@WhatALearningCurve been with my partner for two years - we started trying after a year though. We moved in together fairly early too - no point wasting time if you know they're the right person!

kee80 · 03/01/2019 19:56

@Wineandchoccy how many weeks are you?
I had growth scan today as I was measuring small yesterday at midwife appointment.
All was good, she's estimated at 3.4lb and also transverse. I'm 29+2 and wasn't sure if this was the average weight for gestation??
I also have another scan next week to check if placenta has moved!

Wineandchoccy · 03/01/2019 20:21

I’m 32 + 4 today @kee80

SquirtlesMumAgain · 03/01/2019 20:45

Fingers crossed for the next scan @wineandchoccy.

We had a growth scan last week at 28+1 and my (expected to be) smaller baby was 2.557lb @Kee80

Wineandchoccy · 03/01/2019 21:05

@SquirtlesMumAgain according to my day by day pregnancy book you are measuring perfect Smile

She is plotting on the lower half of my "Normal" range. We have personalised expected weight charts (which I didn't have last time) where I guess she is roughly 25th centile ish. It's what happens next that is the interesting thing with her, as to whether she stays in their curves or makes her own!

Wineandchoccy · 03/01/2019 21:21

Nothing wrong with making your own curve 👍
I’m measuring on the 10th centile but dd’s chart from her 1st few months looks like a spider has run over it in ink it’s that up and down.
Somebody has to be top and somebody has to be bottom of the charts.

kee80 · 03/01/2019 21:23

I've been on "google" and does look like she's a little ahead! My SIL told me to not take much notice of the growth scans. My nephew was born early at 36wks and was estimated a little over 4lb but was born 5.9lb

The midwife at the hospital said all was perfect and on my chart I'm in the 50th centile!
I have no clue when it comes to the this!!

Wineandchoccy · 03/01/2019 21:55

@kee80 yes I’m not sure if I fully trust them you hear so many stories of people who were expecting big babies to have average babies and vice versa

SquirtlesMumAgain · 03/01/2019 21:59

DS was predicted to be bigger than he was by some chunk (in relation to his total size).
It was interesting getting a personalised chart this time. They even noted DS's size in relation to it and he was born on the 0th centile which is inline with his below the 0.4th on the Red book charts at birth.

One thing I would say from experience on growth scans is they are much more likely to be closer to accurate now than at the end as baby is so big compared to their equipment they struggle to get everything in to measure.

Angelmiracle · 03/01/2019 23:47

I'm still not sleeping even though in bed Envy

Baby was 2.26lbs at 26 weeks between 50th and 90th. 2nd scan is next Thurs 29 weeks. I will let you all know. I feel they've doubled in size lol. DS was 9lb9oz I'm expecting similar.

I'm also feeling very stupid for not contacting midwife or fetal assessment this afternoon. Never mind me is baby Ok?! Only reassurance they've been kicking and punching literally all day the most movement yet - unless too much is bad!!

It is a really hard balance @Angelmiracle - if you're worried then give them a call tomorrow.

Those with maternity pillows, so they stop you rolling onto your back when sleeping?
I can't really justify the cost which is why I have never bought one (or needed one last time) but I can't have another night of waking up not breathing!

@SquirtlesMumAgain this is mine it was £17 with the pillow case came within a few days.

melissa112 · 04/01/2019 07:31

Hi all

Just checking in as haven't been around much since Christmas. Thanks to you all I've been proactive and have got an appointment to speak with someone via IAPT on Wednesday regarding my anxiety. I feel somewhat better knowing that I've taken that step and am trying to think more logically about things.

Came back to work after Christmas and now people are saying my bump is tiny whereas before Christmas everyone was saying how big I was Confused so I'll be interested to see how big I'm measuring at the midwife on Tues for my 31 wks. He was spot on the 50th percentile at 28 so not sure how it could have shrunk!

I've probably missed loads, but is anyone now feeling really really pregnant?? I sound like an old man grunting away all day! I'm out of breath just sat down not moving, baby's kicks are very painful and I have to be pushed up like a turtle stuck on my back to get off the sofa! I went to IKEA the other day and was limping after 10 mins which seems to be about as far as I can walk now! Up during the night through either needing the toilet, or feeling like my thighs are really heavy. So glamourous! Also got a bout of thrush too just to top it all off in addition to leaky boobs Grin (sorry if TMI)

@Angelmiracle I hope you're ok after your appointment. I Think baby will be just fine but if you are worried then a call might just put your mind at ease.

Random question, but do you guys eat salad or veg from a restaurant? I'm going out for tea tomorrow with my mum to a nice pub type restaurant. A few weeks ago I had this lovely chicken dish which came with a really nice spinach salad tossed in some kind of dressing. I want the same thing tomorrow but is restaurant salad ok?

