Ooh, I just cancelled my order at Mothercare as I found the Dream version of the Next2Me is on sale at John Lewis (only in a certain colour, but it's £50 off so I don't care!) and it will suit us slightly better than the normal version, in case anyone else is looking to buy.

lanalawr · 21/10/2018 13:13

This might not help but we liked our Chico next to me. We looked at the snuzpod last time because I liked that you could take the bassinet off but went with the Chico because dh is tall and we were expecting a long baby (not sure about the newer versions but at the time the Chico was longer). We took it to my parents to stay a couple of times too - it's not too difficult to take apart and comes with a little carry bag.

Months/weeks can get confusing because a 'normal' pregnancy isn't actually nine months (despite that being what's said). It's 40 weeks. Depending on what months that covers you get different answers when you try to convert it but it's closer to 10 months.

AliceRR · 21/10/2018 13:22

@emalady Yes I think unless you are flaming to someone who is pregnant or has had a baby the “weeks” thing means nothing. 24 weeks doesn’t sound like a lot but 5 and a half month is something people can comprehend more easily!

@notquiteagandt that’s good - I’m green!

I think the snuzpod3 might be slightly bigger than the snuzpod2? At John Lewis the woman doing our nursery advice took the mattress out of the snuzpod and put it into the Chico to show there isn’t much different now. TBH I just like the look of the snuzpod more although I know that shouldn’t be the most important consideration!

AliceRR · 21/10/2018 13:24

@lanalawr It is confusing as 40 weeks is closer to 10 but from my LMP (7 May) to my due date (10 Feb) is about 9 months 🤔

I am overthinking!!

Celebelly · 21/10/2018 14:07

LMP is a useless way of dating after first scan (and even for first scan if you have irregular or longer cycles). For example, my LMP was more than a week before yours, but my due date is only one day ahead of yours because I have long cycles and don't ovulate till around Day 19/20 of my cycle at the earliest. It's really only a rough guide in those early weeks.

Celebelly · 21/10/2018 14:13

Also remember that not every month has the same number of days, so using calendar months and trying to equate to number of weeks doesn't really work.

lanalawr · 21/10/2018 15:42

@AliceRR that would make sense because the 40 weeks starts counting from 2 weeks before your LMP.

@Celebelly that happened to me with my first. They moved my due date two weeks later than the LMP calculation because I had/have long cycles. Strangely it was only a couple of days later this time.

costacoffeecup · 21/10/2018 15:55

I've got lactulose (which doesn't seem to have any effect apart from horrendous wind) and movicol which I've been taking two a day of. Might see if I can get laxido as seeing gp on Tuesday...prune juice seems as rare as hen's teeth but it does work. Just not stocked in any of my local supermarkets and I keep forgetting to order it from Ocado.

Baby160P · 21/10/2018 16:03

John Lewis always price match or try and do better if that helps anyone's bargain hunting decisions. It's helped us!

emalady · 21/10/2018 17:02

@costacoffeecup movicol and laxido are different brands but exactly the same stuff so no point in changing really. You can take more of your movicol, 4 sachets a day is fine. Prune juice is probably better if it seems to be working for you though.

Lulabell1 · 21/10/2018 17:32

@baby106p I love john lewis My bestfriend works for waitrose so we use her discount card very handy.

Has anyone else just grown overnight? Its like now iv hit the 24week mark im massive

Surprisedmom · 21/10/2018 18:49

@AliceRR it is confusing as 24 weeks sounds like it should be 6 months if there were 4 weeks in a month, but every month is longer than that. I’ve just taken to saying i’m nearly six months pregnant to people who aren’t likely to be interested in the number of weeks.

Is anyone else having the issue that people think their bump is too small? Sounds silly perhaps but it bugs me that people keep refusing to believe i’m pregnant or telling me I can’t possibly be 23 weeks. My midwife today was perfectly happy with my bump size, but other people don’t.

This photo was me earlier this week and I feel blatantly pregnant, but it seems nobody believes me yet and it’s frustrating me.

AliceRR · 21/10/2018 18:56

People are weird when it comes to bump size. Many people have a certain point of reference eg their sisters’ massive bump at 8-9 months or someone else whose bump was barely there and also I think people are being polite when they tell me my bump isn’t that big but everyone is different, everyone is a different size or shape eg 🙄 and also im not offended when people tell me my bump is “getting big” (the admin girl in our team who is lovely tells me I get bigger every day!) as I’m growing a baby!

welshweasel · 21/10/2018 19:17

Ignore comments about bump size. I’ve beem told I’m massive and tiny by different people on the same day. Your bump looks perfect to me. I’m finding it entertaining looking at photos of me in my last pregnancy and this one wearing the same clothes - I reckon my bump is about 4 weeks ahead of what it was last time!

Notquiteagandt · 21/10/2018 19:20

@Surprisedmom hear you. I am really struggling with my body being touched, judged and generally being "public property". Im quite a privaite person with my body. So im finding it hard.

