I second the hands and knees. I sometimes go down on my elbows and wiggle my backside in the air.

thatshabbychick · 29/10/2018 08:36

I haven't been on this thread in so long- so much has been discussed! Hope everyone is feeling ok? According to my dates I am 12+1 today, but I had a scan at about 7 weeks which put me back a few days, so I could be 11+4 or around that mark. I have my "12 week" scan on Thursday and I cannot wait. I need to see something on the screen, because at the moment I just don't 'feel' pregnant and I'm scared of possible mmc. I already have two boys, who were both healthy pregnancies, but for some reason this time around I am very paranoid about miscarriage. I still have sore boobs (well one is sore, the other isn't really!) and I have been feeling bloated and sick, but I'm overweight anyway, so the bloatedness/bump situation is hard to figure out. I've usually got quite a flat tummy, despite being fat, but my tummy is definitely staying bloated more than it used to. I've been feeling sick on/off, dizzy and also had some sort of virus which has made me feel sick, headaches etc, so it's hard to know if that's illness symptoms or pregnancy!! Arrghhh! I just cannot wait for the scan to make it all feel more believable!x

We’re going to need a new thread!

Sorry you’ve been feeling so rubbish, thatshabbychick, I hope it passes soon.

Trapped wind is horrible, definitely second getting on your hands/elbows and knees and wiggling your bottom around! Also a bath might help you to relax and get things moving. I don’t have this problem but have a lack of bowel movements - not feeling constipated, I just don’t need to go - ever!! Maybe I should get back on the Fybogel, my “bump” is probably poo Grin

zoClueless · 29/10/2018 13:38

I've also been struggling to stay caught up since the tail end of last week. Almost thread 3 already!
I'm excited to see more people have their 12 week scans coming up ☺️

Shantotto · 29/10/2018 15:05

Argh I ate spreadable St agur today, it’s psteirised and I just thought it’s so heavily processed it’s just like eating some Philadelphia or something which I know is fine. It’s just now really badly triggered my anxiety and I’m having a major freak out. I’m about ready to ring my midwife but I’m sure she’d think I was crazy. Well crazier than she already thinks I am!

frankiefumbles · 29/10/2018 15:31

@Shantotto if it's any consolation we are the only county that has such anally retentive rules on cheese consumption. I'm sure you'll be fine as long as you're not knocking it back by the kg daily

fadgadget · 29/10/2018 15:38

I love cheese, especially all the soft and blue stuff! I was staring in the window of a cheese counter the other day like a sad puppy looking longingly at all the good stuff. I've started having cottage cheese with chives on crackers to ease hunger pangs which is surprisingly tasty and very low in bad stuff.

dreaminofholidays · 29/10/2018 16:15

@fadgadget I'm so with you on the cheese. I love it. Party food has appeared back in the shops which I just love. Yesterday I was staring longingly at the brie and cranberry things in m&s.
is anyone else finding along with food aversion they get a sort of craving. Like a meal pops in my mind and I'm like I can eat that today.
I thought about a toastie with chorizo and then remembered chorizo is out the window at the moment. I may need to look into how to cook some sliced stuff and indulge one day.

Xxx

lifechanginglemoncake · 29/10/2018 16:49

I believe @dreaminofholidays you can eat chorizo and salami etc if it's been frozen for 3 days or so. You could buy some and freeze it then thaw it and enjoy! Also you're allowed these things if they're cooked so perhaps some kind of paella type thing with cooked chorizo. I'm hungry now!!

Lorrie3 · 29/10/2018 17:13

The food rules in the UK seem much more strict than Ireland! We are allowed cheese other than blue cheese and unpasteurized!
I've been so tired lately during the day and wide awake and unable to get comfy at nighttime...had a big cry out of nowhere in bed last night but I think it was pure frustration!

fadgadget · 29/10/2018 17:38

That's the same @Lorrie3, cheese is fine except unpasteurized. It's just a shame that most of the yummy ones are unpasteurized...!

fadgadget · 29/10/2018 17:40

And except some soft cheeses too I should have said. Though I've read if they are cooked its ok...

Expectingnumberfour · 29/10/2018 18:26

I had a big sales pitch about pregnacare from my MW I was told I must take it throughout pregnancy - I'm not one for supplements, I explain I eat plenty of green veg and red meat oily fish and eggs - I also spend at least 3 hours outside running and volunteering on a weekend (I do venture outside other times too ) I've never been deficient why should I buy expensive supplements - anyone else had a similar sales pitch?

frankiefumbles · 29/10/2018 18:39

Honestly, I'm not eating obviously blue mouldy cheese but I sure as hell am eating Brie etc. I might pick off the rind if I'm feeling extravagant... ;)

frankiefumbles · 29/10/2018 18:40

*cooked

Pebblespony · 29/10/2018 18:44

I hate pregnacare. Like trying to swallow bullets and they give me horrible nausea and weird tasting burps shudder

fadgadget · 29/10/2018 19:02

I bought folic acid and vitamin d and thats it. My MW told me thats perfect and to consider a multi vitamin one those run out just to get a little bump of iron etc. Tesco sell a cheap pregnancy multi vitamin so I bought a box for when those two run out - the whole Pregnacare and expensive supplements game generally IMO is a load of old toot.

I think the Tesco ones were something like £2.50 and seems to be frequently on 3 for 2 offer as well but I thought I'd check if it agrees with me first. Pregnacare is a total rip off for a month of tablets.

purplestar9 · 29/10/2018 19:20

@Pebblespony and @FrazzyAndFrumpled I haven't found that it works for me yet but the trapped wind gets worse at night so I may try it again later. The sipping hot water did work last night though!
I have the same issue with not going to the toilet! Again, not constipated but just don't need to go, probably why I'm so bloated all the time! Haha

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 29/10/2018 19:29

Ahh you just reminded me! I just take the cheapo Tesco pregnancy ones, nothing wrong with them 👍 take them with/after food to reduce any nausea!

purplestar9 · 29/10/2018 19:45

I did originally think pregnacare was really expensive when I paid about a fiver for 30 days worth. I then found 90 days worth for £11 in boots which I thought was better!
I know there are cheaper ones out there but I'm a bit fussy with tablets and these seem to agree with me so I'm sticking with them!

SurfingOwl · 29/10/2018 19:58

I’m only taking vitamin d and aspirin on a regular basis but on most days I am having a supremarket own brand multi vitamin as well. I did take folic acid for the first trimester and have just stopped, although it is in the multivitamin.

I don’t really like Pregnacare possibly because of the iron, although I’m not sure.

purplestar9 · 29/10/2018 20:37

I have a question for you all. Is it safe to be having hot baths? I mean like normal temperature hot bath. I can't stand getting in a 'like warm' bath, it has to be hot and I do this at least every other day (shower on the other days). I've never asked the question, is it safe?

rosettesforjill · 29/10/2018 20:40

Had a bit of a mad day today with DH being rushed to hospital with suspected appendicitis (turns out probably not and home now but still in a lot of pain) and DS sent home with suspected hand food and mouth, for which nursery are insisting on a 48 hour exclusion because they can't get rid of it and it's running rampant. BUT I got my first definite kick today! So not all bad...

Baths are fine. I'm having lots. It's just a bath that's being kept hot ie like a Jacuzzi that's a problem. A regular bath will cool down. Also, there is a concern that you might faint after you come out if the bath is very hot.
