@ladycarlotta and @wineandchoccy thanks!! I'm just so paranoid that I'll go and they'll all be really good/flexible and naturally they will be better than me. I'm a very sporty person with stuff I've done since a child and know I'm better than most other people but as an adult I've never really liked stuff where I know others will be better than me. But I'm treating it as a life lesson as I want my child to embrace sports like I did when I was younger.

Do you mean like slipper socks type things but for sports? Might invest in some over the weekend as my feet get really cold, always.

Sorry you've been having a bad time @melissa121. But as others have said the midwife's are there for you to seek them out, and don't worry about being off work sick as these things just have to happen. From what you've said it sounds like you have a good relationship with your boss and a reputation for being a hard worker/not taking the with sick leave so take as much time as you need when you actually need it.

Angelmiracle · 19/10/2018 08:31

@melissa112 I hope a good rest today will make a difference and you're not in as much pain. Ring GP if you just don't feel right.

@assumeitwassomethingclever re sleeping I remember this being discussed on woman’s hour when the new guidance came out - they said it was falling asleep on your side that was important and if you woke up on your back not to worry. Sleeping on the left hand side is associated with a decreased risk of stillbirth so definitely worth giving it a go.

Nightmanagerfan · 19/10/2018 09:09

@cardboard33 I’ve stared pregnancy yoga and it’s lovely - very gentle with lots of stretching and breathing exercises that will be useful in labour. The teacher is pregnant too, with her fourth, so I feel in good hands! It’s also been a good place to meet people at a similar gestation and three of us are booked on to the same NCT class. I have done yoga for years but I think pregnancy yoga is very mild so don’t worry

BadBadBeans · 19/10/2018 09:40

@cardboard33 I did one pregnancy yoga class last time (in Glastonbury of all places) and I didn't enjoy it much because I felt like I was barely doing anything! However I was in the third trimester then so she was probably going easy. I will be interested to hear how you get on. I've got Pilates tonight and the teacher has promised to look up some pregnancy suitable alternatives for me as the last couple of classes I've had to sit out of about 20% of it! Looking forward to that.

Murphyrocks · 19/10/2018 10:12

@cardboard33 I've never done 'normal' yoga but did pregnancy yoga all the way through last time and doing it again this time, I love it and find it really helps me get in touch with how my body is changing. Good for dealing with the moodiness too! I also did baby yoga with my first which was lovely.

Angelmiracle · 19/10/2018 12:05

I'm starting Pilates in 2 weeks. I've always went so hope the pregnancy class is doable. We have you bring our own pillow Grin I'll be asleep by the end lol

Thanks ladies, I'll let you know how I get on!

@badbadbeans I'm also worried I will find it a bit placid/not active enough. But we shall see. The main reason I'm giving it a go is because I want to meet more pregnant people in our area before NCT starts in late January and it seems this is the main activity for pregnant women where we live, and also I've read that baby yoga is supposed to be fun... And I feel it'd be even odder to go to baby yoga without having done it.

The lady wanted me to sign up to a block of 7 sessions but I said I'd payg for this one time and decide if I wanted to come back!!

orangekitkat13 · 19/10/2018 13:20

I've been doing Pilates for a few weeks, I'm finding it pretty tough actually. Might try yoga instead to see if it is a bit more relaxing.

LittleKitty1985 · 19/10/2018 14:23

Just had my scan today (I'm 21 weeks). The sonographer sent me to have a coffee to get him moving and now I have such a caffeine high, I'd forgotten what I've been missing!

Also my arm is really killing me from my whooping cough vaccine, ow!!!!

Nightmanagerfan · 19/10/2018 17:54

Lovely scan @littlekitty1985 you can really see the baby’s profile and features. Nice you enjoyed the caffeine hit too.

This holiday is turning into a bit of a disaster. I’m over the food poisoning but my pregnancy sickness is back with a vengeance. Thrown up three times today and had to dash back from the pool on one occasion. Back to the first trimester diet of white carbs and sugary drinks Hmm

Angelmiracle · 19/10/2018 18:55

Really nice scan pic @LittleKitty1985 Smile I'll be almost 21 weeks before getting mine. My arm hurt getting whooping cough with DS so not looking forward to that!

