Green I’m the same with starting over again. Dd is 7 now and going back to the nappies etc stage is a bit daunting having done it a while ago but I’m hoping dd will get stuck in and enjoy helping and so in a way things might be a bit easier as she’ll be a distraction for the baby (it’s so early I hate talking like this as it feels like tempting fate). Dd is pretty good and sensible and loves playing with her dolls Grin

I love that there are 2 curlys on here!

Mummyto that’s fantastic, how lovely.

NatalieBee · 17/10/2018 21:01

@hexagon01 thank God you have had pox before, fingers crossed your boyfriend manages to not pick it up!

@Skee thankyou thankyou Grin

@mummytomollyandbean that's brilliant your scan went well, its amazing to see isnt it?

hexagon01 · 17/10/2018 21:06

@NatalieBee I know right! We had a scare last time I was pregnant as my parents couldn’t remember if I’d had chicken pox (!) and a close work colleague got it so my blood had to be tested so luckily I know for sure that I’m immune.

toasterstrudle · 17/10/2018 21:21

@Curlywurly3 I'm also 5+1 and no nausea here yet! Usually kicks in at 6/7 weeks for me. My lucky friend didn't get it at all!

@Mummytomollyandbean gorgeous scan x

stellarfox · 17/10/2018 21:50

Congratulations on the successful scans ladies!

tron84 · 17/10/2018 22:18

Hi just checking in. I'm 5+4 and it's my first pregnancy so completely daunting. No clue how the whole NHS process works so v keen to see the doctor to answer my endless questions. So far feeling ok, a lot of heartburn.
Any tips on how to use mumsnet would be great! I couldn't figure out DMs or how to reply to anyone from the app.

Skee · 17/10/2018 22:20

Hey @GreenDill, my older brother was 6 when I was born and we were so close growing up! x x

Glad to hear the scan went well @mummytomolly, lovely news 😊

Glad to hear you e had the chicken pox @hexagon, that’s s relief! x x

Skee · 17/10/2018 22:25

Hello @tron84 welcome and congratulations! x x

Where I am it’s a self referral to the midwife - I called my doctors surgery and they gave me the booking in number, who then arrange the first appointment and scan date. Maybe a wee call to your doctors might point you in the right direction? x x

Curlywurly3 · 17/10/2018 22:38

So last night I woke up due to my nipples hurting. They've been fine today. I've just taken my bra off and got into bed and they are hurting again!! 🙈 I think I'll have to sleep with my bra on to protect them from the duvet! I don't even tell my closest friends these things! I've also just realised when we make it to Facebook I can't hide behind CurlyWurly3 and you'll just know it's me.. the nipple chafing girl 😂

NatalieBee · 17/10/2018 22:40

@tron84 I'm in northern Ireland and here the GP refers you to midwife, you get your booking in appointment and 12 week scan and see consultant all on the same day at 12 weeks, which is crazy because when I had my first little girl in Scotland we self referred to midwife at 8 weeks, I feel like I'm not even really pregnant having not had booking in!

NatalieBee · 17/10/2018 22:41

@curlywurly3 I am in kinks laughing, get a sports bra on girl and get them bad boys contained Grin lol!!

Kescilly · 17/10/2018 22:48

@tron84 this is my first time too and I’m not familiar with the NHS process so it took me a while to get a straight answer. I ended up booking an appointment with the midwife through the local surgery and that’s where I’ll go for my appointment.

I’m really worried that my asthma meds are going to cause birth defects but since getting sick I absolutely need them to breathe.

SockQueen · 17/10/2018 22:51

Oooh, I forgot to get on the new thread! Hi everyone, how's it all going?

Had a very nausea-filled day today but still no actual puking.

