@WonkyDonk87 I'm glad you're feeling a bit better now. It's always funny when you're seethingly angry/crying hormonally yet totally aware you're being irrational.

@LookingAtTheStars89 hope your rocky road is good. If not I've got a great recipe for it.

@Sooz have you given up caffeine altogether? I've gone down to one cup a day, but I'm too selfish to give up.

Sorry your sweep wasn't what you wanted @Limp. Fingers crossed the next one will be better.

WonkyDonk87 · 06/11/2018 17:19

I'm usually a strictly evidence based only kind of woman.... but even the lentil-knitty stuff has an evidence base. Have you read any of the Hypnobirthing stuff @LimpLettice ? Get your Oxytocin flowing!

My irrational tears were due to an up until now, very disinterested appearing DH, who finally 'got' that he needed to up his game and get involved.... who now says he can't come to the hypnobirthing taster session because of (surprise surprise) work. NEVER marry a man in retail ladies 🤦🏽‍♀️

SoozC · 06/11/2018 18:29

Yes, Si1ver, no caffeinated coffee for me, just the caffeine you find in chocolate! (And the very occasional cup of tea or fizzy drink.)

@SoozC. I'm hoping they will go! My thighs were already lumpy so good do without extras 😂. I have given up caffeine (apart from caffeine in dairy milk). My heart rate is already quite high so I'll leave off it until baby's here.

@LimpLettice. Sorry it didn't turn out how you'd hoped. I'm being induced and I'm already whining to myself about how long it takes!

@WonkyDonk87. I don't mind bruises, it's the unsightly lumps and sore thighs I hate. There's something icky about tummy jabs though, they give me the willys!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 06/11/2018 19:12

@Si1ver. Luckily it was good :-). I used chocolate, butter, golden syrup, digestives, marshmallows and glace cherries.

Si1ver · 06/11/2018 21:38

@LookingAtTheStars89 the recipe I have is chocolate, butter, flour, crushed malteasers, white chocolate fingers, white chocolate chips, marshmallows, glace cherries and icing sugar.

You only need a very small piece.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 07/11/2018 00:14

@Si1ver. Oooh yours sounds good! I might give it a try. My Dad loves Maltesers.

BGDino · 07/11/2018 06:04

My rocky road must be a different type: chocolate, coconut, gummy bears, slivered almonds, marshmallows

Been told by obstetrician I’m not to put more than 7kg on over the pregnancy but currently mad for Doritos and not resisting Confused Put 1kg on during first trimester >.< don’t want to think about GTT next week, I’m a sitting duck for GD as a) family history of diabetes b) Asian c) round Blush

Si1ver · 07/11/2018 09:39

That rocky road recipe is probably why I do have gestational diabetes. I've just had a call from the midwives. Glucose levels were just over the cut off point.

Ffs, I'm starting to get seriously pissed off.

LimpLettice · 07/11/2018 11:53

I have looked at a fair bit of it Wonky, and have been pumping and all sorts to get the oxytocin moving. I do have my limits though I'm too fat haha. Sorry you're facing similar Looking. It wouldn't be so bad but I'm balking against using extwat for much childcare if I'm in a while as he is very bitter about my remarriage and baby even though we split nearly 8 years ago and he has a gorgeously lovely partner who deserves better.

Oh no S1lver I'm sorry to hear that. Rocky road is not the why though! It's placenta / hormone driven. Sibling and dad both type 2 which raised the risk, as Dino says but it's not eating cake per se.

The FB group I follow while a bit annoying has been a godsend for keeping me diet controlled, but it's full of teeny size eight youngsters, not just geriatric chubbies like me. The NHS diet would have had me medicated months ago. And I've lost some weight since diagnosis, which is a bonus. Gestational Diabetes UK on fb.

My results were just over cut off as well but GD is progressive unfortunately, although mine is actually slightly less severe now at 38w.

IWantChocolates · 07/11/2018 13:18

Currently awaiting the third GTT blood test. Feeling pissed off with it all, having blood taken is one of my least favourite things and 3 in one day?! I'm hungry too.

