Thanks @AliceRR.

That's good to know, I haven't been in pain at all and baby is wriggling away as usual xxx

lanalawr · 09/10/2018 15:07

@Lookingforadvice123 I have an anterior placenta too (also had one with dd). I'm noticing less movement than a few weeks ago and what I am feeling is more muted. Im guessing that the baby/placenta have moved so the placenta is blocking more now. I tend to feel more around bedtime too. With dd I barely felt anything at all from the inside. As I got bigger I knew she was moving because I could feel the outside of my belly hitting my desk at work!

fizzledays · 09/10/2018 15:38

I have one too @Lookingforadvice123 ! Mine also apparently v low so need scanning again at 34 weeks 😕

powkin · 09/10/2018 16:27

@lanalawr I’m the same, anterior and can feel less than a few weeks ago. Got a bit worried before the scan that it was all OK tbh. I feel really dull thuds and I guess they are the baby as they happen in all different places! I can sort of feel her squiggling around but it’s a strange sensation.

powkin · 09/10/2018 16:30

I’m sooooo tired today. I want to feel more energetic and awake like I was promised for the ruddy second trimester! Think I may have to nap which I never do. Almost had one just now but f-ing heartburn has struck again.

Celebelly · 09/10/2018 16:33

Ugh I've been having horrible heartburn for last week or so. Basically on a diet of Gaviscon and Rennies.

twiglet · 09/10/2018 17:22

Had my jabs this afternoon really wish my surgery reception would speak to the nurses!

Was asked the minute I went in did I want my flu jab at the same time...... I've been trying to book it like this for weeks only to be told until I get a letter then I can't have it........

emalady · 09/10/2018 17:34

@twiglet sounds about right for communication, at least you are sorted now!
@Celebelly my reflux is getting pretty bad too, feels like I've just stopped vomiting and now the next thing. I just wanted a week of "glowing" 😂.
Went looking at prams /travel systems today. Think we are going to go for a silver Cross pioneer. Bit posher than we were planning but it's lovely. Have other 1st timers already got this sorted. Just looking for reassurance I'm not getting too ahead of myself!!!

Since2016 · 09/10/2018 17:48

Have more movement than I did but v dull / subtle movements v unlike with DD! I don’t think it’s in a pattern till much later but tbh I can’t remember!

@emalady not a first timer but we have that pram and I adore it. It’s lovely to push, heavy but lovely! And the basket is 👌🏻. Excited to get it out again. I remember when we first bought it I was so excited!

On an aside I have a twitch in my eye. It’s driving me insane!

Yakadee · 09/10/2018 18:06

@Since2016 - I have a sty on mine! Have for a month now 😩

Alicejj8x · 09/10/2018 18:48

@Baby160P
How did the scan go xxxx

Wames90 · 09/10/2018 19:10

@emalady we’ve sorted ours out too and have gone for the silver cross pioneer as well. I managed to get a bargain second hand deal on one which is why I bought it so early but pleased I don’t have to think about it now!

AutumnLee12 · 09/10/2018 19:14

@emalady I'm a first timer and have got a pram already, we bought it straight after the 20week scan!

Lookingforadvice123 · 09/10/2018 19:19

Thanks all! I'm not worried as such as I feel so much movement once I'm lying down in bed, and I know the placenta cushions it. I'm just worried it'll worry me later on, if that makes sense. My placenta was posterior with DS so I literally felt movement all day on, this is so new to me!

Surprisedmom · 09/10/2018 19:20

@Lookingforadvice123 I have an anterior placenta too and feel my boy more when sitting/lying down in the evenings. I think like other posters have said that the quiet and not moving wakes them up. That being said my little one always gets kicking after i’ve eaten, especially oranges for some reason and i’m a teacher and have felt him kicking during the day sometimes when teaching. I seem to feel a lot for someone with an anterior placenta but he has got long legs and my placenta is high so that might be why.

twiglet · 09/10/2018 19:41

I'm a first timer and we have got our pram/travel system. We originally were going to wait til Jan sales but the shop we went to had £350 off!

We went with a Jane Crosswalk but we had to have an all terrain due to rural paths/tracks to get to our house and taking the dog for a walk.

Fredthespider · 09/10/2018 19:46

I'm a first timer and we've decided on a pram system - going for the cosatto giggle 2. The basket isn't as big as I'd prefer, but I think it'll be big enough for what we need. It's on offer in mothercare atm and we're going to wait until the expectant parent event to get the voucher before we buy.

welshweasel · 09/10/2018 20:00

@fredthespider it’s a nice pram but just be aware that cossatto car seats are not recommended as they are only tested to the bare minimum requirements - not sure if you get a car seat included but I’d look at a joie/maxi cosi/cybex instead.

welshweasel · 09/10/2018 20:02

I need to share that I’ve finally found maternity tights that are thick, stay up all day long and don’t break the bank - from boots! Currently on offer too. It’s made my day, which is a worry...

Fredthespider · 09/10/2018 20:10

@welshweasel oh no! Where have you seen that??

welshweasel · 09/10/2018 20:16

@fredthespider I’m a bit of a car seat geek I’m afraid - my kids will be rear facing until they leave home 😂. People think that all car seats are the same safety wise but it’s not true. European law only requires them to be tested at 30mph in a frontal collision and 18mph in a rear collision. Cosatto only test to these minimum requirements whereas the better regarded companies test at much higher speeds. It’s not necessarily to do with price - you can get a joie juva for around £40, which is a far safer seat than the cosatto. I’d recommend joining the car seat advice uk Facebook page - it’s full of amazing advice and you’ll be able to search previous posts about cosatto. I’m happy to help with advice for anyone unsure about what to do with car seats!

Leonora94 · 09/10/2018 20:19

This is my first and I have an anterior placenta and really haven’t felt much at all...if anything. I’m 21 weeks trying not to worry though as all was perfect at the scan and the midwife guest 23 weeks until I start to feel something.

Celebelly · 09/10/2018 20:21

I have a Which subscription if anyone wants me to look up the details for their specific car seat or pram. It has info on the safety testing and rates them etc.

We've gone for a Kiddy Evoluna car seat as it's one of the few that lies flat both inside and outside the car. My parents are a 3-hour car ride away and because of the limits of keeping babies in car seats that incline, we wanted a lie-flat car seat so we didn't have any problems with that (plus it gives us a bit more freedom about bring in a sleeping baby in car seat, etc.!) It wasn't cheap, though, but it's one of those things that I think is worth spending. Plus it cost the same as our crash-tested dog crate so maybe that's not so bad :D It attaches to our chosen pram too, although not sure yet if we'll use that much or get a separate carrycot.

If you're planning to use a car seat as your travel system and with your pram, just be aware of the 2-hour rule - babies shouldn't be in their car seats at the usual angle for too long for breathing reasons, so if you're going for a drive, then using the seat in pram, and then back in car, and it doesn't have lie-flat capability, just keep an eye on the time.

welshweasel · 09/10/2018 20:22

It’s 30 minutes in a car seat for newborns! Quite how you’re meant to get home from the hospital if you live rurally is beyond me!!

Celebelly · 09/10/2018 20:23

I know, we're 45 minutes at least from the hospital as it is!
