Ooops! That was meant to be Grin

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 14/10/2018 09:06

@PurpleFlower1983 that's so lovely. How many weeks are you? I can't wait til I can feel LO.

Nightmanagerfan · 14/10/2018 09:08

@Elizabeth134 how far along are you? I went to a wedding at 11.5 weeks and it was horrendous so I’m impressed! I’m 16+4 now and can stay up til 11 again now which feels amazing doesn’t it.

Welcome @miami81 so sorry to hear about all the complications you’ve had and of your loss last time - I can understand why you’re so stressed and anxious. We had a tfmr due to Fetal abnormality found at the 12 week scan earlier this year, so we were very anxious up until the scan this time. Even when they told us it was all looking fine we struggled to accept it/take it in. I think it’s so normal to be worried when you’ve had an experience like that. Do you have a supportive group of friends/family? Look forward to having you on the thread.

I’m on holiday on a Greek island this week which is lovely. I’m still sleeping a lot (had a good 11 hours last night) but it’s so nice to be away. It’s beautiful here and very easy to eat healthily as the salads/fruit are so delicious and cheap. On the down side I think I’m getting sciatica - I’ve got a pain in my right buttock. I’ve had it before and recognise the feeling. Anyone else had this in pregnancy? Google seems to suggest its common post-30 weeks, not this early!

ladycarlotta · 14/10/2018 09:10

@PurpleFlower1983 mine was definitely doing some serious acrobatics this morning - that or it's got notably heftier - the biggest most sustained movement I've had so far. It's such a great feeling isn't it?!

Wineandchoccy · 14/10/2018 09:13

Welcome @Miami81 and I’m sorry to hear about your daughter. Glad you can join us and it sounds like you are being well looked after this time which is reassuring.

Thanks @Elizabeth134 I’m trying to relax, hopefully the blood test results will come back negative and I can enjoy the rest of the pregnancy.

@PurpleFlower1983 Have you noticed a pattern of the kicking? 4am seems a favourite time for mine to practice its break dancing skills Grin

21 weeks today over half way there Grin

ladycarlotta · 14/10/2018 09:15

Hi @Miami81 and welcome! A million congratulations on your rainbow baby - there are a few in this group so you certainly aren't alone. Dive on in, we're glad to have you x

MistakenHoliday · 14/10/2018 09:16

@MyMumDimensionJumps I've only just caught up with this thread and seen your message! Yes, like the ones in Finland! My had a mattress and fitted sheet and some newborn nappies and wipes in. It's really sturdy and much bigger than i thought it would be. I'm in Leeds and I think they're trialling them in the area. You just have to watch a few videos, answer a quiz and then you get a code to pick it up from your local Sure Start centre Smile

BadBadBeans · 14/10/2018 09:18

There is a lot I want to reply to here but I am rushed so will just do this bit for now -

@Nightmanagerfan I had a pain at the top of my right buttock and it wasn't sciatica, it was my SI joint having locked out of place. Apparently fairly common in pregnancy. Half an hour with the physio sorted it out and she had given me exercises to do. Although if you have already had sciatica then maybe you are sure it is that?

Nightmanagerfan · 14/10/2018 09:24

@badbadbeans that’s interesting - I last had sciatica about eight years ago so I can’t be convinced I’m remembering it correctly. I’ll see if it continues and maybe see a physio, good tip. I’m so aware of needing to look after my body during pregnancy but it’s easier said than done!

MistakenHoliday · 14/10/2018 09:46

I've missed so much on this board!

Had my 20 week scan on Friday - another girl! DD is overjoyed to have a little sister - let's see how she feels when the baby is earthside οΏΌ

@Spud2019 I've been told i have placenta praevia too. Consultant appointment booked in to ask any questions and an extra scan at 32 weeks. Even though I should have, I did some googling and most of the stuff is actually positive - the majority of people saying the placenta moved up (as it does anyway) and they were able to have a vaginas birth. FH and I are of the mind that we can do nothing about it so there's no point worrying.

@Wineandchoccy big hugs for ypu and your good news! And that is a gorgeous scan picture ❀️

@melissa112 did you get to speak to your midwife? I hope you're feeling better and know you're not to blame. @wordsmithereens such a helpful list of resources, thank you!

@Murphyrocks so sad to see you go DD buddy - any chance you'll come back now that nonsense has stopped? X

Wineandchoccy · 14/10/2018 09:50

@MistakenHoliday and @Spud2019 I also have placenta Pravia but with everything that had been going on I have pushed that bit of information to the back of my mind and hope it moves up.

Wineandchoccy · 14/10/2018 09:51

@MistakenHoliday congratulations on your 2nd dd, how old is your dd?

MistakenHoliday · 14/10/2018 09:58

@Wineandchoccy thank you! First DD is four next month so quite a gap! We didn't think this second one would ever materialise so we're very happy Smile

Absolutely no point worrying about the placenta thing, I reckon, and the odds are really good that it'll move up apparently (only 1 in 10 stay low).

Wineandchoccy · 14/10/2018 10:30

I think that’s a lovely age gap old enough to help you as well, my dd will be 4 in April she loves babies although she may change her mind when one is screaming in the house Grin

Murphyrocks · 14/10/2018 10:43

@MistakenHoliday yes I'm still lurking here! Congrats on your 2nd dd. I'm 20 weeks today and have my scan tomorrow morning - fully expecting to be told I'm having another boy! Also got consultant appointment to go through additional care plan due to ds's stroke in utero so just hope that all goes OK and it won't impact birth plan too much.

Welcome to the newcomers too!

PurpleFlower1983 · 14/10/2018 10:44

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I’m 20+2 today, it’s only in the last week that I have felt definitely kicks and they were quite sporadic until the last couple of days.

