Morning! Been lurking on here a while and decided to join in now I’ve had the 20 week scan. So... am due Boy #2 on 5th Feb. All going well so far. Was v nervous about the scan as I had some stressful news at that scan last time (which turned out to be nothing but made me anxious through the second half of my last pregnancy). So feels like a big milestone to have got through that.

Feeling lots of movement despite anterior placenta and definitely got a big bump now. We told our little boy this weekend (he’s 3 in Nov). How have other parents been talking about it with little ones? We explained that the baby wasn’t coming until after Xmas and he seemed very excited. We also read the “House in my Mummy” book. But I think it’s still a long way off so he is going to get impatient!

bubblybrit · 30/09/2018 10:46

@FrowningFlamingo. Good luck with your scan tomorrow. I’m sure that everything will be great but you can’t help worrying eh? I’m already feeling a bit nervous and mine isn’t until Wednesday! X

emalady · 30/09/2018 10:57

Lovely bump pics everyone. I have more fat tummy than bump and still not feeling much movement despite being 21+5 it's number 1 so I know it's normal but seems like everyone else is seeming much more pregnant! I am really struggling with my back though. Lots of stiffness especially in the morning. Seen my physio (DH) who has suggested it's already time for a support belt😭. Hopefully it will help though.

Alicejj8x · 30/09/2018 11:03

Whopping cough and flu jab today :( argh wish me luck

Alicejj8x · 30/09/2018 11:03

@AmberRose17 congrats lovely and welcome :)

Yakadee · 30/09/2018 11:32

@Alicejj8x - had mine 2 weeks ago and no probs at all, sure you'll be fine. (You might have sore arms for a day or two though).

@AmberRose17 - welcome and congratulations!

We have told my son (2.5) and he has no clue lol. He knows what a baby is etc but just no idea. X

Alicejj8x · 30/09/2018 12:07

@Yakadee
Ahh I'm
Glad to hear it was all ok for you :) I usually am ok with anything like side effects wise after so I'm sure it'll be ok it's the thought of the injection lol but if I can have bloods I can do this lol x

powkin · 30/09/2018 12:24

Even though I’ve already had a CVS and nothing can be much worse than that I’m still awful with injections. I hate hate hate them. I’m much better with blood tests now as I had lots in a short period of time and there’s something less weird about something coming out than going in. I’ve never been able to get over the phobia of injections regardless of how many I’ve had! I avoided the whooping cough at the 16 week scan (you just go and see a nurse who is stationed there) so have just put it off to the 20 week. Urgh. The idea of having flu as well is just the worst! Nurses always say I do well but I hate it every time.

Fredthespider · 30/09/2018 12:41

22 weeks tomorrow and wondering when the rest of the bump will arrive 🤔 I even had to change into a skin tight top just so you could see it. Back into my jumper dress and just looking a little podgy.

Going pram window shopping with my mum and sister this afternoon. Then back with OH later this month to make a final decision.

Due Feb 2019 - we’re halfway!
NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/09/2018 12:48

Last night bump... 20+2. Last night was also a bit of a debut... so lots of surprised congratulations 😂

Due Feb 2019 - we’re halfway!
Yakadee · 30/09/2018 13:18

@Alicejj8x - it really wasn't bad. The whooping cough one is a little more painful than the other but it lasts a second. It'll be fine, don't worry x

IndiX · 30/09/2018 14:08

Hi ladies,
I've been a bit absent as I I've been really busy and struggling to keep up.
All your bumps look gorgeous! I'm not showing really, I have more of a 'food baby' bump rather than an actual bump. I'll upload a pic. I'm 20+1.
My 20 week scan went well last Thursday, baby is doing very well and is kicking lots. Only thing is they've found I have a low lying placenta. Didn't say much just to keep an eye out for any blessing and to come in straight away. After a bit of research I've realised it can be quite serious and especially as I'm a personal trainer and do quite high intensity exercise I've had to tone it down a bit. It's frustrated me more than anything as I was starting to feel a bit more normal and now I have to be cautious. Good news is I've elected for a CS anyway so either way delivery shouldn't be a problem.
Has anyone else been told they have a LLP or have had past pregnancies with one? I've not had much advice from midwives about what to do/not to do.

