Congratulations on the promotion @stellarfox I bet most of us feel like we've been waiting with you so it's fantastic to hear of a happy ending. Looking forward to the twist 😂😂

Mummytomollyandbean · 07/12/2018 18:10

@stellarfox yes Facebook group is private Smile

Send me a private message and I'll add you to the group.

lstef · 07/12/2018 18:13

curlywurly - ha thanks! I am a need-to-know everything person so I always want numbers, details, how everything works!

Madeincornwall - yes, we are finding out their sex. there is no way I can financially wait to start buying/making clothes - I need a headstart prep wise! and to just get half used to the idea of what we're having. although if I find out I won't experience having a surprise as we are only having two DC. most of the newborn stuff we get will be unisex - I have a strong aversion to anything pastel- coloured lol (can cope in small amounts perhaps).

Hi to new joiners :)

Curlywurly3 · 07/12/2018 18:20

Joined the Facebook group! I feel like I know you all and your situations under your MN name... on Facebook there are real people and I don't know who they are! 😂

fee1234 · 07/12/2018 19:13

@Curlywurly3 I'm the same, I'm part of a Facebook group but I never post and I don't keep up with it like I do here. A lot of us have been here since 4 or 5 weeks pregnant and I'm quite invested in everyone's stories lol.

If people wanted to, we could share a bit more about ourselves here so it seems a bit more real life ish?

stellarfox · 07/12/2018 19:21

Aww thanks ladies! Yes I feel like we’re a proper little group now. I hope we are all still talking when we’re up in the middle of the night with our little ones!

toomanyflatwhites · 07/12/2018 19:39

Uuurrrrrr so irritated with DP...he's still not home from work and isn't answering my messages asking when he'll be home. DD usually only goes to bed between 8 and 9 so as it stands even if he leaves now he's going to get hone when she should be doing her bedtime routine, and I'm waiting to cook until he tells me he's on his way. So bloody irritating and doesn't actually impact him, as he just gets home to dinner and then I'm the one having to do late bedtime while he unwinds downstairs (having already been home from work and entertaining DD since 6pm)...gaaaaaaa! Ok rant over!

Curlywurly3 · 07/12/2018 21:29

Ladies I'm panicking a little bit! I'm at an event and without even thinking I've just eaten chocolate mousse! I'm worried about the raw eggs :( x

SilverSister · 07/12/2018 21:38

@Curlywurly3 don't panic! Eggs with a red lion stamp on them are fine to be eaten raw or partly cooked - they're extremely low risk for salmonella. You could check with caterers if eggs are red lion stamped but I think most supplied in the UK meet this standard now. So you're probably fine.
I confirmed the red lion thing by looking on the NHS website before posting this.

SilverSister · 07/12/2018 21:40

Small amount more research says over 90% of British eggs are red lion standard now.
Have another chocolate mousse and enjoy it!

Curlywurly3 · 07/12/2018 22:07

@silversister thank you for taking the time to check. I definately don't need to worry now.. I was feeling sickly and didn't finish my main. Then the mousse came which is one of my favourites so ate it. I was just talking to someone I have been trying to track down for a while (it's a work event) and I had to excuse myself and run to the toilet 🙈 so that sorted that out!!

LauralovesLuke · 07/12/2018 22:56

@curlywurly3 I'm in a similar boat of panic....I ate steak pie from m&s for tea...the beef was pink in the middle...I'm now terrified I've contracted toxomosplasis.

socktastic · 08/12/2018 07:00

@mummytomollyandbean I've pm'd you about the fb group.

@Istef bit late to the party but massive congrats!

Big congrats to everyone else with the beautiful scan photos.

@Reastie I'm a teacher too and as I recall my maternity last time was 3 months full pay followed by 6 months statutory pay - something like £136 a week then the last 3 months I was still entitled to time but completely unpaid. I also think that accrued holidays could also be taken at the end of the mat leave but as I went back instead they were paid back to me instead (got a nice wee 4k lump!) This is in Scotland though so don't know if it may differ for you but I'm pretty sure all the Scottish local authorities have the same policy. Re the actual hoilday time, I think we get 40 days paid then the rest of the holiday time is considered school closure and we are not paid for it. Don't know if that's any help to you at all?

