Ouch @powkin shingles can be really painful. Hope you only have a mild case.

cw96 · 12/10/2018 22:28

Hi everyone, I'm new to MN so just popping a comment on to follow the post (if that's the correct terminology) 23 weeks on Sunday!

AliceRR · 12/10/2018 22:44

The Asda coat looks good. Will look at new look and H&M as well as expect they should be reasonably priced

@powkin oh dear hope you have a quick recovery

mummakat84 · 12/10/2018 22:48

Hey Powkin, make sure your shingles is treated within 72 hours with anti virals. Don't know how pregnancy affects it bit my mil had it and we were lucky to catch it in time.

DeliberatelyGinger · 12/10/2018 22:59

For people with dry hands; Hemp hand cream by Body a Shop is amazing.nyou only needs a tiny bit and it protects your hands all day. My mum's a nurse and has yo use alcohol gel to was her hands all the time and she finds the hemp stuff really works. I've got everyone at work on it for hands and lips

powkin · 12/10/2018 23:13

@mummakat84 - I’m at my parents until Sunday annoyingly so have called 111 so a GP is going to call me back. They said within two hours but I wanted to be like “umm can you call me in the morning?!”

powkin · 12/10/2018 23:31

@cw96 welcome! I’m the one that’s always moaning about something 😂

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 13/10/2018 00:24

After saying my bump movements weren’t visible yet... I’ve been laying in the bath watching. It moves loads!! I just haven’t been paying attention!

Poor third baby 😂😂

DragonFlew · 13/10/2018 06:58

@camsie30 yes watch all the videos and then a quiz comes up at the end!

emalady · 13/10/2018 07:17

Box question for the English (sorry Scots but you get better boxes) if you are doing the quiz etc what are you using the box for? Is it going to be downstairs for naps or in the bedroom as well as a next to me /crib/moses basket? I started doing it then couldn't think what I was going to do with it other than having the cat steal it as a lovely place to hide!!

twiglet · 13/10/2018 07:34

Grin I am so happy first time in months I wasn't in the stupid o clock 2-5 wide awake club! Only woke up at 5.30 then managed another hour of sleep!

Its probably fluke and I will be back in it tonight but one night of good sleep is a massive relief.

DragonFlew · 13/10/2018 07:39

@emalady I'm going to have it downstairs for naps. I picked it up yesterday it's quite big! The video tells you how to use it

WonkyDonk87 · 13/10/2018 07:51

Late to the party but can I jump in? 24 weeks tomorrow, due 3.2.19.

FrowningFlamingo · 13/10/2018 07:52

I've been on holiday for a few days but caught up overnight while I couldn't sleep :(
The car seat stuff was interesting. I'm also a bit of a car seat geek and will stick strictly to the 30 minutes for the first few weeks as a former colleague sadly had an infant loss when the baby had been in the seat for a while and it was thought to be because if it. She tried to resuscitate her but wasn't able to. It was awful. She is understandably passionate about it now and I'd not dream of ignoring that advice. Totally accept that it's hugely coloured by that personal experience though!
I'm a bit torn between a lie flat one for that reason or a 'normal' one. Also have the option to borrow a good friends which would save money of course!

I'm off to a wedding tonight and stupidly offered to drive home my husband and his two friends. Would have been fine if I hadn't had next to no sleep Confused

Rowse · 13/10/2018 07:56

I also got my box yesterday. I think I'll use it downstairs for naps, as it was free I feel like it doesn't matter too much if it doesn't get used as I can always recycle the box. I don't have a cat though and I can imagine it probably would become a cosy cat box if I did!

It also came with a mattress, fitted sheet, pack of 24 lidl newborn nappies, wetwipes and a couple of samples.

I'm currently using it to store all the clothes and little bits we've bought for the baby to keep it all in one place.

DragonFlew · 13/10/2018 08:11

@rowse that's good! I got mattress and sheet but no samples or nappies! Just an instruction manual (haha!) And a timetable for the children centre x

Yakadee · 13/10/2018 08:24

@cw96 - congratulations and welcome xx

@WonkyDonk87 - Love the name! Also, we're due date buddies! Xx

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 13/10/2018 08:38

I did the quiz and a box is on its way apparently 🤗 you don’t actually need to watch the videos... I watched a few seconds of each one then onto the next. The quiz is just common sense so you shouldn’t need the videos to get the answers 👌🏼

Had my whooping cough and flu jab yesterday, one in each arm. Trying to sleep was not easy! Not being able to sleep in my back, and both sides feeling bruised did not make a good nights sleep.

Baby now kicking away so a snooze is out of the question, and I have my architect coming round shortly so I need to be up and alert. Not going to happen!! 😂

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 13/10/2018 08:39

I’ll use the box for downstairs naps, I have a cat, a Maine Coon so she is very hairy.. and I like the thought of being able to put a lid on the box when not in use to stop her climbing in!

DragonFlew · 13/10/2018 08:48

My box didn't even come with a lid! I even asked if it was meant to have one as the video said it did - and I thought it'd be a nice box for keepsakes afterwards!

Camsie30 · 13/10/2018 08:51

Thanks @DragonFlew, worked it out in the end! I'm thinking it will be good for downstairs... Mainly just intrigued by the concept....

Yakadee · 13/10/2018 09:05

Think I've missed a link for this box thing? Please could someone share? Xx

DragonFlew · 13/10/2018 09:15

@yakadee it's Babyboxuniversity.co.uk
Watch the videos and answer a quiz to get it!

lanalawr · 13/10/2018 09:20

The box only seems to be available in England. I was curious and thought it would be good for downstairs in the beginning but it doesn't seem to be available in Wales.
Are they delivered to your house or do you need to collect them? I could try putting MIL's address in but don't want her to have to do any work for it.

Surprisedmom · 13/10/2018 09:37

Is anyone else with cats planning on getting cat nets to cover cots/Moses baskets? I have a cat, but my parents also have two and we have a dog (border collie who fortunately never goes upstairs as he’s well trained) so I figure it’s going to be a battle keeping the cats off the baby beds if I don’t put cat nets over to stop them.
