@Hopeislost is it wrong that a bit driving factor in the shark chair is being able to pretend that the shark is eating him when he won't stop crying? 😂

I think we're ok in the living room, the sofa has ok clearance for levering myself up, this chair is to go in the nursery.

WonkyDonk87 · 31/10/2018 17:19

Hi Yammers, Baby weight SOS here. I'm feeling VERY fed up of people telling me how big I am now, especially when they add "ooh, only 26 weeks, you're REALLY big for that".

Please give me some reassurance, I'm starting to stress out about it.

Si1ver · 31/10/2018 18:02

Ha, @WonkyDonk87 some idiot came into my office and said that to me the other day. To which I responded "did you just call me fat?" And then coldly stared at him until he apologised and left. He had to come back later and grovel because he did actually need me to do something for him.

I work on the assumption that most people are idiots and don't know what to say so panic and say the first thing that pops into their head.

SoozC · 31/10/2018 21:16

Wonky, I like Si1ver's reply of "Are you saying I'm fat?" Something forthright like that is surely the only way to stop people opening their mouth before they've engaged their brain.

But I absolutely would not worry about any weight you put on - it'll be for the baby and you'll lose must of it afterwards (that's what I'm telling myself, anyway!).

I am suffering - think I have thrush. Very 'moist' down below all the time and I think it's causing me to harbour bacteria and I'm itchy. Forgot to call the doc today so must remember tomorrow as I'm not sure what I'm allowed to take. FFS.

In happier news, I ordered some reusable breast pads that have arrived. While I'm not leaking as such, I do have "shiny" areolas and crusty nipples so wanted to have something in just in case. They are so nice and soft!

OP posts:
WonkyDonk87 · 31/10/2018 22:01

@SoozC Just had exactly the same..... don't doubt yourself - it's thrush. I put up with it for bloody ages too, thinking it was 'one of those pregnancy things' and that I should just put up with it. Ring your GP and get some canesten 😉

Need to overhaul my diet and walk more, feel very crap atm and don't want it to overshadow the rest of my pregnancy. Thanks for your kind words.

LimpLettice · 01/11/2018 08:11

I've been looking at some Sooz where did you get them?

Bit late to the party Wonks but ignore ignore ignore. People have been asking me if it's twins etc since about 20 weeks and I actually think I look quite good! It's the old pregnant women are public property crap, people think they are free to make personal comments, and many seem to see looking big as some sort of isn't your baby growing well compliment. Please don't stress. It's good to keep active and not go bonkers on the chips, but it's also laying down breastfeeding reserves and will go with a bit of effort next year.

First day of no work without a school run as DD spent last night at her dads. So far she's been in twice. Once coz he can't do a ponytail (3 daughters mind) and then two mins later coz he doesn't keep in any breakfast. They've gone now but boo to my lay in. Pfft.

Si1ver · 01/11/2018 13:08

If anyone wants something nice to make them feel better, I've just bought this dress in the sale. It's super flattering and it cost me £15

SoozC · 01/11/2018 18:08

Looks nice, Si1ver, but I am trying not to buy any more maternity clothes! I have so many already, although some given to me, and I need to buy a winter coat too.

Limp, they're from The Nappy Lady. 'Little Lamb' washable ones, a pack of 10, 13cm diameter. Haven't worn them for any length of time yet but they are soft and I like the idea of non-disposable ones.

Hi everyone glad to hear you’re all nesting by the sounds of it! I’m 14+2/40 now, currently in Korea for a conference but missed today after waking up feeling awful and culminating in vomiting into the hotel wastepaper bin... which DH had to clean up Blush Hadn’t been sick all first trimester, just lots of nausea. Not sure what happened there. Have to keep an activity diary for the trip to record what I did each day (as work is paying) so hoping if I just write “pregnant - vomiting” I won’t get a hard time about missing a day...

When did everyone start to show? I was round pre-pregnancy (5’3” size 16) and instead of looking pregnant I just look rounder Confused which isn’t doing much for my self-esteem...

SoozC · 04/11/2018 08:46

Apparently, even at about 22 weeks I was hiding my bump well - people didn't realise I was pregnant unless told. I thought it was obvious, but it wasn't, I just looked fatter!

I'd say round about 24-25 weeks did it become obvious I wasn't just fat. I think having wide hips and large breasts meant it just kind of blended in. Even if it is a bump that sticks out the front; from behind you'd not know I was pregnant!

How are we all doing ladies? I'm a hormonal mess and/or my DH is a knob (well less him, but his work are being knobs) so spending my days in silence/tears/rage atm. What fun! Hope you're all much more regulated than I am 😂

LookingAtTheStars89 · 06/11/2018 09:59

@WonkyDonk87. That sounds like me at the minute. Hormonal mess - along with insomniac, being breathless and having indigestion! Ohbamd fat lumpy thighs from my jabs!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 06/11/2018 10:00

Oh and*

WonkyDonk87 · 06/11/2018 10:17

I have fat thighs too.... but that's biscuit related. Had whooping cough and flu jabs today so going to have sore arms though.

Si1ver · 06/11/2018 10:40

I cried on the way home last night because someone cut me up @WonkyDonk87 so you're definitely not the only hormonal mess.

