Laburna Thanks so much for sharing your experience, what a worry it must have all been at the time! Yes it's a bit random with the BP as I'm otherwise fit and well, BMI deemed healthy and never had anything in that department before. The more I learn about it, the childbirth ultimately seems like a bit of a mystery!

Laburna · 06/11/2018 18:51

That's definitely the thing stargazydrifter you never know how pregnancy will affect your body, and even when you have had babies before each time is a 'new' pregnancy in all aspects.

My sister had three boys herself, all of which were well over 8lb, she never had any hint of complications other than a higher than average risk of Downs with her first and a shoulder dystocia with her third. I've always been healthier than her, had a good weight, healthy diet, exercised loads and get hit with GD, PE and an IUGR preemie baby. It's so crazy what can happen, and most of the time there is nothing I could do or change to alter the situation, it's just the way it is.

I heard someone say one 'dont worry about things twice' and it's so true. You have to deal with what's going on right at that moment. 'Today we are all pregnant'. If you worry about what might happen tomorrow or next month or next year, you have endless possibilities to think about and worry about and you just end up in a spiral of doom because the majority of the time none of what you are worrying about will happen, and even if it does there's bugger all you can do to alter it.

I wish I took my own advice more often.....I'm still POAS 😳

TwittleBee · 06/11/2018 19:50

itsallgreek It's such early days, just ovulating 1 day later than you thought could make such a difference right now. Keep positive, I would look at it as a good sign he said you'll hear baby's heart next week!

Thank you everyone for supportive words about the scan next week. Spotting has stopped now actually. Also wondering if my exercising caused it?

Is anyone else's boobs already lactating? Like I honestly think I'm gonna need to start wearing pads... boobs didn't start actually producing till day before I went into labour with DS?!

DianaBlythe · 06/11/2018 20:30

I’m also a bit scared by lack of symptoms. I’m tired and have had a few very early nights and boobs are a little tender. Not sick at all. Usually have awful hormonal acne and that seems really stable, much better than it usually is before my period. It seems such a ridiculous thing to complain about but I’m so worried its maybe just not progressing. So daft.

Laburna · 06/11/2018 20:42

No lactation yet @twittlebee, I could do without that starting! 🤣

@dianablythe it's not daft, we've spent the last week over analysing every tiny symptom or non-sympton we have or don't have. We've got another 8 months of this 😂

Haven't got a massive bloat, but realised some of the cramping may be down to my trousers being a little snug 🙄

Did someone say only one of their boobs hurt? Only one of mine does, i assumed it was connected to the fact I had mastitis in that boob with DS and it was more sensitive. Maybe it's a normal thing 🤔 pregnancy is weird!

Onestep2 · 06/11/2018 21:14

My boobs are AGONY and have been for last few week lol I went back to gym class tonight and there was jumping jacks.... My god the sports bra didn't help the boobies at all. ouch ouch ouchhhhhhh

pancakes22 · 06/11/2018 22:16

@TwinkleDay holiday accrues whilst you are on maternity leave including your bank holidays so you get a nice bulk amount of holiday to use at the end. (I used to work in HR so feel free to ask any questions)

@Frazzlerock I have a EMCS with my DD and am desperate for a VBAC this time round. You can elect for a section if you want to but they will hopefully support you with VBAC if that's what you want

@itsallgreek I can imagine that must be really stressful and I really hope all is okay for you. Hurry up next week when you can get some answers

@silverrose56 I was the same and poorly in first pregnancy so wondering when I'm meant to be getting ill but not many symptoms! My mum keeps saying do you need any help because she's presuming I'm feeling the same as last time and I'm like er I'm okay... is it okay that im okay!!

TwittleBee · 06/11/2018 22:19

Yeah only my right one hurts Laburna ! Was the same when pregnant with DS too

SnailorSwift · 06/11/2018 22:51

Hi everyone.

I'm 4+4 EDD 13th July. Only DH and my PT know and won't be sharing till after scan.
I have a DS (6) and had a tough pregnancy and birth with him so I am very nervous. Also very excited though!