@wineandchoccy I’ve not noticed a pattern as such but I definitely feel them more lying down or sitting but leaning forward. As I was getting out of the bath yesterday I think I felt her turn over. It was weird!

Wineandchoccy · 14/10/2018 10:50

Lovely to have you back on the thread @Murphyrocks

MistakenHoliday · 14/10/2018 10:53

@Murphyrocks yay! Good luck with your scan! DH was was convinced that baby was a boy on Friday - turns out it was the umbilical cord πŸ˜‚

@Wineandchoccy you're right, the novelty will wear off as soon as the crying and pooing starts! X

Murphyrocks · 14/10/2018 11:01

Thanks @Wineandchoccy and @MistakenHoliday! It would be lovely if it was just the umbilical cord as we have 2 boys already and this will be our last so a girl would be wonderful, but as long as everything is OK I'm not that worried.

wordsmithereens · 14/10/2018 12:52

@Miami81 Welcome to the thread, and congratulations on your rainbow. Glad they are taking good care of you by the sounds of it.

@Elizabeth134 Sorry you have tricky parental issues as well. Sounds totally sensible to keep the news to yourself for the time being - you will know best when/if the time is right. Trust your instincts.

@Nightmanagerfan, I used to have quite bad sciatica, until a massage therapist revealed that my butt muscles are too tight, which contributes! There's a couple of good stretches that help (google piriformis syndrome), though I think as bump grows I may need to adapt/rethink them. Enjoy your holiday, it sounds beautiful and relaxing.

@PurpleFlower1983 Lovely, isn't it, when they get more active? I think mine has ambitions of becoming a boxer at the moment! Grin

Nightmanagerfan · 14/10/2018 13:24

@wordsmithereens good tip on the stretching - DH was Googling buttock stretches for me last night Grin

@murphyrocks welcome back! So glad common sense has prevailed

BadBadBeans · 14/10/2018 14:48

@Nightmanagerfan the exercise I was given by the physio was to lie down on my back and then pull my right knee into my chest with my left hand, then pull it towards my left shoulder blade, so across my chest. It stretches the bum / top of the leg in the offending area!

@Miami81 I'm so sorry to hear of your loss last year and I hope that the regular scans will help you be reassured enough to enjoy this pregnancy a little.

I have just done myself in running across a city centre to catch a train. The traffic was standstill and I wasn't going to make it so I had to leap out of my friend's car with a couple of (not too heavy) bags and RUN. Which actually meant a sort of hobbling fast skipping walk as the short bursts of running made me feel like I might die. Made the train but am now feeling guilty about running in case it was bad for the bairn. I am really going to push for a heartbeat listen at my midwife appointment on Monday- I'll be nearly 18 weeks then so I hope she will do it. I feel half worried all the time at the moment that something has gone wrong.

cardboard33 · 14/10/2018 15:30

Haha @badbadbeans I also just had a 15 min dash through the streets of West London to catch a plane!! The traffic was so bad and there was no way I was going to get to the tube station on the bus as the damn tube was running with delays so only every 15 mins so decided running would be quicker. Also made my plane, although now sat on the runway for 1hr plus due to air traffic control restrictions. Going anywhere special? I'm just on a work trip.

Have been reading everyone's previous birth stories with interest. You've all got such differently interesting tales to tell!!

BadBadBeans · 14/10/2018 15:55

@cardboard33 haha I'm glad it's not just me! Mine was only a twelve minute dash at least! Glad you made the plane. Sorry it is now delayed though! I was sitting in the passenger seat swearing like a navvy and then just decided I had to leap out as it was my best shot! I would definitely have missed it if I hadn't. I had actually been on a child- and husband-free jolly with a mate - we went to the Harry Potter studio tour yesterday, stayed in a hotel overnight and had a nice lunch out today. Very luxurious. Thought I had better get a couple of such trips in while I can as I remember how hard it was to get any time to myself while breastfeeding!

Yes I love people's birth stories too. We had NCT 'grads' visit our class just before we were due to give theirs. I am forever grateful to the woman who shared how much she wanted a candle lit water birth but ended up with an emergency section. I think there is a lot of pressure on women to give birth as naturally as possible and it is easy to feel like a failure if that isn't how it works out for you. I definitely had feelings of disappointment and failure about my c-section for about 6 months following the birth, but I have got my head round it now and it doesn't bother me at all any more. I felt like I wanted to prove something about myself by doing it all naturally, but that was all about my ego and actually the birth was all about getting my little boy into the world in the safest way possible. (Though he did require stitches, poor love, as he got a bit nicked by the scalpel during the section - I think that is pretty uncommon!!!!) This time round I am totally embracing the likelihood of a second c-section. I have let go of all my personal preoccupations about how a birth should be. It feels very freeing!

orangekitkat13 · 14/10/2018 16:54

@Miami81 welcome to the group, so sorry to here about your previous pregnancy. Glad they are monitoring you closely this time.

@Wineandchoccy glad to here it is positive news.

@PurpleFlower1983 Mine has been giving pretty strong kicks for a little while now. DH can't feel it yet though which he is finding frustrating!

@Nightmanagerfan I've been having sciatica in my bum cheek for weeks, so you are not alone! If you have a tennis ball lying around roll that around on the area, even better if you can roll it between yourself and a wall. It really helps.

I had my 20 week scan this week, all fine and we are having a boy! Super excited! The baby is very low down, leaning on my bladder which explains why I still have to pee all the time!

I'm struggling with sleeping too. Partly because I have to get up to pee a lot but also cause I'm struggling with getting comfortable. I have a massive pregnancy pillows which helps a little but still lots of aches and pains. I'm thinking of booking myself a massage to see if that helps. God only knows what it'll be like at 40weeks!