Skee · 17/10/2018 22:51

@curlywurly 😂😂😂

Stormwhale · 17/10/2018 22:55

@kescilly - sorry to hear you are poorly. With regards to the meds, you clearly have no choice, it would be dangerous not to take them. Without you being ok, baby couldn't survive anyway, so I would put it out of your mind because the meds are essential. I'm on meds that I would rather not be too, but there just isn't another option.

poppyseed2 · 17/10/2018 23:00

@Curlywurly3 During my last pregnancy I got the tip probably on Mumsnet to wear a soft nursing style bra to bed. Much more comfortable than a regular or sports bra for sleeping, and it made a world of difference!

Kescilly · 17/10/2018 23:11

Thanks @stormwhale. I’m sorry to hear that you’re in a similar position. I keep telling myself that the baby needs me to have oxygen and there’s nothing else I can do.

I hate it because I’ve worked hard to get off so many meds and it’s difficult without them, but I was dealing with it. And then I got sick at the worst possible time. I’m just going to try to keep the medication to a minimum and hope for the best.

CollyWombles · 18/10/2018 01:15

.

stellarfox · 18/10/2018 01:42

@tron84 I would try to book with a midwife directly rather than go through your doctor. I booked an appointment with my doctor and they don’t even test you if you’ve done a home pregnancy test, they take your word for it. My doctor just said the standard don’t drink or smoke and book an appointment with the midwife! It was a bit of a pointless appointment!

On here you just type @ and then the username if you want to reply to someone specifically in your message

CollyWombles · 18/10/2018 06:20

Morning all. Wrote a big long message last night and it wouldn't post, so got pregnancy rage and went to sleep!

I am back at the hospital soon for repeat bloods. Really nervous but feel suitably sick and sore boobs, with a strong positive on a test last night so I am hopeful.

I decided to do a little tarot reading on this pregnancy and I'm fairly certain they were suggesting boy/girl twins! My first set of cards were of the Prince and Princess of swords (siblings!) and my second set there was a female and a male in exactly the same posture but in different suits. It's just for fun really.

For those concerned about needing to take meds, the key is the word 'need'. I take sertraline daily and I will do for life now. I do worry it might hurt the baby but me relapsing into another severe depressive episode would be far more dangerous to the baby. I'm sure those taking meds are taking them because they need to for the sake of their well being and a healthy mum has got to help make a healthy babe!

CollyWombles · 18/10/2018 06:24

These were the sets of cards!

curlypasta · 18/10/2018 06:48

It’s not really getting darker yet :(

Curlywurly3 · 18/10/2018 07:18

@curlypasta that looks slightly darker than the test you did two days ago. Perhaps try a FRER?

@poppyseed that sounds like a good idea.. thank you :)

Reastie · 18/10/2018 07:21

Curly agree with Poppy’s comments. I got a nursing crop top thing from mothercare and wore that in bed. It was a godsend.

Re medication, I’m on citalopram (anti anxiety/depression). I spoke with my gp about ttc a few months ago and they said they wouldn’t actively start prescribing it in someone pg if someone were already on it they would either switch it to another drug more suitable or keep someone on it until about 25 weeks when they would come off it before birth so the baby didn’t have withdrawal effects after birth. I was on 6 drops a day and over the past 7 months I’ve gone down to 1 drop a day so I’m still on it but a lower dose and I’ll come off it in the second trimester. Don’t come off any medication like that suddenly as you need to wean off slowly with doctors advice. Tbh I had terrible pg anxiety last time (didn’t realise it was a thing) andit would have helped me a lot probably to have anxiety medicatoin Ito get through it.

Skee · 18/10/2018 07:41

@kescilly I’m sorry you’re feeling so unwell, it’s just rubbish when you’re pregnant - is it a cold/flu, cough/congestion you’re struggling with?

If so, I remember having an awfully heavy cold last pregnancy. I found paracetamol helpful, and I used forehead which I found soothing. You can’t have strepsils I don’t think, but Jakeman’s throat sweets are fine - in particular, honey & lemon flavour. Hope you’re feeling better soon x x

I can only echo what’s been said already about medications, you need to look after yourselves too ❤️

Time will tell @collywombles! Hope the bloods visit goes well though x x

@curlypasta, have you tried any other tests? x x