StargazyDrifter · 06/11/2018 23:10

Laburna I love the thing about not worrying twice and I'm going to write that somewhere I can see! Probably somewhere near where I keep all the sticks I pee on. 😂 Interesting that sisters can have such wildly different syptoms!

Boobs-wise, mine still really hurt and, although they are usually the same size, my left one looks a lot bigger all of a sudden.

I'm glad to have got to the end of another first trimester day. So. Tired.

xine15 · 07/11/2018 00:19

Hi all, can I join too. EDD 11/7/19 with my first. So excited. Only been trying a couple of months and I had convinced myself it would take ages. Now starting to panic myself that I’m not having enough symptoms, although my boobs have already grown and are soooo sore. I’m always tired as I have ME but maybe am more than normal. Great to hear what you guys are all going through, it has put my mind at ease hearing how different everyone is. Look forward to sharing this with you all!

ratherbeshowjumping · 07/11/2018 05:13

Welcome @xine15 😊

I've been up since 2am with the worse anxiety I think I've ever had... I'm so worried I'm going to be a rubbish mum, worried that people are going to take control & judge me on how I look after & bring up my baby, worried about not saving enough money, worried about not being able to cope with my lifestyle & a baby, worries about pressure from certain not my side family members telling me to look after baby in a certain way. DH is still unwell & is sleeping in the spare room so he doesn't spend the night coughing all over me so not able to cuddle into him. I've never ever been like this before.

Laburna · 07/11/2018 05:25

@ratherbeshowjumping sorry you are having so much anxiety, I think it's normal, it's hard not to worry about the unknown. Whatever happenz, you will cope, things will change, but you'll find the way stuff is meant to be. There was a news article out this week that said it take new mums 3 months to get to grips with a new baby, and they're barely here yet! Worrying is normal though, I'd worry more if you weren't worried! Silly DH for being sick though, that's rubbish. We went through some tough times around DS birth when my DH was sleeping in the spare room. He had to so he could get decent sleep for work, but it's so lonely!

I had another amazingly vivid dream last night. They're so vivid but so mundane. Last week I dreamt I was playing on my phone...how dull! Last night I dreamt someone was trying to pass me a book, and I couldn't reach. I kept trying and trying and suddenly managed to grab it. I actually grabbed the phone charger cable, pulled my phone off the bedside table which smacked into the wooden bed frame and woke me and DH up. So now I'm panicking incase I start doing daft things like sleep walking. I shouldn't be moving while I'm asleep, should I?

ratherbeshowjumping · 07/11/2018 07:13

Thank you @Laburna judging from what dr google has said, it's a good sign & is nature's way of ensuring new mums are prepared - but wide awake in the early hours stressing & catastrophising about situations that probably won't even happen doesn't seem particularly helpful to me 🤷🏼‍♀️
It is really annoying that DH is sick at the minute as I could do with some help. I think that's what's started this whole nonsense off in the first place - feeling under pressure and watching DH sleep on the sofa all day (admittedly, he is actually not well) whilst I'm struggling with morning sickness & exhaustion but still working 10 hour days, looking after 3 dogs, 3 horses, trying to keep the house clean & tidy, cooking, cleaning. Why is it when women feel rubbish they can generally still function but when men do, the entire world must stand completely still?

TwinkleDay · 07/11/2018 07:26

@ratherbeshowjumping I can tell your struggling at the moment wth long hours, sickness and worry. 10 hour days are crap, I know how that feels but I’m sure your OH will be well enough soon. While your not feeling great just to the minimum, as long as the horses and animal shelter and fed until he’s back up on his feet then that should be fine. If anyone is to ask then just say you have come down with his lurgy. Bless you xxx

In other news I have just eaten a far too over ripe banana and made myself egg baps with salad cream for lunch, sounds vile actually for me on a good day but it’s what I fancy! Pregnancy is weird :/

