Have you tried pregnancy yoga at all? some positions they could advise could help with the discomfort perhaps??

emj23 · 18/07/2007 21:01

No, I haven't actually, it hadn't occurred to me, I will look into that. Thanks very much Dal21.

dal21 · 18/07/2007 21:12

Coriander73 · 18/07/2007 21:28

Hello..just popped over from Sep 2006 thread to say I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU LADIES ARE NEARLY THERE!!! I've been looking at the photos of when DS was born last Sep & it seems like yday...now he is a strapping 10 month old little boy...just incredible...makes me feel rather broody all over again but DH isn't having any of it!!!! Good luck to all of you..Sep babies are great - I also have a 2.10 old also born in Sep!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JoMa · 18/07/2007 21:33

ladies, just popped in to remind you it's nearly time for a new thread, don't forget this time

toadstool · 18/07/2007 21:49

just posting from hospital. unfortunetly i slipped in the park on saturday morning abd have a nasty leg fracture. and 5 days on i'm still waiting for the op to pin and stabilize the leg. 5 days of constant immobility, cpnstant pain, no sleep and today a transfer to an osteo ward where the nurse in charge insinuated i was being a drama queen forhanging onto a 'fancy mattress', and a nurse greeted me with, 'so. you're fed up.' the care until today has been excellent, but the transfer to this ward was a shambles. i have a senile old man yelling, a religius maniac tackling fellow atiebts on their knowledge of the bible. and my op 'may not be until friday afternoon'. we are 5 mns from the maternity hospital soi i have seen 2 obstretricians for 'reassurance'. i have had no scan and no blood test. no anti_d either. apparebtly they'd rather wait until after the op. my, isn't that reassuring? sorry for cack writing, but i'm using the bedside pc's.

MrsFish · 18/07/2007 21:54

Blimey

What a crap state of affairs, hope you get yourself sorted soon and on the road to recovery hugs

LoopyLouLisa · 18/07/2007 21:55

Hiya all,

emj- back to back labour is definitely very painful! ds was in perfect positioning at 40 wks but at induction 2 wks later he'd turned transverse/sideways, so they managed to turn him but he stuck in back to back. had 18 hours of g&a, pethidine and epidural all together and still had to have 2 people hold me on the bed as I was thrashing about so much through the pain. ended up an emergency cs as he wasn't gonna come out. really really sorry if tmi but wish someone had told me before so that I could prepare myself. cannot bear the thought of it happening again (along with low lying placenta) so have chosen to prepare for an elective instead of risking it.

pennypops - only way i can think of to describe how it felt once ds had engaged was that there was immense pressure on my pubic bone.

can anyone tell how much of a wimp i am when it comes to pain?!

toadstool · 18/07/2007 22:01

thanks! i am currently trying to break the morphine part of the analgesia, and co_codamol is doing the trick. now i have net access, i'm looking up foetal movement monitoring as no=one can advise here. more fun ahead when i go nil by mouth tomorrow night after 5 days of zero bowel action...think i'll be drama queen and ask for an enema, rather than deal with consequences of nil water in clogged up guts. hey ho that's before we deal with the pram pushing on crutches bit... assming all goes well.

toadstool · 18/07/2007 22:04

loopy, you're not a wimp! using entonox on sat made me realise how intense labour pain is compared to fracture pain! quite sobering. elective is a good idea.

LoopyLouLisa · 18/07/2007 22:22

toadstool, think of the pram as a zimmer and u'll be ok. i think i remember someone else saying before that they have to use codine but can't remember wh or why. brain gone completely jelly-fied. might have summat to do with the amount of jelly I've been eating. was never really very fond of it before but this is my weird craving this time. with ds it was spaghetti hoops.

my only regret really is not having any gas this time. that stuff was great, wish i could buy some i am a wimp really, was considering asking if they'll let me have it while they put the spinal in.

think you should def start a thread to ask if anyone else has had general while pg as someone may be able to offer some advice. i think if it was me i would tell them that movements are reduced to get a scan. have they given you any indication of whether an obsterician will be present? i'm pretty clueless on all this xx

helenelisabeth · 18/07/2007 22:34

Hi everyone - hope you don't mind me joining you! I am due 7 September with my second child. Don't know sex of bubba! Just been diagnosed with polyhydroamnios (excess fluid) so bit worried atm but having tests at the end of the week so fingers crossed!

kinki · 18/07/2007 22:40

Oh toadstool, that's so awful. It doesn't sound like they are looking after you that well on your ward. That's all you need. When I was in recently, I was put on a surgical ward and afterwards my mw said I should have asked to go to maternity. Apparently you can be nursed for most things on a maternity ward, it maybe worth asking.

Have you got all the support you need? Visitors, tissues, grapes, clean knickers, that sort of thing? I can't remember off hand if you've got other lo's to look after. What a nightmare for you. With it being pinned, does that mean you will get away with no plaster, or maybe the lightweight plaster instead. Here's hoping that at least your batty neighbours pipe down and give you a good nights sleep. Thinking of you.

