Anyone else hit the point where they are struggling to stand at the sink because of their bump yet?
Been trying to the washing up this morning with difficulty!!!

Gronk27 · 26/11/2018 13:58

@squirtlesmumagain me, we’ve got a ceramic Belfast type sink and the edge is a right where my bump is biggest. I’ve squashed her a couple of times oops!

Wineandchoccy · 26/11/2018 14:04

Yes @SquirtlesMumAgain it’s a great excuse not to do the washing up Grin I need an apron I end up with a wet bump

Murphyrocks · 26/11/2018 14:18

@Squirtlesmumagain I'm OK with washing up so far but leaning over the side of the cot to get ds out is becoming pretty difficult!

Bluebelltulip · 26/11/2018 14:33

@SquirtlesMumAgain my bump gets wet quite often. @Murphyrocks I can get DD out of her cot ok but putting her in when she's half asleep is getting difficult.

Angelmiracle · 26/11/2018 16:39

I have noticed bump getting a nudge with your quartz workshops lol.

Rescan this afternoon went great. Baby still breech (I know it's too early for that) but had done a 180 turn and sonographer got all the heart views easily. Baby wasn't impressed to be woken 😂

Good stuff on the scan @Angelmiracle! As you say it's early to start worrying about breech but as time moves on I'd definitely recommend checking out the Spinning Babies website for advice on getting/keeping baby in optimal position. I did it a bit last time but I'm being stricter on it so far this time; baby has been lined up in perfect LOA (left occiput anterior, his backbone to the left of my belly) ever since I've been able to identify body parts in movements and I'm finding the forward facing inversion posito9n really helpful to realign him if he's sitting awkwardly and causing discomfort/kicking me in the ribs!

@Bluebelltulip yes just generally leaning that far over the bars is tough as he's such a heavy toddler!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 26/11/2018 17:30

Thankfully DS doesn't sleep in a cot any more. Don't think it would keep him contained any more.. Oh and he doesn't nap too (except by accident!)

Murphyrocks · 26/11/2018 18:11

@Squirtlesmumagain DS would certainly be capable of escaping his cot, he's always been a good climber, but it doesn't seem to occur to him to do so, he's always liked his sleep! No way he's ready to give up the nap yet at nearly 2 1/2! Bet I'll never manage to tie it in with the new baby's sleep so I can actually nap myself though... 😞

@Angelmiracle she is so lovely she should train to be a midwife

Angelmiracle · 26/11/2018 21:02

She really should @Wineandchoccy she's very empathetic and great help postnatal with BF too.

@Murphyrocks yes I agree that I need to be proactive about baby's positioning too even if it is early! When I say to some people they kind of roll their eyes saying oh they move all the time but that's 2 weeks in breech position and could become preferable to baby lol.

I bought a gym ball in Lidl but it's far to low going to look about a 65cm one!

OP posts:
Murphyrocks · 26/11/2018 21:48

@Angelmiracle yes it's true they do move a lot but they often do establish a preference for a particular position, and the bigger they get the harder it is for them to move. Plus I figure it doesn't do any harm! Spinning Babies suggest starting with positioning stuff from 20 weeks. I have a 65cm one too (£4 from a nearly new baby sale, win!) as I'm pretty tall although still on the couch more than the ball, just doesn't have the same relaxation factor! The ones at the hospital are all the small one though and really deflated, or at least they were at mine last time, got a pump on my hospital checklist this time!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 26/11/2018 22:19

They had to change the ball I had in hospital when I had DS as I was too short, was definitely well blown up too - probably varies hospital to hospital!

The Emma Willis programme was lovely - the genuine care that she felt and offered was brilliant. Was really glad it wasn't just a TV programme shadowing, if you know what I mean. She really seemed to get stuck in.
Was nice to see more than just lying on your back births too (which One Born Every Minute seemed to be a lot of!)

WhatALearningCurve · 26/11/2018 22:26

My pregnancy ball got delivered to work today. Gonna see it up tomorrow. Once I'm used to it there I'm gonna order one for home as well

Hi everyone, just catching up on the thread whilst lying on the Doctor’s surgery room floor!! I’ve had the OGTT test this morning and have had a funny turn! I had the first blood test and the sugary drink and whilst in the waiting room I felt faint all of a sudden. I managed to call someone’s attention and the Dr came immediately and I fainted on the floor of the reception area. My BP is low so I’m lying on the floor for the next 30 minutes. They may abandon the second test! Oh the joys! Apparently it’s caused by the sugar rush. I’ve had to have the test as diabetes runs in my family. The drink tasted ok, like a sweet orange taste. I feel ok in myself now.

Miami81 · 27/11/2018 09:48

Oh dear. Poor you @firsttimemumjess1, hopefully it's a swift recovery.
I fainted at physio therapy yesterday. I generally have quite low bp, which as a bigger lady the medical people are always fascinated by.
Anyway, I hope you don't have to abandon the test after going to all the effort of taking the drink etc.
I had my OGTT last week and another lady in the waiting room took a funny turn too. She was fine after a little while.

firsttimemumjess1 · 27/11/2018 10:19

Thanks @miami81 the Dr was happy to proceed as my BP increased-it’s still on the low end. They won’t let me leave yet though so I’m surrounded by sick people for another 40 minutes!

Wineandchoccy · 27/11/2018 10:25

Poor you @firsttimemumjess1 don’t breathe in for the next 40 minutes I’m sure you catch more in a Drs than you went in with. Hope you feel ok soon

Wineandchoccy · 27/11/2018 10:26

I’m working from home today and I have zero motivation

firsttimemumjess1 · 27/11/2018 10:38

@wineandchoccy it’s tough! I’ve left my bag on the seat next to me as a sign to stay away! Smile
