Thanks @frankiefumbles !! I'm not sure where we'll be putting this 1 never mind extras!!!we'll need a new car as it is!!

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 28/10/2018 07:55

How is everyone this morning? Insomnia hit bad last night, I was awake for 3hrs then DS woke up at 4.20 😩 whose bloody idea was it to put the clocks back?!

Also, itchy nipples anyone?!

Shazafied · 28/10/2018 08:31

How’s everyone doing on here ? Anyone having their 12w scan soon?

I have mine on tues morning when I’ll be 13w 3 days I think. The wait is driving me mad. I had a scan at 8w 5d and all was good, and had nothing untoward happen in the interim .... I just keep convincing myself something has gone wrong , silent miscarriage etc. Does anyone else feel like this ?! I can’t temember being this anxious first time round. X

rosettesforjill · 28/10/2018 08:33

I had a bad night's sleep last night as well. Feeling really weepy and emotional at the moment and had loads of stupid negative thoughts going round in my head I need to get back to my Headspace app I think!

Great news on the scan @purplestar9

My sleep is all messed up from the old jet lag and now the cold. I think it's all practice for late nights and early mornings and all the inbetween with a newborn!

dreaminofholidays · 28/10/2018 10:30

@purplestar9 congratulations on your scan! Lovely to have your proper due date so you can start planning things like mat leave start date. How was the appointment?

@expectingnumber4 what a nightmare with your midwife appointment. Very irritating. Hope you get your scan date asap so you can get some answers on dates and the number of babies 😊

@frazzyandfrumpled the insomnia absolutely sucks doesn't it. Especially when you're totally shattered already. Last night one of my dogs just kept getting us up throughout the night. No reason for it, he just decided we weren't getting any sleep. Now I'm watching him sleep the day away....

@shazafied mine is a week tomorrow. At least Tuesday means you are nearly there. I had a scan at 9 weeks which like you was all good but I'm so paranoid it's now all gone wrong. It's just a very difficult time but only 2 sleeps and you'll have had your scan.

@rosettesforjill what is a headspace app? how far along are you? I think it's so difficult not to be paranoid at the moment. Like I'm looking forward but I have to pepper everything with all being well or fingers crossed

@dreaminofholidays I'll be 15 weeks tomorrow, but it's not about baby really, more worry about whether we've made the right decision having another child, feeling like I'm a rubbish wife/mum etc. I think (hope!) it's mostly irrational and hormonal and I can see past that at the moment but it isn't pleasant

Headspace is a meditation app which I have used before and it's great!

purplestar9 · 28/10/2018 12:29

@dreaminofholidays thank you! It went great to be fair, baby was in a good position so all measurements were easily taken. It just went so fast! Couldn't believe how much the baby was moving around!
It's really strange, before my EDD was 30th April so everyone expecting in April was ahead of me, now that I'm in May, it's the opposite!
How far along are you?

Pebblespony · 28/10/2018 13:19

I'm 10 weeks. I was getting along grand sickness-wise. It's gone mad the last few days. I'm sick as a dog.

Kylieemilyj · 28/10/2018 14:23

I honestly don't get how you ladies do it with kids and going through all the ms and tiredness, especially if you work too! I only have my boyfriend to look after and he's basically like a 3 year old half the time and that tires me out enough. I really salute all of you going through this after 1, 2 or even 3 times! You all seem to really have it together as well❤️

Anyway I'm now 12 weeks and my scan is tomorrow! I'm so excited but Im so worried somethings going to be wrong.

Expectingnumberfour · 28/10/2018 14:30

I'm off to the excited named women's health unit for my booking appointment after yesterday's farce!! (The appointment they told me they can only do in my home!!!)

The boys are off on a camping trip (in a camper van) with MIL and my littlest has just come down with chickenpox 😳 he's not bothered though so hopefully will manage away with grandma!!

Still have no symptoms apart from a belly! Found some really high waisted jeans I can wear that camouflage it a bit!

Have told some of my favourite people who will be 'god'parents (we don't really do god but there's no better name really!) who are thrilled after one stopped swearing !!

