@Murphyrocks thanks for the reassurance. I rang them back after posting as got quite a bad period of cramps and they've said to come in between 7:30-8 tonight and they'll check me over but they don't think it's anything to worry about. Maybe even the start of a UTI, hope not! But rather be safe than sorry I guess so we'll head up there in a couple of hours.

Nightmanagerfan · 18/10/2018 17:25

@melissa112 sorry to hear that you’ve been in pain - glad you can see someone and hopefully put your mind at rest. Best to get checked out especially if the pain is bad.

Kee80 · 18/10/2018 17:30

@Angelmiracle thanks for that.
I've tried sleeping on my side but find it really uncomfortable and end up waking on my back.
Think I may try propping myself up with a few pillows from tonight

cardboard33 · 18/10/2018 18:05

@wineandchoccy yes, we read that on BBC news before work this morning. Seemed mostly around if you put the box on the floor and/or if it got wet?

Had an entertaining time reading this thread whilst away with work, thanks :)

Ladies... I've signed up for pregnancy yoga starting next week having never done yoga (or anything like it) before in my life. I spent my life swimming and don't really like the gym. But I've always wanted to give yoga a go so figured why not... But what does one wear to a yoga class?? Also, stupid question but do you wear trainers or do it in bare feet??

ladycarlotta · 18/10/2018 18:24

@cardboard33 ooh enjoy! When I've done yoga before I've worn leggings and maybe a loose top with a tighter one underneath it to keep you covered up during your contortions... socks or bare feet IIRC. Let us know how it goes, I was recommended a class in the area I'll be moving to but it seems too far away to start there before I'm actually living there. Really fancy it though.

Bluebelltulip · 18/10/2018 18:27

@Kee80 at a physio group appointment they talked about this. There isn't a risk to baby but it does restrict your blood flow which can cause dizziness etc. Advice was to put a pillow behind your back to stop you rolling back or if you can't do that prop your back up to ~30Β° and put another pillow under your knees.

thefirsttimer · 18/10/2018 18:31

Really struggling to keep up with this thread sorry everyone - by the time I've caught up I've forgotten everything I want to reply to! Thank God for the Facebook group!

Quick update from me is I hit 22 weeks tomorrow! Feels like it's going so fast. 20 week scan was all good, and am feeling baby move much more now, so starting to allow myself that little bit of relaxation.

Glad to see news of all the other 20 week scans start to filter in!

thefirsttimer · 18/10/2018 18:35

Correction - I hit 22 weeks on Saturday! Had the Friday feeling already for a moment οΏΌ

SquirtlesMumAgain · 18/10/2018 18:36

Having lots of pains like that @melissa112, though mainly across my belly rather than down below. Constantly feels like I have pulled a muscle, but pretty sure it is just normal. My bump is massive though compared to last time at this point. I look easily 6 months plus pregnant but I am 18 weeks!

Angelmiracle · 18/10/2018 19:17

I feel so big this time too @SquirtlesMumAgain I can't even try to hold it in now πŸ˜„ Wearing maternity tops to help it look like a bump.

@cardboard33 I have just signed up for antenatal Pilates and my information says leggings or comfy trousers, a t shirt and bare feet or socks with grips on the bottom so I guess yoga will be similar.

Miami81 · 18/10/2018 19:34

@Kee80 just on the sleeping. Tommy's have a campaign to encourage side sleeping. In particular their focus is on the final trimester. It improves blood flow. So loads of time to start training yourself up with a wedged pillow. Loads of info on the Tommy's website. They encourage left side as best if you can manage at all. Main detail is to try and go to sleep on your side and then if you wake up on your back just to roll back again onto your side.

Kee80 · 18/10/2018 19:56

Thanks @Miami81 I do go to sleep on my side and end up waking in the night on my back. I find sleeping on my side gets really uncomfortable but I guess I will have to get used to it

Angelmiracle · 18/10/2018 19:56

Hi @thefirsttimer good to hear all is well with baby and you. Glad you can relax now and have reassuring movements!

Thanks @Miami81 that's really interesting, just looked it up:

www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/sleep-side-pregnancy-campaign

Looks like there's quite a lot of recent evidence that going to sleep on your side in the third trimester reduces the risk of stillbirth. I've tried to get into this habit early but more often than not still wake up on my back! Efforts must be doubled...

BadBadBeans · 18/10/2018 21:50

@melissa112 hope your check up went well.

I have definitely felt baby kicking away tonight! DH was fairly sure he could feel it too. So exciting. I reckon I have had the odd movement over the past couple of weeks but this was the first time I've had a series of kicks in one place and could be really certain. It's lovely. I adored this aspect of pregnancy with DS and I'm excited to be there again now!

melissa112 · 19/10/2018 07:11

Got in from the hospital just before 1:30am. They listened to baby's heartbeat, did a urine sample which was clear and an internal exam and said everything looked ok. They couldn't find a reason for the pain so sent me home which is reasonable but this morning it's just as bad. I just have to trust their assessment and hope it is all normal pulling and stretching. Didn't expect it to feel so bad! Working from home today at least but I'm shattered now!

melissa112 · 19/10/2018 07:12

Oh and just to have a lovely and to the evening, when I got home last night I for some reason just threw up loads. I'd felt a bit nauseous and weird all day but ugh.

Miami81 · 19/10/2018 07:15

@melissa112 did they check your appendix? How are you feeling now? Maybe give your mw or gp a buzz and see if you can drop in today. You poor thing.

Miami81 · 19/10/2018 07:23

It is entirely possible that you just have a touch of a bug. Hopefully you improve swiftly today.
Babies are buggers as well, possible that they are pushing on a nerve and that's why one point was so sore.
Feel better soon.

Wineandchoccy · 19/10/2018 07:33

@melissa112 you poor thing that sounds rough hope you feel better soon

Bluebelltulip · 19/10/2018 07:59

Hope you are feeling better soon @melissa112

melissa112 · 19/10/2018 07:59

Thank you all. Feel just as grim today, pains are still weird but my boss has been lovely and told me not to log on and to go back to bed and rest so that is what I shall do. I hate being off work sick and always feel so anxious about it but I know i need to look after myself.

@Miami81 they didn't check my appendix. They didn't do a scan. If I feel worse today I'll phone the docs, they're usually quite good at getting you in the same day if needed.

Thanks all, and hope everyone is ok

Kee80 · 19/10/2018 08:19

@melissa112 hope your feeling better soon.
I was at the epu Tuesday due to pains and cramps. They did same for me checked urine, cervix and listened to heartbeat. I was also told just growing/stretching pains. I'm still getting the odd little stabbing pain just above pubic bone

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 19/10/2018 08:27

In regards to side sleeping. I always go to bed before my OH and fall asleep on my left side but by the time He comes up to bed, I'm getting woke up and told I'm sleeping on my back! Must tell him it only matters in the third trimester.
I've been told by the midwife that I'm anaemic which explains the headaches, tiredness and just feeling a bit shit. She said I need to take iron supplements immediately but boots won't sell me anything due to being pregnant. I think that's absolutely ridiculous! So I'm having to wait for my GP to give me a prescription.
