@Wames90 aw thank you! You've made my day 😁 disclaimer this was first thing in the morning, right now I have a major pot belly 😂

@Yakadee i elected for a CS with my daughter (1st pregnancy) as I've always had a fear of tearing and my mum has a horrendous birth with me so that was always on my mind. I went to see the consultant and she basically said they wouldn't force me to have a natural birth and it's my decision. I've elected again this time and saw my consultant last week, she was lovely and basically just signed me off quickly as I've been through it once before and know the risks etc. It's your body and you should be able to decide how you want your birth experience to go. X

Wames90 · 30/09/2018 18:59

@IndiX if my tummy looked like that in the morning pre pregnancy I would have been very happy let alone at 20+ weeks! 😂. Please can you be my motivation post birth to tone back up again!!

Since2016 · 30/09/2018 19:10

@yakadee I am. Although be warned - although it’s unlikely given your previous birth they can refuse. They have to refer you to someone else / another trust who would consider it though. Nice guidelines are exactly that - guidelines. No one HAS to adhere to them.

That said I’m sure it’ll be fine as you have concrete and valid reasons! My cons appt is also not till 32 weeks - mid dec. I’m not worrried though - I checked with the MW and she said they’ll talk me through the pros and cons but ultimately after my experience last time they would give me the choice. So feeling more confident. (Failed inductions, baby in distress, didn’t progress at all and emergency section followed by baby in NICU).

If you’re worried maybe seek some reassurance from the MW?

Since2016 · 30/09/2018 19:13

@notquiteagandt totally normal. I was the same with DD and same this time. You are just starting to prioritise baby - totally normal! And maternity leave is anxious - no money coming in for part of it etc... but do spend some on yourself or get your nails done etc... make you feel a bit more like you. After your horrific pregnancy 1st trimester you deserve it! Good luck for tomorrow!

Yakadee · 30/09/2018 19:28

@IndiX - thanks 😊

@Since2016 - I know what you're saying, I've been told I'll have to put up a fight however like you say, I most definitely have valid reason and I've done my research so know the risks. I honestly can't imagine it being worse than the first time although under no illusion that it's the 'easy option'.

I'm not worried as such, just wish it wasn't so far from now. I'd much rather have this conversation and know where I stand x

Since2016 · 30/09/2018 19:50

Oh I’m sorry you’ve been told you’ll have to fight for it - no wonder you’re anxious. It’s not an ‘easy option’ but imo for me anyway, It’s the only way. Im not willing to risk a repeat of last time. I really hope you don’t have to fight for it - that would make me feel v anxious too x

Since2016 · 30/09/2018 19:51

Ps. @yakadee I would also know now in terms of final sign off etc but hoping the coming weeks fly by. Already in Oct! Eek!

Notquiteagandt · 30/09/2018 19:52

@Since2016 Thanks for the reassurance. I always knew id prioritise baby I just didnt exspect to feel guilt. Strangest thing.

Maternal instinct is a funny thing hey.

Since2016 · 30/09/2018 19:56

@notquiteagandt it totally is! Wait till babe arrives... plus with maternity clothes it almost feels wasteful as it’s for such a short period of time!

Yakadee · 30/09/2018 20:15

Thanks @Since2016 - I agree I shouldn't have to fight for it, it's not just one person either (one was a nurse!) x

twiglet · 30/09/2018 20:18

@indix I found out that I'm in the low lying club and like you googled then regretted it!
But it shifts in 90% of cases it takes a while to get your head around but it's manageable.
It's good that you've already elected a C section, I wanted a water birth due to pelvic girdle pain which was already going to be a bit of a struggle due to local hospital having one but I'd I don't shift then that's out of the window!

Lulabell1 · 30/09/2018 20:21

Hi ladies catching up as I have worked a 60 hour week this week today i done 10hour shift it should be illegal on a sundayHmm for those saying 28weeks i have to have midwife appointment every 4 weeks now due to suffering with very bad anxiety, OCD and then postnatal depression after DD so its more of a mental health checkup than baby.

Al your bumps are so lovely and different in every way i feel so big and the acid has now started need to stock up on gaviscon!!! Just a quick question can you use heat pads in pregnancy? My back is in bits!!!

welshweasel · 30/09/2018 20:51

Yes heat pads are fine.

Camsie30 · 30/09/2018 22:05

Has anyone else tried to paint their toenails recently?! Doing mine now and my bump is already in the way! 🤣💅🏼

KeepingTheFaith9 · 30/09/2018 22:39

Here you go ladies.. I’m 21 weeks today.. 🙏🏻 Totally massive compared to how I was with my daughter! X

KeepingTheFaith9 · 30/09/2018 22:40

I had a low placenta with my daughter -I think they are quite common and in most cases they shift by 32 weeks and if they don’t they you have to have a CS. X

maxiflump1 · 01/10/2018 07:06

@indi and @KeepingTheFaith9 you both look fabulous! How are you so toned especially after already having a child?!?! I looked about 4 months pregnant before I was even pregnant this time! Grin

IndiX · 01/10/2018 07:29

@KeepingTheFaith9 what a perfect bump! You look amazing. Yes I've heard they sometimes move, becuase I've had a CS before apparently they are less likely to move later on but I have elected for another CS anyway.
I'm just more confused what I can and can't do..some people say they stop having sex? I haven't been told anything.

clairehr · 01/10/2018 07:35

Is anyone else suffering with nasal congestion at night? At first I thought it was just a cold, but it's been 2.5 weeks and I'm fine in the day 😔 going to the pharmacy today to see if there's anything I can use to help!

Fredthespider · 01/10/2018 08:14

Good luck today to @Notquiteagandt and anyone else with scans 😊

@clairehr I thought it was just me! I’ve always suffered with rhinitis and take an antihistamine at night but recently that hasn’t been helping so I’m not getting the best sleep and waking up with a blocked nose. Hopefully it goes soon.

Since2016 · 01/10/2018 08:36

Finally got round to a picture. Poor baby #2 I took one ever week with DD! 20+3

Due Feb 2019 - we’re halfway!
AliceRR · 01/10/2018 08:44

@clairehr @clairethespiser Yes I have that too. Either blocked up or sneezing or runny nose but particularly in the night and in the morning.

I’m the kind of person who takes actifed and the like whenever I have a runny nose that won’t go with an antihistamine as I hate having to wipe my nose constantly(!). Obviously haven’t taken anything during pregnancy other than using Olbas Oil bath products at night which do clear the sinuses a bit.

Let me know if you find anything good!

I’ve heard those nasal salt sprays are good but have not tried them...

AliceRR · 01/10/2018 08:45

That last one was supposed to be @fredthespider! 🙈

AliceRR · 01/10/2018 08:51

I’m at the go surgery for flu and WC vaccines and the flu vaccine hasn’t arrived yet! It’s annoying as I’m off work today and deliberately booked them both together plus could have had it at work today (my employer offers the flu vaccine to all employees and today is the day they’re doing it too). I’ve provisionally booked in for Thursday afternoon (as I’m working from home that day anyway) but wanted it ASAP really plus they can’t guarantee it will be here before Friday 🤔

twiglet · 01/10/2018 09:00

@Alicerr yep my GPs is the same no vaccination yet.... They keep saying to me to call back each week (3 wks now). My work hasn't set dates for ours yet but at this rate they will be quicker than the GP!
