@Gronk27 like @Nightmanagerfan says some areas are trialling a new blood test to check the babies blood if you are rhesus negative. Just my luck though mine has come back saying baby is positive so no escaping the anti d although trust me after you have just squeezed a baby out an injection is nothing.

Wineandchoccy · 10/10/2018 15:52

@Jenlou1992 that does sound disappointing but also sounds fairly normal I found last time some midwifes were very thorough and others did what they had to do and sent you on your way. With regards to weighing I only got weighed once last time at booking in appt and so far that has been the same this time.

Gronk27 · 10/10/2018 15:59

@wineandchoccy @nightmanagerfan no mention of that here and I think I have to go in December for an injection? Or extra bloods? Either way more needles haha! I'm sure I won't give Β£$%^ after birth as you say!

Wineandchoccy · 10/10/2018 16:04

Yes I have 1 injection in December and then will have to have another once I have given birth. They woke me at 4am last time for that I was thrilled Angry

Gronk27 · 10/10/2018 16:10

@wineandchoccy Oh joy!

Jenfur · 10/10/2018 16:14

I have my 16 week appointment tomorrow morning as well but I'll be 16+5 so feeling a bit lucky now that I got it at the right week rather than having to wait like others have.
I can't remember what we did discuss at 16 weeks from my last pregnancy but they definitely didn't tell us about antenatal classes at that appointment. It was the next appointment, I would say (24 weeks? maybe) and when I called to book, all the nearest classes were completely booked up. We ended up having the classes at about 32 weeks pregnant (I think) and yet I was due last, one lady was 39 weeks. So if you want classes, in my experience maybe ask midwife as soon as possible to get yourself a place!

LittleKitty1985 · 10/10/2018 17:54

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I've had the dizziness / light-headedness today, it's really unusual for me as my blood pressure is usually on the high side

Gronk27 · 10/10/2018 18:00

My period app which has become a pregnancy app states that this week or so 17/18 weeks being light headed is common.

Kee80 · 10/10/2018 18:04

Afternoon all. I've missed so much on this thread, lots to catch up on!

Hope everyone is doing ok sorry to hear some of your are worrying and anxious about things!

I'm 17+1 felt a little dizzy and lightheaded today for the first time. I've also felt really achey uterus and a few cramps and sharp pains these last couple of days. Worried me a little. Is anyone else feeling like this?

ballanj · 10/10/2018 18:22

Hello @Kee80 πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

I'm 18 weeks tomorrow and have been having lots of stretching/pulling and stabbing pains around bump and groin area. I haven't felt something I can definitely pinpoint to being the baby moving so I'm linking all of those feelings to baby growing and moving around! Pregnancy is a minefield! I'd say what you're experiencing is totally normal.

When did other people feel definite movement! I'm growing more impatient by the day and I think Hulk knows it and is keeping me on my toes!

Kee80 · 10/10/2018 18:26

Thanks @ballanj that's really reassuring. After 2 miscarriages I worry over anything!
I'm sure I felt baby for the first time last night, I felt a little prod and a roll type of feeling.

I remember with my son I didn't feel anything till around 20-22 weeks

Gronk27 · 10/10/2018 18:32

@kee80
Loads of cramps and sharp pains too.

ballanj · 10/10/2018 18:41

@Gronk27 if it makes you feel any better I've got to have the anti-D injection aswell. Got my flu and whooping cough on 25th. Didn't think pregnancy requires so much stabbing! I don't mind needles I'm just not a fan of having a dead arm. Last time I went for travel jabs could barely move my bloody arms'

Gronk27 · 10/10/2018 18:48

@ballanj I couldn't book in for whooping cough and flu as I'm away a lot in October so have to wait until they open up Nov. Wish they just sprang them on me rather than me planning them lol!

cardboard33 · 10/10/2018 18:53

Evening all... Interesting discussions recently. My husband and I are scientists so you can probably read into where our opinions lie and I will leave it there.

I think I might be starting to feel the baby move...or maybe it's just air.. really not sure but who is unless they've felt it before?! Feels like a little worm is inside me wriggling around but I can only feel it sometimes, like this evening when coming home on the train. My 16 week appointment is on Friday but I'll be 17 weeks by then as the consultant only does the "special people" clinic every other week. Odd question but is anyone else really really itchy? Particularly under their feet??

Angelmiracle · 10/10/2018 19:00

@Kee80 I'm actually glad you mentioned that. I've been running about today and after not having headaches in a week one has started this evening plus cramps and sharp pains at my uterus when I move to quickly. Must be normal. I had none of this with DS that pregnancy was a breeze in hindsight!