Anyway, sorry for rambling. Hope you're all feeling well and enjoying the second trimester as much as poss x

IndiX · 30/09/2018 14:10

Bump pic! Can't wait to actually have a nice round bump 🤰🏽

Alicejj8x · 30/09/2018 15:07

@Yakadee

Your totally right whopping cough one did hurt more than flu but nothing major. I didn't even realise the flu one had been done i didn't feel it one bit :) glad it's over now thou. Now on for the 20w scan Friday!!

Yakadee · 30/09/2018 15:33

@Alicejj8x - yay, glad it's all done! Not long until your scan, exciting! X

Alicejj8x · 30/09/2018 16:48

@Yakadee
Nope not long just the nerves start to kick in now xx

Yakadee · 30/09/2018 17:09

Been there! I'm sure this time next week your mind will be put at rest and you'll be planning the next chapter! Are you finding out? X

Wames90 · 30/09/2018 17:10

@indix how are you still so toned at 20+1?! You look amazing! I think I’ve got your share of baby in my belly too 😂😂.

I’ve got my whooping cough jab and flu jab on Tuesday and I’ve heard whooping cough is sore!

Yakadee · 30/09/2018 17:54

Random (and probably a bit early) but is anyone wanting to have a planned section? I had a natural birth with my first (lets just say it wasn't the best experience) and think that elcs is the way forward for this pregnancy / baby.

Anyone else? My appointment with the consultant isn't until end of Nov which feels like forever! Just wish I knew what they'll say etc (although I know I can't actually be refused) xx

maxiflump1 · 30/09/2018 18:02

@Yakadee I'm having a planned section after I had a third degree tear with DS. Saw the consultant at 16 weeks and she agreed straight away. Thought I would have more of a battle on my hands but there was no judgement at all. Feel so much more relaxed knowing I have some control this time as would never want to go through what I did the first time again. Hope things go as smoothly for you.

Yakadee · 30/09/2018 18:17

@maxiflump1 - thanks. I won't go into it much as don't want to worry anyone (I'm sure my experience wasn't the norm!) but yeah, bad episiotomy and a long recovery (again, leaving a rather large chunk out) so think it's defo the right move this time. I just wish I didn't have to wait so long, I'll be 32 weeks by then! X

AmberRose17 · 30/09/2018 18:21

@yakadee I’m also thinking I’d like to request a planned section. I had one with my first as he was breech and so have no concept of what it’s like to go into labour. The planned c section was a lovely experience and if I’m honest I find the idea of a VBAC is fairly terrifying. This time around I have a huge (8cm) cyst on my right ovary which they say they’d remove if I have a c section - and I have read that they can stop the baby engaging. Plus this baby is so far firmly breech too. So we will see! Trying to keep an open mind but I think I know what I want!

Yakadee · 30/09/2018 18:33

@AmberRose17 - I can imagine that's scary. Defo talk to your midwife, they can refer you to a consultant and I'm sure you wouldn't have to go through with anything you wouldn't want to.

My midwife was really sympathetic and referred me without hesitation. I just wish it was sooner so I knew what was going on. X

Notquiteagandt · 30/09/2018 18:37

Scan tomorrow and the nerves have kicked in. Thankfully its 1st thing so dont need to wait all day.

This is so silly and unreasonable and im not sure where it has come from. But im really struggling spending money on myself.

Went for lunch today with friends and whilst I loved seeing everyone. Was a big thing for me as due to being ill 1st social outing since june.

But I cant shake the guilt everytime I spent money on myself. Mentally im like this could be an outfit or a toy for baby.

I cant bring myself to buy maternity clothes or anything for myself. I can afford to so its not that. And I am the most spendy person ever. So im at a loss where this weird anxious guilt has come from.
