@stargazydrifter I was diagnosed at about 28/30 weeks. DS was IUGR and I had GD so I was going for weekly scans/fortnightly growth checks by the time I was 30 weeks. I then had several periods of reduced movement, and I was on daily CTGs for the last 3 weeks to a month. We managed to get him to 36 weeks in the end, but I spent a lot of time in the hospital, had to give up work early (though not as early as I should have done) and yes, was never allowed to really go very far from the hospital.
I was lucky that my BP managed to come down with lots of rest and relaxing!
It did means I had to be hooked up to a monitor during labour, had a drip throughout and basically had few options for how my delivery went. Though to be honest I had no plan I knew all along it would be consultant led.
We were meant to be in Italy when I was 36 weeks for a friend's wedding I dropped out and then (thankfully) DH did too as DS came the weekend we were meant to be there. There's a cut off point for flying and insurance, where you need a fit to fly letter which you won't get if you have complications. 28 weeks? UK travel, I didn't want to go very far because I didn't want to risk having complications somewhere a different hospital would be involved. With DS being so small, there was a risk of him needing help after birth and I didn't want us trapped miles away from home!
Unfortunately, if your BP is high there's not much you can do bit rest, relax and listen to your Dr. It's so infuriating that there's no real fix! Medication can help for a certain time, but likely as you get further into pregnancy, like a lot of stuff, it gets less effective.
