@JBCG - I am 12+1 and went today to get first line meds - i had a break for a few days and then the nausea came back and hit me like a truck. If you're being sick multiple times and feeling rough all day I'd definitely go now. I've only been sick 3 times in six weeks (actually sometimes would prefer being sick to nausea) and prob have it easy compared to others - I think what matters is our individual tolerance to it - I dont cope well emotionally or physically with feeling or being sick, I can barely move when its bad.

I'm amazed that you're still working full time. I'm a support worker and have asked to be signed off work due to risks and the amount of responsibility I have for basically keeping 5 other people alive and well!

I was managing just about before now but the last few days its been so much worse and I'm tired of it- 6 weeks of feeling rough is crap!

I'd go if I were you!
x

lstef · 03/12/2018 12:35

yes JBCG - also second Reastie on the rest - I have spent a LOT of time in bed, resting and sleeping sometimes 12 hours at night and naps in the day. I barely moved weeks 6-9.

Prob end up sleeping even more with sedating drugs lol!

toasterstrudle · 03/12/2018 12:37

@JBCG I got signed off at 10 weeks when I just couldn't cope anymore. The gps will sign you off as soon as it is having a debilitating effect on your life. I'm also on cyclizine but I don't always take it while I'm at home. Hoping to return next week. I was dreading going off, but it's been a godsend having a few weeks where I can vomit in peace and lie on the sofa! I find activity makes it much worse. I went to gp when I was really dehydrated and had lost a fair amount of weight and ended up having to get a series of anti-sickness injections and was nearly admitted to hospital. I'd recommend going before you reach that stage - book an app ASAP!

@toomanyflatwhites congratulations! I got married within a few months of engagement and was also pregnant - we had a brilliant day! Low key, small, just perfect. One thing is I do wish I'd had a professional photographer as our photos aren't great quality and were just iphone ones. Other than that it was a perfect day.

@sk17 gosh, what a worry for you. I'm so sorry you have this stress just now. I don't know anyone with MS, but I developed strong carpal tunnel syndrome in my first pregnancy which led to my arm going numb/pins and needles quite frequently. It stopped when I had my son. I'm sure the doctors will do lots of tests and investigations but I just wanted to say in case it was something relevant. Thinking of you.

I've got my 12 week scan on Thurs - mix of excitement and dread! Had a scan last week but still get a bit anxious after my history. Still very sick but gp today says my weight has maintained since last week and blood pressure back to normal. No ketones in urine. So he reckons I'm on the home stretch out of the HG, hurrah! Been a bit of an isolating 3 weeks.

JBCG · 03/12/2018 12:48

Thanks all. I'm really up for trying all options before being signed off. I work for my family business but it's a manic time at work at the moment with expansion and one of our other directors just announced their retirement so I'm trying to pick up some of the slack. I just feel like I'd be letting my dad down if I left the business now. I know he wouldn't begrudge me at all and would be very understanding but i don't know how well it would sit with me knowing it's crazy at work and I'm not helping 😔. Luckily because it is a family business and my dad is very understanding I have been able to sneak off for an hour or two for naps here and there as I've been so tired! I guess moving house hasn't helped either as the new house is still full of boxes and just a complete mess 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm only 10+4 so by most accounts have a few more weeks of this before it eases off! Fingers crossed it gets better soon!

MauisLeftNipple · 03/12/2018 12:56

JBCG if you cant keep any food down please see your GP. You must be losing weight? I wouldn't be going to work in your situation.

sk17 · 03/12/2018 13:09

Thank you all so much for the kind and reassuring words ❤️ means a lot to me.

I will call the neurologist tomorrow and see if I can reschedule it because I don't think I can wait for 7 months. But then I'm also afraid of the answer. She did tell me that symptoms usually appear to get better in pregnancy because the immune system is down and it's worth seeing what happens once I've given birth.

It's just extremely worrying but will try and remain positive. I just keep thinking about what if I'm not able to look after my baby and what if it gets worse 😔

toasterstrudle · 03/12/2018 13:52

@JBCG I can totally understand why you wouldn't want to go off, that's tough. I'd def see the gp about some meds, on days I have to leave the house I've been grateful for them. If it's any consolation too, 10 weeks was my absolute worst week, I couldn't function at all. Although I'm still quite sick it's definitely easing off a bit now (12+3)

curlypasta · 03/12/2018 13:53

I’m trying to persuade my 3.5 ur old ds to have a sleep with me. It’s not happening so we’ve resorted to lying on the sofa watching a Christmas film. But I’m soooo tired

Bigonesmallone3 · 03/12/2018 14:08

@curlypasta
If I need a sleep and my 21 month old DD isn't having it I usually lay on the sofa blocking her in and she sits watching tv over me.. 9/10 I wake up and she's gone to sleep too 😍

curlypasta · 03/12/2018 15:32

I did that on Saturday for half an hour, he escaped and ate all his advent calendar!

Bigonesmallone3 · 03/12/2018 15:40

Aha.. ok then.. maybe not..

Fabuluce · 03/12/2018 15:54

I tried that today with my 3yo. He sat on my head, pulled my hair and tweaked my nose every few minutes. Not terribly successful!