Haven't forgotten everyone else. I promise I will catch up with all the news soon, and join in more again. I've been thinking of you all. Hopey, I know your dh has had his op recently, I hope its gone well and he gets home soon. Don't let him go back to work so soon this time. Make him rest. Love to you all and tomorrow I'll try to do a proper catch up. Keep your chin up toady! x

LoopyLouLisa · 18/07/2007 22:45

Welcome helenelisabeth. must be a worrying time for you but i'm sure you'll find support among us for we are a friendly bunch how old is dc1?

toadstool · 18/07/2007 23:56

welcome to the massive thread! i may ask about reduced movements, as they have a scanning machine around somewhere...codeine is working, morphine ok but i'm wary as it's opiate. the reason for the delay is that they have to have an anaesth. with obs exprience, a good specialist surgeon as he pin has to be non_standard, a trauma person and an obs team with equipment, all to hand at once. to make things odder, another woman is await8ng the same op, she's 36 wks, and has been waiting 2 days longer than me... bla bla, i'd better start a thread..!

dal21 · 19/07/2007 07:34

Morning all! Time for a new thread soon! Cannot wait!

Coriander - thanks for popping on and sharing! makes me so excited! Am 30 weeks tomorrow and for some reason that feels like such a milestone to me! Final quarter! Hoorah!

Toadstool - sorry to hear about your fracture. Hope you are back home resting soon.

HeleneE - welcome! I dont know anything about the implications of excess fluid, but am sure you'll get all the support on here that you need. Many knowledgable people!

Enjoying my last few days off from work before heading back for a couple more weeks. Could quite happily not go back at all right now - all the bits and bobs round the house are keeping me well occupied! But oh well, have no choice but to go back!
Hope everyone else has a fab day!

dal21 · 19/07/2007 07:35

Lots of exclamations in previous post. sorry. think i am more excited than i realise at nearly being at 30 weeks.

MrsFish · 19/07/2007 07:38

I'm 30 weeks on sunday so I know how you feel

dal21 · 19/07/2007 07:40

Isnt it great! On one hand i keep reading the aug/ jul threads and hearing how uncomfy the ladies are getting towards the end. But then I think i dont care! I want to meet the LO.

Started to read the baby whisperer last night, it's really good!

helenelisabeth · 19/07/2007 08:44

Thanks for welcoming me girls. I am slightly concerned over the polyhydroamnios as you can have complications but nothing I can do! Loopy - my DD is4.9.

emj23 · 19/07/2007 08:46

Hi LoopyLouLisa, thanks for explaining the back-to-back thing, I didn't really know how complicated it made things, I guess I should stop complaining and get on with crawling around the floor and try to get the baby to turn
Welcome helenelisabeth, have you added yourself to the stats thread yet?
Toadstool - ouch, hope you're soon feeling better.

Hopeitwontbebig · 19/07/2007 11:23

Morning all, feeling much better today Thanks for all your lovely messages. Got over my angry ranty mood! Edie you were asking about DH's prognosis, well he had neurosurgery about a wk after the accident to re-attach some severed nerves. The nerves that were ripped from spinal cord could not be re-attached, too risky. Basically we've been told that it'll take about 3 years to reach any sort of recovery. The nerves have to completely re-grow down the arm, and they grow at 1mm a day! We've been told that he will never regain fine motor control and at best he will be able to bend his elbow and at very very best his wrist. Kinki he's a naughty boy and he's sitting upstairs in bed making phonecalls and working on laptop. There's just NO telling him

emj23 - I too had a back to back (or posterior) labour with DS1. Have to echo Loopys opinion really, sorry, it does makes things a bit tougher. Unfortunately with me, they didn't pick up that he was posterior until half way through my labour, the midwives were really mean to me up to that point because they thought I was just being a wimp. When in actual fact I was labouring a massive baby who was flippin posterior . What I would say it don't be brave, and make sure you ask for pain relief early on. Also, try not to give birth lying on your back.

Helen - welcome on board! Sorry about your pregnancy worries. I hope it all turns out ok for you. You'll get lots of support and advise here. It might be worth you starting a thread over on pregnancy, you may get some really good advise there.

Toadstall, what a nightmare for you. It sounds SOOOOOO painful. What a crappy ward it sounds like you are on... bet some of those patients are getting right on your nerves! What a coincidence that other pregnant lady being in the same situation as you! Sending you healing thoughts Good luck with your surgery.

dal, your Mum sounds like a superstar!! Well done on the painting!

MooMar, thank you so very very much for the kind offer of your dog, I've thought long and hard about it but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Filbrit, great to have you back!! Glad the move went well.

Well I've got a very busy weekend planned. We need to completely pack up the kitchen because it's being ripped out on Monday!! My Mum thinks I'm mad, we did this when I was pregnant with DS2! SO, we will be living in the lounge, cooking with a microwave, steamer and if the weather behaves, the bbq! Only for 4 weeks . It's all good fun! I'm going to pay my boys an hourly wage to help do all the packing! It's amazing how willing they are to help when there's a bit of extra pocket money involved.

Love to all x

ps, we've got less than 80 messages to go, need to choose a thread name.

Here's my suggestion

Due Sept 07 part (?) - LOVING this weather- Summer may resume in October!

OP posts:
MrsFish · 19/07/2007 11:35

I like that title

LoopyLouLisa · 19/07/2007 12:01

Hiwbb - love the title too. maybe if it gets too hot we should all emigrate to Australia together til after the births. They only picked up my ds's position cos the trace was poor and they decided to do an ultrasound in the delivery suite to check it wasn't my heartbeat they were picking up.

I feel really guilty about possibly scaring you tho emj

Hope you had a better night toadstool and love to everyone else xx
