I've not got very much so far (this is our first). I've read up reviews for prams and found one online that's much cheaper than any in the shops. Planning on doing an ikea shop for nursery stuff etc.

It's so hard to know what you actually need instead of going ott and regretting it later. With being so sick getting the house sorted hasn't started yet...painting needs to happen sometime between December and March!

SharonO225 · 15/11/2018 09:53

Thank you @cardboard33 Smile, I have definitely picked up a few tips & tricks along the years lol. I've never done FB myself and this is the 1st pregnancy that I actually joined a group to chat in. I was a bit gutted that the netmums group dwindled away to FB so I'm delighted to find mumsnet & join an active group to have a natter Grin

SquirtlesMumAgain · 15/11/2018 11:30

We bought DSs pram between Xmas and New year, we'd been watching prices for a while and it was cheaper still so definitely worth a watch and don't wait for the specific sales. We had very specific requirements as we had nowhere to store a carry cot so bought one where the carry cot converted to the seat (works brilliantly by the way!) - in the end including the car seat we paid just less than £300, but it was 4 years ago!

Other things like moses baskets, keep an eye out on selling sites for now as people will be buying things like beds for Christmas and having a clear out. A new mattress and wash the cover and it is as good as new.

firsttimemumjess1 · 15/11/2018 11:52

@Priscilla83 yeah I’ve been struggling with hip pain. It mainly occurs after I’ve been lying on my left side for some time and then I get numbness but I haven’t been using pregnancy pillows. I’ve just purchased one so I’m hoping this helps, plus I’ve just started yoga too.

Angelmiracle · 15/11/2018 13:07

I've got my scan in a few hours Grin Excited to see the rascal. Bringing DM which she is delighted about so that will be nice.

We're going for a Bugaboo Cameleon from Gumtree- there have been loads of new ads recently I'm dying to just go see some!!

Also I got an email that Mothercare are having a Black Friday preview until midnight if anyone wants to have a look. There's £30 off the Tutti Bambini CoZee crib we were looking at!

@priscilla83 we’re not planning on getting anything until the January sales either. We have clothes, books, toys etc from my older two but need all ths big stuff - pram, nursery furniture etc and annoyingly 3 brand new car seats as I don’t think they’ll all fit in the backseat otherwise. Still, cheaper than buying a new car, I suppose!!

wordsmithereens · 15/11/2018 14:19

Hello everyone! Keep forgetting about this thread cause facebook is so active. :/

@melissa112 Hope the meeting with the midwife goes well and you get the right support. Agreed with whoever suggested to rope DH in as well, it'll be useful to give another perspective and also may help him to feel supported and so better able to support you. :)

@VillageFete Many good thoughts your way. So glad you got to enjoy your 20-week scan and congrats on getting your baby-wagon sorted!

@Priscilla83 We're doing a hypnobirthing course later this month and I've started going to the regular practice sessions a bit early (they're run weekly where I am). Really enjoying it so far, and so seems baby - she has a wild party whenever I do any sort of relaxed/deep breathing. Wonder if she's getting high on the oxygen! Grin

Sympathies for the nigh-time wakers, i woke up at 2am last night to pee, couldn't get back to sleep, conked out again at 5 and then slept through till 1 Shock, so now feel like I've totally wasted my day.

Also for the geeks in us, I stumbled across this yesterday, it's aimed at midwives, but I thought it had some really interesting stuff in there about tips on how to bond with unborn baby etc. so thought some of you may enjoy as well. www.rcm.org.uk/sites/default/files/Emotional%20Wellbeing_Guide_WEB.pdf

Priscilla83 · 15/11/2018 14:31

What is the Facebook page?

wordsmithereens · 15/11/2018 15:32

There's a secret facebook group, I think @murphyrocks is admin and can ad people if they fancy being on both?

Murphyrocks · 15/11/2018 16:00

@Priscilla83 yes I'm admin on the Facebook group - do sent me a PM if you want to join and I can get you on.

Priscilla83 · 15/11/2018 16:02

Sorry if a silly question, how do I find the group on fb?

Wineandchoccy · 15/11/2018 16:25

@Priscilla83 if you send Murphyrocks a message on here then she will invite you to the group. It is a secret group so can’t be found by searching in the normal way

Nightmanagerfan · 15/11/2018 17:16

Hello everyone - just catching up on the thread. Work has been crazy and I’ve been working v long hours (getting home at 9/10 and even 1:30am one day last week). DH is really cross about it as he wants me to rest. So I’ve come home early (just got in) and have tomorrow booked as annual leave... can’t wait for a three day weekend!

@squirtlesmumagain what pram did you get? The converting seat interests me as we are also short on space.

We’re not planning on buying much til we are off over Christmas and even then will have to stick to the bare minimum due to space. Any other tips from those who’ve had a baby in a small flat? We have a spare bedroom but are short on space otherwise.