I'm having my GTT this morning, I've got 20 minutes left to wait and if I don't have have some coffee soon I'm going to kill someone.

LimpLettice · 06/11/2018 10:51

I'm off for a sweep this afternoon, wish me luck! I'm shattered, just want this baby moving now.

Not too bad on the mood front though. If it makes you feel any better, at the end of my first pregnancy I cried / ranted and begged down the phone at an M&S customer service person for about 40 minutes quite late in the evening and still blush at the thought. My upset was that I'd bought 2 of my favourite ready meals (no kitchen due to building work) and both were covered in pepper. It was snowing, I was starving, and I hate too much pepper. So I called and asked them to bring me more . They didn't. Poor bloke though.

Hope the gtt goes ok Sooz. I advise a lot of cake straight after just in case they ring and consign you to weeks of protein and dust. Ha.

Si1ver · 06/11/2018 11:27

Good luck with the sweep @Limp.

I'm already eyeing up the KitKat chunky in the fridge.

SoozC · 06/11/2018 12:11

I'm hormonal too, Wonky. I messed up my GTT last Tuesday by eating breakfast (didn't remember it was a fasting thing!) and cried on the walk home to DH that I'd made him go all that way for nothing. Doesn't quite compare with Limp wanting the M&S man to bring her new ready meals, though! Grin

I have fat thighs too, but they were always fat.

Good luck with the sweep, Limp. Does it mean you're going to give birth imminently?!?!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 06/11/2018 12:32

We were up at dawns crack this morning to get to the GP surgery, it was way before school so I had to take my DD's too. I had a very blunt nurse who told me that I had hurt my thighs due to bad injection technique and then went onto tell me that I should do my tummy and I had a good bit of "paunch" there to do it! Baby was not best pleased at having my flab grabbed and DH looked mortified that my tummy is my new jab site!

@SoozC Ha ha! Mine were fat too but now they have some lovely hard lumps under the skin Confused. I nearly messed my last GTT, I made some breakfast and then remembered.

@LimpLettice. Good luck :-)

@Si1ver. Mmm KitKat Chunky.... I made rocky road earlier. I hope that will be yummy.

@WonkyDonk87. I thought the whooping was painful! Shit that reminds me, I haven't booked mine in or my anti D!

WonkyDonk87 · 06/11/2018 13:51

Thanks lovelies - still a bit grumpy tbh but feeling a little better.

@LimpLettice Good luck with your sweep - hope it's helpful. Your M&S story made me laugh, Thankyou!

@Si1ver How did it go? Have you rewarded yourself now? Glad I'm not the only hormonal mess.

@LookingAtTheStars89 Tummy is better I think for injecting, but you'll probably bruise there too. X

LimpLettice · 06/11/2018 14:20

God I could murder a kit Kat. Boo. Glad everyone's a little cheered.

I'm not, I'm irrationally pissed at my cervix. Baby is proper engaged, hence the hourly peeing all bloody night, cervix is soft, but clamped shut. So no sweep and baby unlikely to be imminent. Next one next week. So badly want to avoid induction but nothing doing yet. Going to go for a long hike tomorrow and try pumping for a few days but not amused. Come on, cervix!

SoozC · 06/11/2018 14:35

Ouch, Looking, lots of jabs in thighs or tummy don't sound fun. Sad I'm assuming they go soft again after a while? You're not left with hard lumps? How does it work?

Hope you got your coffee, Si1ver. I can't wait until the time I can have a REAL coffee... There's a Pret in our hospital (there was a Costa too but it's gone :( ) so I'll be having a nice, caffeinated latte as soon as little one here makes an appearance.

So a sweep is a way of starting labour? So, you're about 37/38 weeks, yes, Limp? Sorry, I must have missed why you're having this done early (or maybe I've just forgotten - baby brain). So another sweep next week, so you could possibly have your baby boy by next weekend?! Fingers crossed your cervix plays ball next time!

Apologies for starting so many sentences with the word 'so' in previous post; I think pregnancy has zapped my pedantic literacy skills!

OP posts:
LimpLettice · 06/11/2018 15:11

So.

Sorry! 38 + 1 Sooz. In theory the sweep can get things moving yes. The problem is that my age plus GD means I've had to fight to avoid early induction. They are letting me go to 40 weeks, but then it's induction which I'm so anxious about. It means no m/w unit, a lot more monitoring = less mobility. It's also usually lengthy, and the GD automatically already means a longer stay as this boy has to pass a load of blood sugars, 3 at 4 hours apart. DH has only a week pat leave as he changed jobs. Childcare for DD is a mission. Oh and induction much more likely to lead to fucking intervention and I'm terrified of forceps / CS. So I am absolutely desperate to get things going naturally ASAP! Plus I'm a total lentil knitter and just want things to be as natural as poss.

And breathe. Sorry, I'm more worried than I realised. Bugger.

SoozC · 06/11/2018 16:15

"Lentil knitter" 😂

I get you now. I will absolutely keep fingers crossed for next week's sweep so you get the natural birth you want. I'm the same - don't want intervention if at all possible. My mum was surprised when I said I wanted a water birth - neither of us realised it was my thing! (And reusable nappies etc.)