Anyone else starting to feel like this child is using their bladder as a trampoline?

Angelmiracle · 19/10/2018 21:32

@WhatALearningCurve not as yet thankfully! That must be so uncomfortable. I'm 17 weeks today and have noticed all week the baby is always on the left side of my tummy! Has anyone noticed baby on just one side?

OP posts:
Shampooeeee · 19/10/2018 21:35

@Angelmiracle mine was always on the left hand side around that time too. Now I’m 21 weeks and it seems to be everywhere!

PurpleFlower1983 · 19/10/2018 22:03

Has anyone else used the doppler apps? I was completely skeptical but I’ve just heard my little girl’s heartbeat clear as day and now she’s kicking like mad! Grin

ballanj · 19/10/2018 22:14

@WhatALearningCurve I've been feeling it so much in my bladder this week! The worst was when I set off for one of my weekly runs and it just felt literally like Hulk was having a party in there. It's only after a mile I'm convinced baby shifts position to give me an easier time until I can get back and pee!

ballanj · 19/10/2018 22:16

@Angelmiracle I'm pretty certain baby has been on my left side this past week, has just felt different on that side in particular, harder I guess. I'm 19 weeks now.

ballanj · 19/10/2018 22:21

@PurpleFlower1983 which Doppler app did you use? I'm only 19 weeks so don't want to cause myself unnecessary alarm should I not be able to pick up the baby's heartbeat!

Angelmiracle · 19/10/2018 22:30

@Shampooeeee @ballanj Its so strange cuddled up to one side all week! Like you say it's a lot firmer and all movement on left side.

@PurpleFlower1983 An app?! 😱 no way!!

OP posts:
PurpleFlower1983 · 19/10/2018 22:37

I typed in My Baby's Beat which was the recommended one but accidentally downloaded one called Tiny as that came up first. It worked though! I was pressing on too much at first but after a while I positioned it right and got a clear heartbeat, I've got 4 recordings now! It's definitely not mine either as I recorded that too and it's much slower!

PurpleFlower1983 · 19/10/2018 22:43

There’s lots of bad press around these apps though so not sure how reliable they are if at all! Sounded like a heartbeat to me though!!

BadBadBeans · 20/10/2018 16:34

Gorgeous scan @LittleKitty1985!

@cardboard33 yes good idea to try one before committing. Mine was in quite a spiritual setting (it was in Glastonbury after all) which is not really my bag, and I felt a bit out of place! Pilates last night was v good. All hip work. It felt quite painful last night and I thought I had pushed it too far, but actually today I feel good.

Feel a bit sceptical about Doppler apps... But then I am wary of home Dopplers anyway. Please be careful everyone!

I feel so rude ladies, I haven’t read this thread for days. I’m just completely up the wall with my best friend being in a hospice (stage 4 bowel cancer which has spread to liver - she’s incredibly poorly) I’m running round like a headless chicken with visiting her, taking care of her son, working, taking care of my DD, running my house etc... I will catch up on all posts but I need some advice in the meantime.

Friday night my friend asked me to come to the hospice to keep her company. I was there until 1am. She had been unwell the day before with diarrhoea but I just thought this was part and parcel of cancer. She asked me to give her a hand massage, so of course I did. I did scrub my hands afterwards with the soap in her hospice room, and I scrubbed them again when I got home. Anyway, today she has been diagnosed with C Diff? An incredibly contagious infection in the gut. What are the chances i’ve caught it? I’m terrified. It was 48 hours ago that I last had contact with her and i’m wondering when symptoms would show if I did have it? Symptoms are severe diarrhoea and stomach cramps. I’ve looked online and it’s pretty bad. Does anyone work in a medical setting or know much about it? My anxiety is through the roof once again. My poor, poor baby has a mum who isn’t enjoying this pregnancy at all. I’m constantly anxious and scared. I’m so worried i’m harming him.

Yesterday I took a really funny turn. This overwhelming nausea overtook me, I felt dizzy and light headed and had my head down the toilet for 10 minutes but couldn’t bring anything up. Could this be a sign that I have C Diff?