Hope everyone else is having a good Sunday

purplestar9 · 28/10/2018 15:41

@Kylieemilyj I agree with you, this is my first and I have also just come down with a cold which is really really crappy! But I couldn't imagine looking after other children at the same time!
I had my first scan last Thursday, I wasn't worried about it until the night before where I started feeling so nervous! But all is good and healthy and I'm sure yours will be too! Let us know how you get on :)

Firstbornunicorn · 28/10/2018 17:01

Is anyone else despairing at all the stuff a baby all apparently needs, and wondering what exactly is necessary?

My mum is super keen to buy us a pram and wants me to look for one now so she can pay it off, but there are apparently about a trillion different types/configurations of prams. I dunno which one I need... Presumably a sort of walky one?!

Then there's those co-sleeping cribs my MIL keeps talking about, but how exactly do they make life easier? Do you just sidle up to it, half asleep, throw a boob in and then stick the baby on? Is that supposed to be safe?

I thought the wedding industry was bad, but this is ridiculous! 😂

Expectingnumberfour · 28/10/2018 17:05

Booking appointment done I had to say no about 1000 times!!

They've sent a request for a scan through but they cant book it into the system so they'll book it tomorrow and it might be next week!

So at least I'm in the system now!

HalfBloodPrincess · 28/10/2018 17:08

They don’t need half the stuff you think.
I’ve never had a next to me as I co slept with all of mine (youngest ds is 16 months and still in with me!)

Pram wise I’ve bought a travel system each time but always end up switching to an umbrella stroller as soon as they could sit up!

Expectingnumberfour · 28/10/2018 17:09

@Firstbornunicorn I've never used a cosleeping cot but I know they are £££

My best advice for most baby things is to look second hand most things are less than half price fb selling groups are fab

I'm not buying much we've got a buggy/travel system I need to buy a car seat - I'll buy a few bits of clothes but I'm not going to buy in bulk just as and when

SurfingOwl · 28/10/2018 17:15

I think waiting until I need something and then relying on next day delivery is my plan @Firstbornunicorn apart from a particular pram, if it is reduced in Black Friday/Christmas sales.

I’ve felt horrible the last few weeks with a cold and being run down with a bug. I hope everyone else is doing better.

rosettesforjill · 28/10/2018 17:18

We loved our Next2Me crib and DS was in it up until 6 months. We'll use it again for this baby! I didn't crack lying down breastfeeding for ages but it made it easier to transfer baby from boob to crib with the least possible disturbance.

Re prams - you want to go and try a few out in store to see which you find most comfortable really. I wouldn't get stuck on the look of one particular one as you want it to be practical and not dread taking it out! We ended up with a Mamas and Papas one

Shazafied · 28/10/2018 17:27

Thanks @dreamin - glad to know I’m not the only anxious one !! Good luck for your scan- I’m sure bothbot scans will be fine !!

Pebblespony · 28/10/2018 20:30

We had DD in the pram bit of the buggy when she was really small and then moved her to a cot bed. She was a phenomenal sleeper though and I wasn't breastfeeding for long.

MrsReader · 28/10/2018 20:54

I've got stretch marks at 13 weeks- is that normal?!

purplestar9 · 28/10/2018 21:54

I am currently struggling with really painful trapped wind, which has been made worse by having a cold. I barely slept last night but I'm back in work tomorrow so really need a decent night's sleep tonight. I'm taking paracetamol for the cold and rennies deflatine for the trapped wind. Anyone have any other suggestions?

mayago · 28/10/2018 22:03

I can't seem to catch up here for long, sorry ladies!

We bought a small crib for DD to keep in our room before she was born. It matches our furniture, was easy to manoeuvre around, and seemed perfect! I put up with it for almost three months before caving at buying a next2me. It was really worth it for me; so much easier to feed at night! And to be able to see baby without getting out of bed..

I'm starting to feel guilty about this baby not having the same as our first. We're reusing the nursery, but not turfing DD out until this time next year, when hopefully she's soundly in a bed. It means there isn't anywhere for this baby's things, and that's starting to grate on me already!

Our scan is Wednesday. I'm so much more apprehensive than the first time around! Seems a common theme here though, which makes me feel a bit more normal about it.

Expectingnumberfour · 28/10/2018 22:04

@purplestar9 I find getting on my hands and knees and rocking helps move everything and let it 'move' (and looks really silly!)

purplestar9 · 28/10/2018 22:30

@Expectingnumberfour thank you, I'll try that next, I'm currently sipping hot water which was a suggestion from my mum, and rocking side to side while on my knees (I just thought it might help!)
