I come home from work everyday with the most swollen legs/feet @bubblybrit Im really waddling now too so finding it a bit hard I have put my foot down now though and told them I want a set lunch break and I dont want to be disturbed during that hour!!

hayley013 · 19/10/2018 14:26

I've noticed kicks are less noticeable lately, but she was lying feet down and head up at last scan, so I think I felt kicks a lot stronger against my bladder, whereas I have a feeling she's shifted down a little now, so kicks aren't as strong, only really feel them once I'm sat or lay down. My midwife also said not to worry until 24-26 weeks, but hopefully I'll notice more of a pattern soon. I'm convinced she's awake for longer than 6hours in a 24hr period though haha

Alicejj8x · 19/10/2018 14:28

My boss bless her has left a huge box of baby girl clothes for me to go through and take whatever I want so so many with tags on!😍 defo think we're stocked up on clothes for the next year 😂🙈

Celebelly · 19/10/2018 14:32

Babies still move plenty when they are asleep, so even though they sleep a lot of hours of the day, they will still be active.

lanalawr · 19/10/2018 14:45

@Yakadee the Nissan Qashqai is alright if you aren't planning on more than two and the people in the front seats aren't too tall. Not so good if you want to use a seatbelt to secure a child seat rather than isofix because the belts are short though. The cabin isn't quite as big as it looks but the boot is ok. I'm struggling with how I'm going to fit two children and a 6'5" dh in it because he needs his seat so far back (we both drive it so need flexibility with who is in which front seat). He can't drive if a maxi cosi pebble plus on isofix or two way pearl reclined are behind him.

I've heard good things about the Citroen c4 grand but not tried it for more than a couple of days as a hire car - massive boot though!

AliceRR · 19/10/2018 15:28

Feeling so weak and tired and grumpy today!

But baby seems to be moving around again which is the main thing!

bubblybrit · 19/10/2018 15:42

I really need to do the same @Lulabell1. Have been at work since 7am with no lunch break. Unlikely I’ll be leaving before 6pm either Sad xx

Yakadee · 19/10/2018 16:30

@lanalawr - we actually bought a qashqai recently, unfortunately it was a duff as got an error message on the way home from picking it up and nothing but problems. We had it less than 2 weeks. We had to return it and got our money back (not to mention the bad the service - don't get me started!!!).

I think they are lovely cars but wouldn't get another because of our experience anyway.

@Celebelly - I quite like the shortage ones - they're on my list.

Xx

maxiflump1 · 19/10/2018 16:39

24 weeks today for me! Feels like a massive milestone. I too had a few days this week where baby seemed quieter but back to full kicking and wriggling today.

Re cars we've just got a Ford CMax. Seems quite roomy especially in the boot so Hoping I can fit 2 DCs, Ddog, a buggy a 6'3" hubby in it!

Yakadee · 19/10/2018 16:44

@maxiflump1 - thanks, haven't looked at that one xx

welshweasel · 19/10/2018 16:45

Qashqai’s are actually deceptively small and terrible if you want to rear face your kids for a decent length of time.

I’d go for a proper estate - mondeo, Passat, Octavia etc. That way you get proper boot space and loads of leg room.

Yakadee · 19/10/2018 16:46

We've been looking at Skoda Rapid Spaceback. They look to have good boot space and decent size overall. Xx

AliceRR · 19/10/2018 16:53

We are interested in a new car too. We have a fiat 500x which I actually like. Haven’t tried it with a child yet but does have isofix as most modern cars do. I want something similar 4x4 style so reading with interest!

Baby160P · 19/10/2018 16:53

@AliceRR I was told not to use the kick counts app until 28 weeks or you'll worry yourself.

They can change patterns regularly at this stage so don't worry yourself xx

Baby160P · 19/10/2018 16:55

Car wise we just bought me a B Max.

It's like the new focus but has sliding doors which I think will be super handy with 👶🏽

AliceRR · 19/10/2018 17:05

Thanks @Baby160P I feel a bit better since she’s been wriggling more. Food seems to do it!!

sickmumma · 19/10/2018 17:05

Ladies I would just check before getting your cars what car seats fit too! We looked at the new isize Maxi Cosi pebble seat with base seat and the woman in John Lewis put our car reg in - she said the qasquais don't support the new isize seats which is surprising considering they are a family car!

