@gronk27 great news re your mat allowance! Every little helps. I feel frumpy too - going on holiday tomorrow and feel like I have nothing to wear. Mat clothes are good but some are still too big. I’m planning a pedicure and maybe facial on holiday to help me feel better, is there something you could do? Nice jewellery sometimes helps.

In a new low for pregnancy symptoms I’ve developed What I think is either heat/sweat rash or just bad chafing on my inner thighs - sorry if tmi but I think it’s caused from wearing jeans and the amount of damp eminating in the form of discharge! Awful. Now the skin is red raw and hot. I’ve never had this before so dread to think what else is on the horizon!

HidCat · 12/10/2018 04:40

I'm planning on working right to my due date / birth, whichever comes first. Last time I left work at 5pm and went into labour at midnight. It's actually what I wanted as I maximised my time with baby whilst off.

@Wineandchoccy good luck today.

Going to head back to bed after a long night of insomnia. I hope this doesn't last long πŸ’€

melissa112 · 12/10/2018 06:13

@Wineandchoccy good luck for the scan today. Will be thinking of you x

PurpleFlower1983 · 12/10/2018 06:15

@Wineandchoccy

Good luck this morning. I’ll be thinking about you xxx

Wineandchoccy · 12/10/2018 07:02

Thanks everyone x

Good job I had a bath and washed my hair last night woke up to a power cut typical I could murder a cup of tea and why can you never find a torch when you need one.

Kee80 · 12/10/2018 07:18

Good luck @Wineandchoccy I'm sure everything will be fine xx

HelloPeopl3 · 12/10/2018 07:25

@angelmiracle @melissa112

Thank you for the reasurrance. I will be totally fine come next Friday once I can get my scan done. X

HelloPeopl3 · 12/10/2018 07:29

@assumeitwassomethingclever

Yes that's exactly what I'm like. I go to my scan expecting the worst. It's not a nice feeling.
At least were nearly halfway there!

Has anyone got any recommendations for travel systems/prams/ etc x

Nightmanagerfan · 12/10/2018 07:29

@wineandchoccy thinking of you today and hope you can get a tea at the hospital. Brew

Velcro88 · 12/10/2018 07:51

@Wineandchoccy just to say wishing you all the best today, so glad you don't have long to wait this morning. Hope you can rustle up a cuppa somewhere too!

MsLioness · 12/10/2018 08:27

@Wineandchoccy thinking of you today, hope it goes well.

@angelmiracle glad your boss was so supportive, doesn't it make such a difference when somebody gets it!

Not sure what to do about mat leave, last time I worked till 38 weeks and had a week off before he arrived but didn't do full weeks towards the end which helped with the tiredness. I'm torn between finishing late again and maximising the time off once baby is here compared to giving myself a bit longer to relax and maybe have some special time with my son before the new arrival. I think I'll feel guilty either way, I worry it will be hard on Leo who will be 2y4m so should have some one to one time with him, but I'll feel bad if I don't get so much time with number 2 as I did with my son.

Jenfur · 12/10/2018 08:27

@Wineandchoccy best of luck for today, we're thinking of you

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 12/10/2018 08:54

@HelloPeopl3 It's so weird to think we're almost halfway!!

I'm completely torn when it comes to maternity leave. I work in an office so it's not manual at all but I work 10 hour days so by the time I get home there's no time to do anything apart from eat and sleep! I want to work up to 36 weeks but I don't want to risk the baby coming early and not having everything prepared. Also, I'm not sure if I'll find sitting in one spot for 10 hours a day a struggle once I'm massive.

TheWanderlust · 12/10/2018 09:12

Hats off to all you ladies who commute on the tubes/ train every day. Ventured into London yesterday and the tube was rather traumatic. 🀒 made my 20 mile drive round the m25 seem like bliss!

I'm hoping to work right up to due date if possible. My new team seem to be really flexible so hoping I can increase my work from home days towards the end and only travel around county for meetings🀞🏼

frenchgal · 12/10/2018 09:13

@Wineandchoccy just landed but wanted to find some WiFi to say I am thinking of you

LittleKitty1985 · 12/10/2018 09:28

20 weeks today! GrinCake

ladycarlotta · 12/10/2018 09:43

woohoo @littlekitty1985! that's a halfway-done bump! Looking good! I turn 20 weeks tomorrow and my God the time has just flown. HOW has it happened?

PurpleFlower1983 · 12/10/2018 10:08

Just has my 20 week scan and all looks well. Smile

babycatcher411 · 12/10/2018 11:55

I’m going off at 36weeks. Officially I’m going till 39/40 but got 3 weeks A/L so not taking it till due date. Might kill me between now and then though!

ballanj · 12/10/2018 12:35

Thinking of you @Wineandchoccy xx

ballanj · 12/10/2018 12:57

Hi everyone else today.

@melissa112 @HelloPeopl3 I'm 18 + 1 and I'm still not feeling something I can definitely pinpoint as baby movement. Until I get to 24 weeks I won't give it too much thought. But I'm also impatient and want to feel Hulk!

For maternity leave and starting, I'm planning on my due date (14 March) being my official start date but will take some annual leave before that so I plan to have my last day in the office as either 28 Feb or 1 March. That is of
course I'm not so knackered I can barely move. I commute into London from Surrey so if that gets too much I'll reassess.

For those saying they feel frumpy, I felt like that recently. Went out for dinner last night and was the first time I felt anywhere near non-frumpy for weeks! Probably helped that darling other half commented on how nice I looked!

TheWanderlust · 12/10/2018 13:19

@ballanj I salute you for your commute! I don't know how you do it!!

I've got a wedding to go to next week ... just started the "I've got nothing to wear" meltdown πŸ˜…

Hope all went well this morning @Wineandchoccy

BadBadBeans · 12/10/2018 13:42

@Wineandchoccy I've been thinking of you today, and hope you had reassuring news this morning.

@Gronk27 Regarding the MA, yes, if you're self-employed and you have paid your NI contributions for at least 13 weeks in a certain time period then you automatically get the full allowance. If you're employed but aren't entitled to statutory pay, then you either get the full allowance or 90% of your average weekly earnings, whichever is lower. The lady on the phone said I would be able to submit my form from the 9th December so there's no immediate rush - yes, I guess you have to wait for your MatB1 first.

Regarding the needles - I am so there with you. I have never known anyone in real life as bad as me around needles and blood, but truly truly honestly I am a lot better since going through a pregnancy and a birth. Exposure therapy! I hope the same happens to you.

@LittleKitty1985 that's a real live bump right there! How exciting!

HappyOtter · 12/10/2018 13:49

Hi I'm new to this thread and Mumsnet, due 29 March 2019. I'm currently 15 weeks and stuck in bed with a horrible cold drinking lots of honey and lemon. Hoping it will go by the weekend as planning to tell my in-laws. Looking forward to sharing this exciting pregnancy journey with you all 😊

Gronk27 · 12/10/2018 13:56

@badbadbeans But don't you just pay your NI when you do your tax return? Using you as my personal adviser haha! And yes I suppose you can get used to anything! It's more the thought of it than anything else. I can't look at them. I like it when they're sprung on me rather than me having to book it!