MIL touched my bump yesterday but I managed a strategic flap of my shirt to move her hand away, and she didn’t try again! She came over for dinner and when I walked in exhausted at 8 from work I think she realised why I hadn’t been jumping at the chance of travelling to hers after work for dinner (hour there and hour back on bus/tube).

SquirtlesMumAgain · 15/11/2018 20:14

@Nightmanagerfan - it's the chicco urban. Not sure what the plus pack is but you get the idea!

We had a brake issue with our frame and they just sent a new one without any issue at all and were super helpful

Spud2019 · 15/11/2018 20:47

Hi @SharonO225 ... we are due date buddies and this little one will sort of be baby number four for me too ( I have two step children and we lost a little one who it feels mean not to count so fourth birth but number seven in the family). She's a little girl and getting really wriggly now. Welcome. No chance of this group running out I don't think, it's always really busy.

Angelmiracle · 15/11/2018 21:00

Good scan today baby was having proper fun legs up behind the head and back to my tummy. Sonographer was really quick but baby wouldn't shift for proper image of the 4 chambers and arteries but we did see them on screen so back in 11 days! She's happy all appears normal. And she let us hear heartbeat too Grin

Oh I can't figure out how to do PMs on here. Sorry.

Murphyrocks · 15/11/2018 21:11

@Priscilla83 I've sent you a pm...

SharonO225 · 15/11/2018 21:24

Hi @Spud2019.. aww I’m delighted to meet someone due at the same date as me Smile we can be on countdown together Grin. I’m sorry you’ve experienced a loss, we have also lost LO’s through MC (3 in total). It’s my DD birthday tomorrow, she will be 2. Iv just been wrapping her presents ready for her to see them in the morning. I think I’m more excited than she will be lol. This LO and DD will be the closest in age that I have so it’s going to be completely new to me having 2 so close together, I feel like a first timer all over again lol Confused

Kee80 · 15/11/2018 21:25

Congratulations on your scan @Angelmiracle do you know what your having?

Spud2019 · 15/11/2018 22:53

@SharonO225 my big one is 20 on 23rd so just starting to sort his presents (and figure out when presents will stop/change in our house - we've also just been looking at rooms to rent this evening as he's starting to think about moving out and I'm thinking 21 might be a nice time to shift to a different present plan). I'm glad I got most baby stuff sorted already as no matter how much I try to prepare I always find this bit between his birthday on 23rd and our last kid birthday on 5th Feb bonkers with Christmas in between too. We've always done that 'something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read' thing so it's only 4 presents each so it's not like we go nuts but it's sorting other nice bday stuff too that wears me out a bit I think. This year one is turning 18 and two 16 so lots of special birthdays too. I'm thinking when they get to 21 maybe we'll do one nice activity type gift for future birthdays (a meal or a hotel night or something). My age gaps are opposite way to you, the big lot are close (gap just under two years between each) and then huge gap to this little surprise. I felt a bit worried it would be lonely at first but then I realised it had no hope of ever being lonely with a million siblings and lots of people have told me they have special relationships where gaps are big between them and siblings. Hope tomorrow is really special!

SharonO225 · 15/11/2018 23:08

Wow I think that gap is brilliant, it’s so much easier when you can just focus on the baby and don’t have other little ones to keep an eye on too (can’t have enough eyes in your head lol) and with the ages you have now they will be lots of extra pairs of hands to help you out. I was worried when I had DD as it was a 12year gap between her and our 1st DS and worried they wouldn’t bond but they’re great together so certain he will bond just as well with this DD when she arrives too. Mines all have bdays quite close together so like you I find it a bit chaotic around Xmas and just after.. DD is Nov then Xmas then DS2 is end of jan then DS1 is mid feb then new arrival in March.. I think this lil one will arrive beginning of March too so reckon il only have 2 weeks between each of the boys birthdays and LO coming. Hopefully as I will be so busy it will just make it feel a lot quicker too Wink

Angelmiracle · 15/11/2018 23:08

Thanks @Kee80 no we did not find out. I'm afraid in case I would regret finding out right now I don't know why or can't put my finger on it. I wouldn't use the term I'm wanting a surprise because with DS I wasn't surprised at all my gut really told me he would be a boy. I've no gut feeling this time lol.

I will be having growth scans from Christmas so could change my mind about finding out!

Hello everyone! Hope you are all well. It’s been so busy at work (oh the joys of the NHS) so not really been checking in.
Had my 20 week scan this week - baby was stubborn again! Took 40 mins as had a trainee sonographer and my belly button was so sore after! Everything appears ok, baby was not happy about being scanned. Legs crossed and arms over face so no good scan pics sadly. But glad he is healthy. Managed to see a little willy dangling down at the end of the scan - so we are having a boy ❤️