Fabuluce · 03/12/2018 16:00

@sk17 how scary for you. A friend of mine is in a similar situation with 3yo twins and an older son so I can understand a little of how you must be feeling. It's just something that knocks you for six isn't it. I'd say be as open and honest with your family as possible. You need their support right now and trying to hide this from them is going to make you feel more stressed than ever and my understanding is that stress can make symptoms feel much worse. Sending hugs. This is not what you need at such a young age when you should be feeling excited about a new baby. I really feel for you. X

Fabuluce · 03/12/2018 16:25

And in other news my 3yo insists on coming to the loo with me every. Blooming. Time. He likes 'helping' by constantly pulling bits of loo roll off and trying to shove it under my bum into the loo, or climbing into my lap for a cuddle or climbing over me to stand on top of the loo 😩😱. I'm constipated and need my time by myself FFS!

annihall · 03/12/2018 17:15

Just had my screening results back and it says low risk but for Down syndrome it's 1 in 2180 what sounds quite high to me? Thought it should be something like 1 in 10,000ish? Can anyone reassure me that's not a bad result? :(

annihall · 03/12/2018 17:34

@sk17 my cousin's husband was diagnosed with ms about 6 or 7 years ago but so far it's hardly having an impact on him at all. Everyone's different and just getting the diagnosis doesn't mean you'll need a carer soon. Also modern medicine has ways of slowing the progression of it down a lot.
Obviously I'm really hoping for you that the mri will prove that it's not ms - remember that they just want to make sure they test for every possible cause but there's so many other things that could cause your symptoms so please try not to get too worked up! I'm really hoping it will all be fine! X

socktastic · 03/12/2018 18:01

@sk17 what awful worry for you. I don't have any advice but freely offering a handhold.

Spoke to pharmacist this afternoon about nausea and if I could get anything on mini ailments. Her suggestions included ginger nuts and dry crackers. I thought of a few suggestions of where she could shove her dry crackers. I don't think I'm bad enough to go to docs so I'll just have to power on through.

Dh is driving me a bit mad at the moment. It really has fallen to him to keep the house clean and tidy and I actually think he's be doing too good a job. So much so, I'm getting totally nagged when I'm messy! Like yesterday I forgot to put the cheese back in the fridge after making tea. You'd think I was the devil incarnate from the way he huffed and nagged when he was putting it away. "I know you're feeling bad but if you bring something out can you put it away again" met with a massive fuck right off. He's in the huff.

Pigriver · 03/12/2018 18:02

@annihall
1 in 150 or under is considered high risk I think. With DS mine was 1 in 1600 and that was 4 years ago when I was 32 so I'm sure mine will be higher this time.

stellarfox · 03/12/2018 20:46

@sk17 sorry I missed your post this morning. It is a scary situation but I think medicine has come a really long way with dealing with ms and also I believe yoga can really help. Really hope you can get a diagnosis soon but even if you do have it, please don’t assume it’s a worst case scenario as many people live with it managing the symptoms really well.

MauisLeftNipple · 03/12/2018 21:09

I had my booking appt tonight. Delighted to confirm I am now a geriatric and will thus be consultant-led, unless they decide I'm actually fairly low risk. Discovered my hospital actually offers the Harmony privately. Shame I've already booked it for Monday at a clinic 70 miles away. Feeling really sick today but still managing to eat and drink. Terribly reliant on fruit pastilles to get the fuzzy taste out of my mouth.

Thinking of you sk17

toomanyflatwhites · 03/12/2018 21:24

Hey @MauisLeftNipple you and me both! Had my booking in this morning too and also have got my geriatric consultant appointment booked (thank goodness they didn't use that word) though the midwife exclaimed "you don't even look 30!!" Haha thanks.
Does anyone have any idea what happens with the consultant? Is it just chat and checking blood pressure etc?

hellotoyellow · 03/12/2018 21:46

@sk17 so sorry to hear your news, that's really worrying. they sometimes do MRI on the baby even in pregnancy, so maybe ask again about possibly having it done earlier?

@toomanyflatwhites how exciting!! i planned my wedding in about 8 weeks and it was lovely - made my own flowers, got a sample of a dress, had a lovely dinner for 70 people after the church. no cars, just taxis; orders of service from the internet; email invites and booze favours. we did have a photographer but was only £500 and he got a few lovely pictures. that was 5 years ago and it was just lovely, friends often say it was one of the most relaxed and happy they've been to. i was just really, really happy the whole time with hardly any stress. have an amazing time.

Napssavelives · 04/12/2018 06:36

Scan day, 11am. I’ve been up since 4, so nervous 😬

R4ch4el · 04/12/2018 07:52

I was really unsure whether to post anything on here as I don’t want to terrify anyone, but I could really use the moral support and I know you are all brilliant.

Yesterday was pretty traumatic. I was in a meeting with our whole board of directors. Stood up at the end of the meeting and saw that the chair, my dress and everything was absolutely covered in blood. I’ve never seen so much blood in my life! As I stood up I felt myself pass something large, I couldn’t bring myself to look but I’m sure it must have been the baby.

Luckily my amazing colleague was there and she took care of everything really discreetly and took me straight to A&E, and waited with me until DH arrived. At the hospital until midnight but they didn’t do any scans and wouldn’t confirm anything, so I have to go back this morning to EPC.

I think it’s pretty clear that I have miscarried so I don’t understand why the Drs won’t just confirm it. Not really sure what to expect next.

Curlywurly3 · 04/12/2018 07:52

@napssavelives good luck at your scan today, you'll be a happy naps later! :)

I'm telling work today and I am SO nervous, I've been waking up around 3.30am almost every night for the past week thinking about it. Dreading it.