Comments I got this week where

"you just look like you need a good burp, wouldnt guess was baby in there"

"are you exspecting or just had a big lunch"

"good job I have youre notes as id never guess you where exspecting"

"are you sure you have your weeks right?"

All from hospital staff. I could of cried.
I am quite noticibly pregnant. I feel huge. So I am unsure where they come from.

Including comments from well meaning friends that include the words skinny, tiny, football belly, just looking bloated.

Think due to my HG I am just being overly sensitive. Just wish people knew how much of a fight it is too keep food down and the maternal guilt it is giving me.

I could cry just thinking about this. Comments really hurt.

Cant wait until the mw appointment where I get measured. Just for some reassurance.

Notquiteagandt · 21/10/2018 19:22

@Surprisedmom your bump looks fab btw! So I wouldnt worry at all Flowers

Since2016 · 21/10/2018 20:03

Honestly size is so hard at this stage. @welshweasel I also look at least 4-6 weeks more pregnant! I was this size with DD at 30 weeks I reckon! I am CONSTANTLY told by everyone how big I am. I think because it’s such a stark change (normally v flat) but I hate it.

I am seeing two friends this week - both first timers. One 10 weeks ahead and one 6. Both tiny. One is super competitive about weight and has always compared us. She’s also been told baby is small and she’s tiny. So I’m dreading it tbh. I had a LOT of fluid last time and a 9.11 baby - this time probably the same. I want to shriek at people to stop saying it and that it’s my second baby. So I call them a c* in my head.

No matter what I do I hate it, just have to try to ignore it!

I think everyone carries differently! I am quite tall so have never had a huge bump with my others. I had my scan last week and the sonographer said I was a dream to scan as I was skinny and had good muscle tone (she was prob just being nice) but pregnant with the 4th baby and having never been actually slim since having the first child I felt quite good about myself after that rather. I am still in my normal jeans and I have definitely lost weight with the sickness but baby is a good weight according to notes and I feel her kicking away lots so I'm trying to not get anxious about it all! I have a 36 week growth scan booked in (as I've always had them with my others) and I guess just know I hide my babies well!

We have already brought the snuzpod 3 and DH built it! Currently holding all the baby stuff! The bassinet is much bigger and lighter than the 2nd version (which is the one we tried in mothercare so it could have been the old version) we tried the newer one in our local department store and thought it was lovely! We did also like the next to me but it's slightly wider and wouldn't fit very well in the space we originally wanted it (though have moved bedroom round now!) it seems really well made and also like the fact you can store items underneath (need to get a couple of cute storage boxes to go underneath!)

twiglet · 21/10/2018 20:22

I'm in the big bump club with my first.....

Been getting a few comments on size work colleagues seem to be the worst.

Taken to saying yep I'm the size of a whale best keep me away from any Norwegians incase they hunt me and similar phrases with a deadpan face. It soon shuts them up and usually they get embarrassed and back track which is entertaining!

Good luck Since2016 I would end up saying something sarcastic if I had a friend try to do that to me!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 21/10/2018 20:22

I thought 23 weeks was 5 months, so at 25 weeks, you’re only just past the 5 month mark.

I know you can google the equivalent weeks/month, I did at 23 weeks 😂

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 21/10/2018 20:31

Sorry... meant at 24 weeks you’re just past, at 25 weeks you’re approaching the 5.5 month mark..

Surprisedmom · 21/10/2018 20:48

@Notquiteagandt I would be extremely angry if it was medical staff saying that kind of thing to me. I’m still narked by a midwife telling me i was very young (i’m not, i’m 29 and I thought it was very patronising).

I also totally hear you on the guilt front, my normal response to people telling me i’m too small is a very defensive ‘well the baby is actually quite big’. It’s really just because I feel criticised and like I need to defend the baby being healthy as I think people might think i’m not eating enough and looking after him. I guess it’s all preparation for parenthood and how much people judge you.

Lulabell1 · 21/10/2018 20:48

@suprisedmom

Your bump is perfect! Same as everyone else who has posted pictures dont let anyone tell you anything we all carry different wish i had a cute neat bump im huge then others who are small maybe wished they was bigger. On bump size when do they start to measure your bump? I might measure mine im sure theres something they go by thats you are so many cm to weeks or what ever???

Surprisedmom · 21/10/2018 20:50

@Lulabell1 my midwife said they start measuring after 24 weeks, so she didn’t officially measure me today but felt my bump when finding the heart beat and said the top of my uterus was exactly where it should be for 24 weeks and so she was happy.

AliceRR · 21/10/2018 20:52

Nurse said something to me like oh you have a neat little bump and said it was small but then asked how far along I was. When I said (think it was about 20 weeks at the time) she clearly rethought it and decided I wasn’t that small! But why make a judgment especially when you don’t know how far along I am?! Cause I could have been 3 months or 6 months and then she’d have had a different view.

People also say to me at work “you’re just sticking it out now”. Two people have said that to me. So weird.
