Quick questions ladies...

I am 24+2 and baby girl is moving lots on a day to day basis ..

Last weekend it seemed she was really active and constantly on the go.. now this week she is still kicking but the kicks almost feel lighter at some stages.. is this okay?
I feel her move so much every day and I have a Doppler ( I know there not recommended ) but I’ve been able to find her heart beat but will go on movement..

Just wondered if this normal.. or should I ring someone to ask for advice? This is my first baby so not too sure what’s best. But I guess aslong as I’m feeling her move that’s okay is it?

Alicejj8x · 02/11/2018 19:37
  • also do have anterior placenta
welshweasel · 02/11/2018 19:40

At 24 weeks there will still be variation but general rule of thumb is to call for advice if any change in movement.

Please get rid of your Doppler now though, there’s no point in it once you can feel movements - it shouldn’t be reassuring you at all!

Yakadee · 02/11/2018 19:43

Baby might have just changed position? X

AliceRR · 02/11/2018 19:44

@Alice the same thing has happened to me. I have had days where I feel I have felt less or less intense movements but then after a few days it has come back. Midwife I spoke to a couple of weeks ago said baby is still getting into a pattern whereas midwife I saw yesterday said to insist I am seen if worried. It seems it is normal but call for advice if you are worried.

hayley013 · 02/11/2018 19:59

@powkin I wouldn't worry about the weight gain, it'll go hand in hand with baby growing, last thing you need is that worry too. I've put 1st 7lbs on so far 😳 but I'm not really fussed.

@Alicejj8x I often notice different types of kicking but I think it's when she's moved position, just feels different. If you're worried of course call and speak to a midwife, mother's instinct shouldn't be ignored in my experience.

Surprisedmom · 02/11/2018 20:00

Anyone else had a tearful meltdown recently? The cheque my old landlord sent me for my deposit bounced and I just lost it. I’m so upset - it’s been two months and I still don’t have the money back!!! I am dreading having to take him to the small claims court whilst heavily pregnant (i’m really struggling to see another option as it’s been excuse after excuse from him and now a bounced cheque).

Alicejj8x · 02/11/2018 20:04

@welshweasel
Oh no I only use it occasionally hardly ever tbh but if I'm having a wobble I like to have a listen but I wouldn't ever rely on it too tell me if she's okay I would only ever go on movement

Alicejj8x · 02/11/2018 20:06

@AliceRR
Yeah I've heard that they are only still small so they wouldn't have a pattern atm and there is still space to hide. I also think the placenta plays a huge part too! Thank you I think I'll call xxx

Since2016 · 02/11/2018 20:10

@yakadee it’s awful isn’t it? She had an admission last year and is still under the consultant from birth and an asthma cns so we’re v well supportive it’s just the start of winter 😫

re weight. I kid you not - I put on approx 25kg with DD - I’m sure a lot was fluid but I wouldn’t worry about it. It all came off!

@suprisedmom I burst into tears at work yesterday, I've been doing some work on a casual basis for about a year and asked for a contract, they advertised and I only found out yesterday they put a closing date for today, had a proper melt down. I have been in touch and have until the middle of next week to send in a CV and covering letter so it's all ok (though I resent having to apply for my own job). They were worried about me enough I had texts today to check I'm ok!

AliceRR · 02/11/2018 20:13

@Surprisedmom I’ve been irritable and a bit emotional. Today I was travelling from a work thing on the train. There was an issue with the seat reservation displays which meant I sat in a reserved seat, which I wouldn’t have done, knowing I would want to sit down. Anyway the displays changed after we stopped at a busy station and I ended up having to get up. I don’t think it was obvious I’m nearly six months pregnant in the jumper and scarf I had on at the time. And I just felt really annoyed and started to feel a bit teary! I was like that last night too though, irritable, hormonal and teary. But I’m also tired and hungry and that makes me grumpy too!

Celebelly · 02/11/2018 20:14

I made DP put doppler in loft (and no way I can get up that ladder at the moment!) after I felt the first movement. Too dangerous to use as reassurance at this stage. There was a heartbreaking video recently of a woman who lost her baby, where she talked about how if she hadn't used the doppler and delayed seeking help because she had heard a heartbeat, her baby might be alive now. It really opened my eyes and I told DP to get rid of it.