TwinkleDay · 07/11/2018 07:27

OH and @pancakes22 brilliant that you work in HR! What’s the situation if I do my leave and don’t want to come back to work? Do you have to give money back? Not really looked into that bit yet

pancakes22 · 07/11/2018 07:32

@TwinkleDay it's very dependent on your contract and the type of policy you have for maternity pay. If for example you work somewhere where you only get statutory maternity pay then there is then no obligation for you to pay it back it you don't return to work. If for example for work for a company that gives an enhanced package and places like NHS/Schools etc then I'm aware you have to go back for X amount of time to avoid paying it back. You would have to check with your own HR team nearer the time if you get any enhanced packages x

HchyScott · 07/11/2018 08:37

Hello to the newbies and big hugs to you all that are having it tough at the moment, this really is a time full of worry. Got my fingers crossed for all of you. It really is lovely to have this group to speak to when things are getting tough.
Although I have had some positive news, took new urine sample to doctors yesterday after the first one had blood in it.. the new one didn’t! So abit of a mystery, they are sending it to the lab to be sure but I think I flushed whatever it was out, I drank sooo much water and was peeing like a racehorse!! Just can’t wait for the midwife to ring me to get a booking app. In. I had to tell work yesterday as I had 3 calls from the doctors and they were suspicious. I’m hoping that will lessen my anxiety, I hate keeping secrets, especially as it is affecting some things at work. Trying desperately to keep away from poorly people, there’s so much going around!!

TwittleBee · 07/11/2018 08:52

HchyScott YAY! oh what a massive relief! I'm the same about work btw, I am going to have to somehow get tuesday mid day off for my scan next week...

Frazzlerock · 07/11/2018 08:52

Morning everyone!

Hello to all the new people.

@HchyScott great news!

I've managed to start organising a surprise birthday party for DP for his 40th on 23rd Dec. It's kind of got a bit out of hand...

I put feelers out there by creating an event on FB and invited his family and close friends - wanting to keep it as small as poss because we'll be lucky to get a restaurant at that time of year, let alone for loads of people!
I thought that most people would be busy with xmas stuff and perhaps 5/6 people would come. But shit. Including children I have 25 people so far Shock

What the hell am I going to do with them all!? I'm going to ring around restaurants today and hope hope hope that one of them will take us all 2 days before xmas - at least it keeps my mind of stressing about our little Popsy...

Three more days until out scan, I'm really wishing this week away.

Laburna · 07/11/2018 09:02

That's fantastic news hchyscott hopefully the lab won't find anything either!

I've bitten the bullet this morning and rejoined the gestational diabetes network. I thought my sugars were under the limit but my fasting one is actually over about 90% of the time. I'm sure it's because of the morning sickness/not eating enough/just eating whatever I can, but given its like that at week 6, I'm pretty sure by the time I get tested it will be just as bad!

Little bit gutted because whilst not really overweight the last time, I'm 20lb lighter now and hoped it would make a difference :( I know it's really common to get it again after having it once, but I was really hoping I wouldn't get it again :(

TwittleBee · 07/11/2018 09:11

That is the same day as my kid sister's birthday! Good luck at organising something! What if you did something a bit different like bowling or ice skating, just thinking they might not be the sort of things booked up yet?

Laburna oh bless you, it just so common in so many women. Don't be feeling bad about it. And it really isnt always weight related either

Delilah7 · 07/11/2018 09:33

How do you guys stay so positive? I feel I'm so early. 5 weeks 1 day and given what happened in August with a MC I'm further than I was before but I'm still finding it hard x

GiGi18 · 07/11/2018 09:41

Hello all, hoping I can join! Congratulations to everyone. I’ve been reading the thread this morning but only managed to get through the first few pages, it’s so busy already! I found out on Monday I’m pregnant with my first baby, EDD 19th July. I’m so excited but anxious as I haven’t even officially missed my period yet. In terms of symptoms so far I’ve had some cramping (keep thinking AF is coming which is scary), tiredness and slight nausea if I don’t eat regularly. But on the whole I feel fine just a bit shellshocked and very lucky.

Frazzlerock · 07/11/2018 10:00

@Delilah7 we are all scared stupid but keep each other in a positive frame of mind if possible. I, for one, am terrified that this could end at any second.
Any time you have a wobble share it with us and we will try to put your mind at ease Flowers