How long does it take for them to let you know you have it?

SoozC · 07/11/2018 13:18

Yeah, it's me.

OP posts:
LimpLettice · 07/11/2018 14:32

Knew that time haha. I was tested Thursday, called Friday morning. Fingers crossed.

Si1ver · 07/11/2018 14:39

I'm absolutely fucking furious. The hospital mw called to make an appointment for me to come in and then started asking questions about why I wasn't tested in my last pregnancy and then made me repeat details of my miscarriage over and over again because she couldn't hear me. So eventually an appointment was set up for next Wednesday and I spent half an hour crying in the toilet.

Then another midwife called me back to demand I come in today (half an hour after she'd called) and got really pissy with me when I said no, because I was at work 50 miles away and 1. Couldn't make it in time and 2. Wasn't prepared to cancel my work for a non critical appointment with no notice.

AND it turns out that when they say boarderline, they mean under the cut off point by 0.1. So although I get it's important, it's clearly not critical and had i not had IVF they wouldn't actually be fucking treating me for it and it can easily wait until my arranged appointment.

WonkyDonk87 · 07/11/2018 19:15

@Si1ver I'd be furious too, and would have refused to go in for a non-emergency appointment. Why does the IVF make a difference for testing?

@SoozC Why are they doing it three times??? That's a lot of poking in your poor arm. Hope you've got good midwives taking your blood!

@LimpLettice Who says you have to involve him? 😉

LimpLettice · 07/11/2018 21:44

Well quite but he does his best to involve himself.

Might be academic though ladies. Waters went with a gush an hour ago, am currently bored witless in triage with no contractions while they decide whether to give me 24 hours at home. I shall keep you posted!

WonkyDonk87 · 07/11/2018 21:59

Eek!!! That's so exciting! Get walking @LimpLettice - we're rooting for you!

SoozC · 07/11/2018 22:25

Aaaaaaaaaaaah! Limp!!!!!!!!

Please keep us updated. Every half hour is fine. I will be checking my phone at regular intervals in the night when I'm awake anyway to see how you're getting on!!

Si1ver - it's ridiculous they expect you to be able to drop everything and go in last minute. And you might be borderline but you're under... Hope you get it sorted.

Wonky, they take blood three times for the GTT. I had it twice in my left arm which is now bruised and bloody just under the skin. I took the cotton wool off just now and it was pretty soaked in dried blood... Bleurgh. I don't want anymore blood tests for a while now!

Bought some heartburn relief liquid today, finally got fed up of having it nearly all the time. Also bought two boxes of 30 pregnacare vits - nearly bought a box of 90 but realised I won't need the last third!!! Had my first stranger convo about baby - the assistant in the pharmacy asked me how long left. When I said 7 weeks she said "wow". Not sure if she meant "Wow, not long" or "Wow, you're big for still having nearly two months to go"!

LimpLettice · 07/11/2018 22:37

Don't get over excited, it'll be ages. Monitoring now, but only occasional contractions so it'll be home to be bed for a few hours and not much else I'd think. I will though never fear!

LimpLettice · 08/11/2018 07:46

Morning Yammers. Still at home with not much to report. I've been having odd contractions here and there but nothing regular through the night. Send DH to work, parents coming a bit later, about to start cleaning the kitchen floor again haha.

Booked back in this evening for the dreaded induction if nothing happens today, so unlock your doors and windows, unknot your scarves and uncross your fingers for me.

DoAsDreamersDo · 08/11/2018 09:08

Ooh exciting Limp I hope you get going before the induction this evening xx

SoozC · 08/11/2018 09:59

I actually checked when I woke in the night! Just in case Grin Very excited for you!

OP posts:
LimpLettice · 08/11/2018 15:22

Well I'm back. Contracting a lot but not too painful yet. About to be examined so we can make a plan. Fingers crossed this goes speedily yammers! Live birth thread at this rate haha. DH looks a bit green.

SoozC · 08/11/2018 15:26

How exciting! Can't believe you might have him before the day is out! xx

Si1ver · 08/11/2018 15:55
