Sounds like a lovely day Bumper. Have a good sleep. All this talk of babies is making me want mine and I am last on the list .

Hope all is okay TA, if you come back tonight.

Sleep well all!

trendaverter · 16/06/2007 23:26

Thanks all for the well wishes

Well I was in a lot of pain that I couldn't explain so called hospital who said I had to go in - an hour on the ctg showed I was having mild irregular contractions but baby was fine.

I talked to doctor about induction fears and delays and he was very good. Pointed out all the facts and risks and was understanding that I wanted to give my body a chance to do its natural thing.

Anyway the upshot is I have been rebooked for an induction on Friday night, but I have to go in daily for monitoring. Not fun but I knew it could happen if I delayed. I feel a bit happier about this really, just giving my bod a couple of extra days. I hope I have made the right desicion, they were keen to point out that now I had cancelled my 'slot' I would be lower priority.

The pains I was getting? Just stress/anxiety. I feel like a wanker.

Congratulations Catkin, sounds like you had a stressful time, bet you are glad you're home with your LO Callan x

Hmmm, been awake for an hour and can't get back to sleep so thought I'd pop on here.

TA, glad you are ok, but WTF are they going on about "low priority", surely you should be higher priority by then?! Grrr, coz god forbid you want to do things your own way, they just have to add a sting in the tail don't they? I wouldn't worry, if there is any problem and there is a possible risk there is no way you will not be a priority.

Random question to you post-natalers - when you BF at night do you do it in the dark or do you put a light on?

still awake! Tried to go back to bed but DH is back in the marital bed and is keeping me awake with heavy breathing! He said to kick him out if he was snoring, but he's just heavy breathing, but now I am awake it's all I can hear. Plus I've been up 2 1/2 hours now, so pretty awake now. Grrr. I had been sleeping so well, and had a nice little routine where I only woke up once in the night to go to the loo, get back into bed, swapping sides with my v pillow and sleeping till 9 or 10. Today I have slept for about 3 hours. Grrr!

Now the question is, do I let DH stay in our bed so I get used to sleeping with him again or do I make the most of that fact that I have been sleeping really well without him and banish him to the spare room again?

Hi Bumper

Hope you manage to nod off again....I sympathise with you- I haven't slept a wink all night either. I started with pains at around 1am, which seem to be getting preogressively worse. Some of them are quite short though? I think they're around every 6 min or so, but can't be sure, as some of them are longer than that.Starting to make me feel nauseous, like really bad period pain. Home they're not just BH after all this...
Not sure if to go to hozzy or not? Don't want to drag my carcass up there for nothing.

Poor you TA, you're not a wanker, Pregnancy is bloody stressful, and your situation made worse so by being as overdue as you are. Hang in there.

x

Still there Bumper?

I've been awake since 4 and I'm on my own. That really really sucks

foxybrown · 17/06/2007 05:36

Morning Pingu. Have you managed any sleep?

pinguthepenguin · 17/06/2007 05:42

not one minute foxy, pain is getting worse

foxybrown · 17/06/2007 05:45

Have you got the contaction timer? here, I'll get it for you

get timing

foxybrown · 17/06/2007 05:46

Do you think they are contractions?

Warm bath or shower and a couple of paracetemol are the first port of call, m'dear! And a cup of hot sweet tea.

pinguthepenguin · 17/06/2007 05:47

thanks foxy, had just been looking for that online

ouch!

pinguthepenguin · 17/06/2007 05:49

it's hard to tell.....how do you really know? I've tried the paracetamol an hour ago, no joy. I can't lie down, they seem to get worse if I do. Making me feel sick with the pain

foxybrown · 17/06/2007 05:53

It helps me to remember that my body is doing what it needs to and I can do nothing about it. Let it do its thing. Try to relax and control your breathing.

If it helps, this is what I do:

When I'm in labour I visualise a time-line, with a start and end, and notches inbetween. (OK, stay with me on this one). As each contraction comes and goes, I move along this line, each notch (each contraction) falls away as the contraction subsides.

I tell myself my body only has to deal with a certain number of contractions, so with each one I'm closer to being fully open.

There comes a point when things get going that you'll just zone out and that brings some comfort.

This stage is the painful stage. It stops when it stops, and then you start the next stage (the pushing bit) which isn't painful, but it is hard work.

foxybrown · 17/06/2007 05:56

Do you have an exercise ball? Try leaning over it so it supports your upper body and moving your hips.

Does walking around help?

You might feel sick and be sick, and get the runs. Your body will clear itself out.

make sure you keep drinking.

pinguthepenguin · 17/06/2007 06:00

Thanks alot for that foxy, you're kind to take the time. I've pooed twice already and each pain seems to make me feel sicker. I do get some ddome relief from walking. Lying down is unbearable.

Here hoping this is it

foxybrown · 17/06/2007 06:02

It sounds like it!

Where's the pain? Is it in your back or belly?

pinguthepenguin · 17/06/2007 06:09

all in lower belly, like the most hideous period pain. Just phoned ms, she said to come in when they're every 5 min or so, trouble is, I can't concentrate hard enough to time them properly. Goind to go wake DP then have a bath. Will try to keep you posted.

Thanks foxy

hollyandalice · 17/06/2007 06:11

Morning all, didn't expect anyone to be up!!

Pingu, hope you are ok! Work with the pain and do whatever your body tells you to, scream, run around, lie down, whatever! I can see good old foxy is helping you, you are in safe hands!!{grin]Hope this is it for you!

TA you are not a wanker at all, you are fab! All the contractions you have been having will be doing something and I'm sure that baby will show up any day! xxx

foxybrown · 17/06/2007 06:12

Hope the bath helps.