SquirtlesMumAgain · 04/01/2019 08:15

Why are you concerned it wouldn't be OK @melissa112?
Vegetables are cleaned and cooked so everything killed off, just like at home. When it comes to salad it should be well cleaned as well, and if it wasn't the restaurant probably wouldn't stay open long.
Have you seen something that is triggering this concern?

SquirtlesMumAgain · 04/01/2019 08:16

And thanks @wineandchoccy, will have to order one if it's going to stop me rolling onto my back!

melissa112 · 04/01/2019 08:52

@SquirtlesMumAgain I haven't seen anything in particular. I just know how important it is to wash it, and I have no reason to think this place wouldn't wash their salad I suppose! I just thought we needed to avoid pre packed salad so wasn't sure how restaurant salad would be stored etc and whether to worry about Listeria. I ate it last time with no ill effects. If everyone else eats it then I can stop worrying

SquirtlesMumAgain · 04/01/2019 09:14

It's not something you will be able to alleviate as a concern so ensure you come to peace with it before you go. As you have already acknowledged, there is no reason this company wouldn't be careful with ensuring their produce isn't safe, but if you are concerned then you may want to chose an alternative otherwise you'll be triggering your anxiety. Ultimately the salad will be there once baby is here if you do feel you need to miss it this time

kee80 · 04/01/2019 09:30

@melissa112 I used to work in a kitchen and the salad/veg didn't come prepacked, was all freshly prepared and had to be washed throughly wish a salad/veg wash before being served. So don't think you have anything to worry about unless the company don't follow food hygiene regulations

Miami81 · 04/01/2019 10:01

@SquirtlesMumAgain just on side sleeping, I read somewhere (maybe Tommy's website) that a good tip to stop yourself settling on back is to tie your hair into a ponytail/ bun at the back of your neck! My husband is a snorer and he has also tried a golf ball which worked well.
I attended a specialist clinic in Manchester with Tommy's earlier in this pregnancy and asked them about side sleeping and they were really clear that their research shows it doesn't matter what side (left or right) as long as you settle down to sleep on your side. Not to worry if you wake up again on your back, just roll over onto side again to settle to sleep again.
@melissa112 as someone who has anxieties coming out my ears in this pregnancy my advice to you would be to avoid simple things that make you anxious. So I'm with squirtles and would avoid the salad (as not worth the time you will spend thinking about it) and replace with some nicely cooked/ seasoned veg. I am sure that the salad will be fine, but do you really need the trigger of thinking about it for the day. Enjoy your lunch.

Gronk27 · 04/01/2019 10:43

Well done @melissa112 for taking the first step and glad you already feel a bit better. I am useless with the fruit and veg thing and have carried on as before, just for balance. And yes suddenly felt very pregnant too. My bump seems to grow in spurts, just as I get used to the size it suddenly seems to grow.

I sleep on my back normally so have struggled but have a dream genie, find a pillow between my legs works as well but not sure it stops me rolling onto my back. I just have to turn over a lot!

Had a really sore bump yesterday and in the night. Has eased off this morning. Assume it’s just growing pains but it was quite tender and quite high up. I’ll mention it at my app. on Wed.

Still hoping any other freelance ladies will see my post about MA. Also I’ve sorted out a personal loan to pay the extra on my tax bill and pay off a high interest credit card so I’ll save more money in the long run and reduce my monthly outgoings so feeling much better about finances! Still doesn’t leave me with a huge amount of ‘pin money’ but overall, looking better.

HidCat · 04/01/2019 10:50

my list is very similar to @Wineandchoccy but I haven't included make up, hairdryer and that sort of thing. How much you take depends on how long you expect to be in. As others have Said, If you're expecting to be in and out you need less so some people have a bag for baby, a bag for simple labour and a bag for extended hospital stay. I'm taking a large hand luggage sized suitcase expecting no more than a 2 night stay (had this last time due to Group B Strep. Worth talking to your midwife / consultant about what to expect. Oh and don't forget the sieve if you want a water birth 😂! It's also worth telling whoever is driving to put something waterproof and a towel on the car seat when you're in labour in case you leak in the car.

@Angelmiracle how are you feeling after your "episode"? Hope you're ok.

@WhatALearningCurve I've been with hubby 14yrs also but my BIL met and moved in with his gf and her 6yr old when he was 17 (she was 21) after a few months of dating, got pg straightaway, they're now married with 2 kids of their own and still going strong 12 yrs later!

@melissa112 nice to see you back and being proactive. Bumps are so funny aren't they? I was at a pre-natal class last night chatting to ladies several weeks ahead of me and I felt massive by comparison. Restaurant salad will be fine, they'll have washed it before serving.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 04/01/2019 11:10

@Miami81 I sadly already wear my hair up I a pony tail or bun and I still roll back. It seems to be the stopping breathing trigger is on my back most of the time so need to stop it. Have tried the pillow between my knees too and I still end up on my back!!!
Might end up on the sofa at this rate!

LittleKitty1985 · 04/01/2019 11:39

I keep waking myself up snoring because I'm on my back! I always thought I was a side sleeper too!