My 16 week appointment is on Monday at 16+3 I will definitely be asking her to check heartbeat, ask about jabs as clinic didn't have them in last week and for blood results which you ladies just reminded me about. I wonder if iron is low already. I might start on Floradix soon any way. Not feeling baby nowhere near as noticeable as last week - I was being properly poked lol.

Kee80 · 10/10/2018 19:21

@Angelmiracle I was the same with my son. No problems at all the pregnancy was amazing.
I ache and get cramps and pains mostly when I'm at work when I've been on my feet a couple of hours. I'm fine at home when not doing much!
If we're like this now god help us in the 3rd trimester haha

user1489659822 · 10/10/2018 19:29

first baby due 20th march here, it's a little boy, feeling awfully rough and hating pregnancy so far lol! x

Angelmiracle · 10/10/2018 19:39

Welcome @user1489659822 and congratulations you're having a boy! I'm so sorry to hear you're not feeling great. Everytime I turn a corner another symptom creeps up! Hope it eases for you soon.

Welcome @user1489659822 it's really refreshing to hear someone say they're not enjoying pregnancy y'know! I think everyone expects you to be in this bubble of bliss when the reality is that most of the time (for myself anyway) I simply feel fat and shattered and that my body has been taken over πŸ˜‚

Angelmiracle · 10/10/2018 19:54

I had my appointment with Occupational Health today. The assessor was nice but rather blunt at the same time. I told her that after being signed off with vertigo I fell pregnant and also stopped antidepressants. She basically just said there's no medical reason why you can't go back to work. And also no reason to recommend phased return. I had to jump in and said yes CURRENTLY I feel well now that I'm in the 2nd trimester. But I also reminded her that I struggle with anxiety and having come off anti depressants completely I don't to go back on them due to diving straight back into work full time. She then agreed that was ok she would recommend phased return Confused It kinda felt like she was challenging me as in had I have sat back and just accepted all she was saying I would have been straight back to work full time next week.

She was nice in that she asked if I wanted the pregnancy mentioned in her report. I said I would prefer if she didn't as I would like to talk to my line manager in person and let him know. She also asked should she include the anxiety/depression and I felt maybe it's better to have that in in case anxiety becomes an issue further into the pregnancy. Now I just need to have a conversation with my line manager! No wonder I've a headache.

Glad you could stand your ground @Angelmiracle. I roll over way too easily, it's one of my anxiety issues for sure.

I am hating this pregnancy - it is nothing like the first time. Guess it proves that every pregnancy is different. I am still being sick, I am aching like I have run a marathon and have so little energy it means at snap at DS way more than I would ever intend on doing so. Oh and the pressure of the PAPP-A issue and everything that entails is just making it an unpleasant journey.

Glad lots are feeling better in the second trimester though. I truly wouldn't wish this on anyone!

LittleKitty1985 · 10/10/2018 20:39

@cardboard33 I've been really itchy lately too, especially the soles of my feet, although I used to get that pre-pregnancy tbh

ladycarlotta · 10/10/2018 21:04

@angelmiracle so glad you stuck up for yourself. When I was much younger I had an OH meeting after I'd suffered a miscarriage and really wasn't coping with my mental health. She kept saying, 'but you're OK now aren't you?' and I didn't know how to stress that I wasn't - I felt very pressured to be compliant. Perhaps they do this as some sort of test? It's really good you were able to advocate for yourself.

@SquirtlesMumAgain you poor bugger. I'm so sorry it's still crap for you.

MsLioness · 10/10/2018 21:08

Sorry just catching up, I'm always reading in snatches waiting for the train, starting comments then the conversation has moved on, will try and be better!

@angelmiracle glad that you were able to be assertive and get some flexibility from OH, a phased return sounds like a great step. Good luck with talking to your manager.

@user1489659822 @ballanj @SquirtlesMumAgain and others who aren't enjoying the pregnancy, I feel this too. I have no causes for complaint really, I've been very lucky with no morning sickness at all I'm just tired and uncomfortable at only 16 weeks in a way I don't remember being last time. It just feels like a looooooong time to be pregnant and I know this is the easy bit!

Thanks also to the person probably half a thread back who recommended ebay for maternity clothes... I've just put on so many bids I've reached a temporary buying limit stopping me from more! Still probably better than shopping the seraphine sale which is too tempting...