We have a bmw gran tourer which is fab however is 7 seats so perhaps a little too big for a normal family! They do do a 5 seater version though and they are quite cheap for a bmw - same price as a ford s max!

MIL has a sportage which is lovely but it's not even two years old and has been sent back for repair about 3 times minimum already - one was a recall about 2 weeks after they got it and most recently the sunroof wouldn't close! Considering it's a brand new car it's pretty worrying!

Notquiteagandt · 19/10/2018 17:26

I am currently car shopping too. Funny as I already have my pram and carseat etc so think ill be the only person who buys their car to fit a pŕam rather than pram to fit in their car. So this advice is useful for me too.

Having only just passed my test also im dreadding to think what my insurance is going to be on a big car.

Has anyone got a bump belt? I barely have a bump but already feeling uncomfortable with seatbelt. But cant quite work out how they work.

This sort of thing?

Yakadee · 19/10/2018 17:46

@Notquiteagandt - not the only one 😊

AliceRR · 19/10/2018 17:46

I haven’t got a bump belt. Not sure we need one. I wear bottom part of belt below my bump and the diagonal part sort of across / between my boobs which is the advice I think

maxiflump1 · 19/10/2018 17:49

@Notquiteagandt I was given one of these by a friend when I was pregnant with DS. You basically attach them to the base of the seat and there's a strap that pulls the lower bit of the seatbelt down so that it doesn't sit on your bump. Personally I found it a total pain in the ass and didn't really use it much. I had forgotten about it until your post so don't think I'll bother hunting it out of the attic!!

Notquiteagandt · 19/10/2018 17:57

Ahh it was more my bumps not but not big enough to keep the belt down so it just rubs up and down. And just generally is really uncomfy.

But if its a bit pants I may not bother

Thanks for the heads up @maxiflump1

As for the qasquais @sickmumma I have the new cybex cloud and its one of the bigger carseats due to the recline and that fits in one. So maybe one to consider.

lanalawr · 19/10/2018 18:20

@Yakadee yea I'm not impressed with our Nissan garage either. Ours was bought second hand but through Nissan. Aftercare and servicing hasn't been good but I assumed it was just our garage. I don't think I'd have another one, or at least not until I've got teenagers.

@welshweasel estate cars usually have the same cabin space as the non-estate versions (at least all the ones we looked at did - they had to be ruled out for lack of legroom for dh to drive). Agree with your Qashqai comments though. If I was in a position to I'd be looking at a Skoda superb or a seat Alhambra.

@sickmumma I have a 2013 Qashqai with a pebble plus and isofix. Ours is on the fit list. Have a double check on the maxi cosi website (that's where I got the fit approval from). They may have changed the seat/car since ours though.

Hello!! Just trying to catch up after a week of feeling awful with a virus in my eye and throat, throat is starting to feel better now, eyes are still bloodshot but at least I don't look like I've been beaten up anymore as the virus gave me a black eye!

We've had to buy a new car too as we only had a 5 seater and will need a 7 seater once the twins arrive. We've gone for a merc GLS which is a bit like a tank but has a big boot even with the back row up, can easily fit my vista in so hopefully I'll be able to fit the donkey in too which my friend dropped off to me today! Have got the contact for a car seat woman who can come and work out what car seats best fit in what combination too fitting 4 car seats in is tricky!

23 weeks today, have another scan and consultant appointment on Monday, will be nice to see the twins again!

Baby160P · 19/10/2018 18:42

@Notquiteagandt I have a bump belt.

I was in a car accident at 12 weeks pregnant (not my fault) and was advised that even if you put the belt under your bump any serious impact could still cause harm so I had to go and be observed. It's not just the baby remember it is the placenta too and any impact could cause abruption.

I've looked into this loads since being in the accident.

The bump belt I got from John Lewis ensures the lower part of the belt goes across the top of your thighs and when pulled suddenly it pulls there rather than across or under your baby. It's a comfy cushion too.

Hope this helps your decision.