Alicejj8x · 02/11/2018 20:16

Thank you!!!!! I just rang there so lovely aren’t they!
She said coz I have anterior placenta that can hide kicks she said she’s known women who have never felt their baby move coz of the placenta 😞 but she said if I am still feeling her move that’s a good sign but always good to ring and if she stops moving or movement reduces to ring back and there get me in 🙂 I feel much better now but she said she can be in a diff position and like kicking my back xxx

@Celebelly
Oh yeah I heard of that bless her. I wouldn't ever ever use it to have reassurance for sure It was only for a little listen here and there as I've had 2 MMC it just helps feel abit closer to baby for me anyway but I always go on movement I wouldn't ever rely on the Doppler

Lulabell1 · 02/11/2018 20:17

Just got out thd shower and DP said your nipple is pussing i looked im leaking milk already? How is this possible!! I squeezed the other side and it was exactly the same i dont remember this at 25 weeks last time

FrowningFlamingo · 02/11/2018 20:21

Alicejj I think you said the movement was more at the weekend? I can't remember if you work but I def feel baby loads more at the weekend and my day off rather than when I'm at work rushing about so could just be that!
surprisedmom I drove my car into a hedge and scratched it. While DH was watching. Cue hysterical sobs... he was quite cross with me but was so alarmed by the uncharacteristic sobbing he forgave me instantly (he's very precious about cars!).

FrowningFlamingo · 02/11/2018 20:23

A bit (?very) embarrassing but is anyone having problems with urine symptoms? I'm only 25+4 but am peeing all the time and leaking a bit too. I'm hyper mobile so was warned I'd get this but was expecting it to be nearer the end! It's making me worry about PPROM but I'm pretty sure it's wee...

Alicejj8x · 02/11/2018 20:25

@FrowningFlamingo
Yes I am a nanny so I am constantly on the go so I defo think your right with feeling them more when your relaxed and at the weekends. I think when we're on the go we do rock them to sleep also don't we.

AliceRR · 02/11/2018 20:28

@FrowningFlamingo Not leaking or anything (yet!) but definitely having more frequent and strong urges to go to the loo! I’m having a bit of discomfort in that general area so don’t know what it is half the time between needing the loo, baby kicking near bladder, PGP / pelvic pain and general stretching 🙄

AliceRR · 02/11/2018 20:29

I don’t know what PPROM is 🙈

Lulabell1 · 02/11/2018 20:30

@frowningflamingo

I had an episode last night i had a bath i got my pjs on and got in bed after about 10minutes i felt myself leaking quit a bit and then a bit more I panicked and jumped up! It was either wee even though it didnt smell of anything or bath water that maybe got sucked up and then came out after a bit?

powkin · 02/11/2018 20:32

@FrowningFlamingo - I have peed at least 9 times today at 24 weeks! I’m hypermobile too so not looking forward to leakage if that’s on the cards! Do you have the Squeezy app? It’s annoyingly naggy but it might help? Or can you get a physio referral for a bit more support?

maxiflump1 · 02/11/2018 20:37

@FrowningFlamingo yep I'm suffering wee leakage too!! Having to wear a panty liner as paranoid I smell like an old lady! Baby has a foot in my bladder I think as I'm peeing about 3 times during the night too. I was told to sniff it to double check it is urine and nothing any more serious

Surprisedmom · 02/11/2018 20:39

Thanks everyone, it’s good to know it’s not just me getting hormonal.

@Alicejj8x i’m glad your midwife was reassuring. I do find that with my anterior placenta my little one kicks in different places (I frequently feeling him kicking low down at the back, it feels a bit like being kicked in the coccyx).

I also wonder sometimes whether kicks and punches feel different? I figure baby must be punching too as sometimes I get “kicks” on both sides of my stomach in such quick succession that I think one side is his little fists. Either that or he’s a right little gymnast somersaulting around.

Alicejj8x · 02/11/2018 20:49

@Surprisedmom
Yes they are so lovely when I rang they don't make you feel like your being silly which I always worry about

Yeah I think the placenta plays a huge part. And now just after I've called the kicks are harder again lol always the way