Staff Christmas night out last night. I was away by 10 and tucked up by 11! Felt like a utter lightweight. Think I was the first one away from the entire room! Had to make a crappy excuse about Christmas shopping and needing to be out the house early. Can't wait till this becomes public knowledge now!

Fabuluce · 08/12/2018 08:22

@Mummytomollyandbean I've PM'd you too - you'll be inundated I'm afraid!

Bigonesmallone3 · 08/12/2018 08:23

Hi ladies, I had my scan last night.. I met my beautiful jumping bean.. it wasn't playing ball and would either jump around or curl up into a ball, hard to not chuckle..
Everything looked as it should and my due date has been pushed back a few days to 22nd of June..

annihall · 08/12/2018 08:46

@Bigonesmallone3 lovely scan pic :)

Dh had his xmas work do last night and initially planned to drive so he wouldn't drink more than a glass of wine... well of course I ended up picking him up over half an hour away at midnight - drive back was a nightmare as his smell of alcohol made me feel sick and I was sooo tired too.
Made him sleep in the spare room as couldn't put up with smell, he left the door open and this morning the whole corridor stank of alcohol and triggered me being sick multiple times. He looks very guilty and is genuinely sorry but it's annoying me so much that I'm physically feeling worse than him because he had a few too many... not fair - should be him hugging the toilet and not me!

Reastie · 08/12/2018 09:05

Curly I’m pretty certain legally caterers have to use lion eggs and the recommendations changed quite recently for pg women to eat raw eggs so long as it has lion mark.

Socktastic I work for private sector in England and they aren’t more generous than they need to be! I looked into it and apparently they can force you to the the holiday at a date of their choosing and then stick it in s school closure time and so you don’t get anything, from what I understand online. It sounds like it’s open to interpretation for teachers because of enforced holiday periods.

spottypyjamas · 08/12/2018 09:07

I had a bit of a rubbish evening. Bleeding again. It's so annoying you can't self refer to early pregnancy unit. Phoned 111 who sent me to a&e. Where I waited for 4 hours, they did a pregnancy test (for what purpose?! I have a bump and 2 scans showing a baby!). Then given a scan date for Monday. I burst out crying at having to wait so long to know that baby is ok. So stressful all this. x

hexagon01 · 08/12/2018 09:55

Oh @spottypyjamas poor you, I can’t belive they did a pregnancy test at this stage?!? Hope Monday comes fast for you, and with good news.

mindthechaos · 08/12/2018 10:13

How stressful for you spotty I hope this weekend speeds by for you. How are you feeling in yourself? Try and take it easy this weekend

R4ch4el · 08/12/2018 10:30

@spottypyjamas Oh I’m so sorry, what a stressful evening. It’s awful that they aren’t equipped to do scans at evenings/weekends isn’t it. I’m not going to tell you not to worry as I know that’s impossible, but don’t despair, try to stay positive. I’m living proof that you can bleed a lot and it have no impact on baby. They are amazingly resilient.

Will be thinking of you this weekend, and we are here if you need to talk xxx

toasterstrudle · 08/12/2018 11:04

Oh @spottypyjamas I'm so sorry you have this worry, and what a rotten evening at a&e too without any outcome. Bleeding doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong, fingers crossed all is well. When is your scan on Monday? So rubbish they can't scan you sooner.

spottypyjamas · 08/12/2018 11:10

Thanks all. I know I had a massive bleed about 4 weeks ago so was just about coming round to the idea that things were going to be ok and starting to tell people etc then this happened. I know there no reason why it won't all be ok again, but just hate the ups and downs of it all. Scan is at least first thing Monday morning so need an excuse for the office again. My manager knows but would rather tell everyone else when I know things are ok. Naughty little bean! X
