Had a wee scare this moment... tmi but I went for a no.2 and while wiping I saw bright red blood in the toilet. My hemorroids have thrombosed again which I’m assuming caused the bleed. Wanted to phone MW but thought they would laugh at me! I’m usually not a fuss pot but have suffered extreme blood loss from a ruptured hemorroid this year already. Wouldn’t want to experience it again in pregnancy. I know there is not much they can do but i just wanted a hand hold... is that sad?
Hope all you ladies are keeping fine! Happy Saturday x

SurfingOwl · 13/10/2018 18:59

I can understand that being scary @UntilTheVeryEnd. I get haemorrhoids as well but thankfully none have ruptured. Unless anything develops, I’d probably ring the midwife on Monday, just for reassurance.

I've lost about 12 lbs so far because of feeling so nauseous. Everything smells bad. Everything makes me feel ill. Had a hot dog today and 2 shredded wheat. Hopefully be able to eat a bit more once I finish work. My appetite seems to be coming back a bit more in recent days. Bmi 30 which is lovely aha at my first appointment. Checked this weekend and it's now dropped to 27.6. Just trying to drink plenty of fluids and eat what I can when I can. Hope everyone is doing well x

Pebblespony · 13/10/2018 23:08

Hi all, good to hear everyone's still hanging in there despite everything. I had a scan on Thurs after my second bleed. It all looks good although they think I may have an infection. I've been off work for nearly four weeks, still have a chest infection and work are not happy. They're sending me to the company doctor. I really feel the trust!

SassehMonsta · 14/10/2018 07:58

Hi all - after a rubbish few days, i have been to the hospital and had 4 bags of fluid. Feeling better now with more effective meds, and back home after 26 hours in hospital.

I have lost 9lbs so far and hoping not to lose much more - last time round I lost 1st 2lbs in first 9 weeks so not looking to do that again! Once my sickness was under control, I quickly gained back the lost weight, plus some, and had a healthy pregnancy.

I hope you are all doing OK, and that those.of you with extreme tiredness manage some rest x

sprinkleofsunshine · 14/10/2018 10:03

@SassehMonsta hope you're ok!

I haven't weighed myself yet but I've been sick every day bad 1 or 2 for the last 3.5 weeks. Skipped meals or just generally eaten what I fancied when so I have something in me, feel bad as my diet has been so poor!

Pebblespony · 14/10/2018 12:14

This nausea is crap alright but it sounds like I'm getting off easy compared to you two!

sprinkleofsunshine · 14/10/2018 12:25

I plan to make a big vegetable soup today from scratch to try and get some veg into me. Problem is I fancy something then by the time Ive made it, it makes me feel sick Grin

For over a week I've been having aches in my tailbone area and top right buttock area. This has now developed into a shooting pain through my right bum area and down my leg, I only have to lift my leg slightly or move sometimes and I get the shooting pain, anyone else having this?

UntilTheVeryEnd · 14/10/2018 12:42

@sprinkleofsunshine sounds like sciatica! I had it really bad in both my previous pregnancies and have started getting the shooting pains again in my legs and pains in my butt cheek. Try hot water bottles on your bum and lower back. Or rolling a tennis ball against the wall on your bum. Painkillers never touched mine but try alternating ibro and paracetamol. I was prescribed diazepam and dihydrocodine for the end in my final trimester. I never took it cause I felt guilty for baby but I did suffer bad with it. Hopefully yours won’t get so bad x

sprinkleofsunshine · 14/10/2018 12:46

Thanks @UntilTheVeryEnd I thought it sounded like that as I've had sciatica pain before (not in pregnancy) but it seems so early?! How far gone are you? I'm worried if it starts so early will it be horrendous towards the end!

Because it's on and off I can prob do without tablets as it's only the sharp pain now and then but will def try the hot water bottle and ball sounds a good idea thank you!

Pebblespony · 14/10/2018 12:47

I have this back pain too. I was told the ball on bum trick last time. I had it bad and it turned into SPD. I have a referral for the physio dept in the maternity for when I'm 12 weeks.

MimiSunshine · 14/10/2018 12:48

@sprinkleofsunshine that sounds like sciatica.
I had similar pain in my tail bone at the end of my first pregnancy but it didn’t sleead thank goodness.
I had acupuncture which I’d never tried before but would really recommend, not sure how early in pregnancy you can have it though.

I would say go to the doctors next week if it doesn’t get better if it’s own accord. Without wanting to be a doom-monger, sciatica can be really debilitating in pregnancy (my friend had it really bad) so it’s best to try and get on top of it - physio etc

MimiSunshine · 14/10/2018 12:52

Just to say and sorry for sounding bossy, but please don’t take ibuprofen while pregnant unless specifically told to be a doctor.

Paracetamol is usually fine

UntilTheVeryEnd · 14/10/2018 12:52

I’m 12 weeks tomorrow and the shooting pains started around 8 weeks. I had really bad SPD as well last time as well so don’t expect it to improve with time unfortunately.
It could just be a slight trapper nerve causing the sciatica? Have you twisted funny or anything? If you don’t have a history of it in pregnancy then hopefully it will improve. And maybe be prepared for it not to improve - I try to raise my legs for a wee break a few times a day in the hope of easing the pain. Once the kids are in bed I’m glued to my hot water bottle (kettle never off the boil)
Some people say hot baths to ease discomfort but I struggled with the pain getting out so wasn’t good for me.

UntilTheVeryEnd · 14/10/2018 12:56

@mimisunshine your right enough about ibroprofen. I was told to take it post 30 weeks - this wasn’t made clear in my original post. @sprinkleofsunshine paracetamol only in early pregnancy. (My apologies)

sprinkleofsunshine · 14/10/2018 12:59

Thanks all,

@UntilTheVeryEnd this is my first pregnancy (well two previous losses but in further long this time) hence not suffering with t before in pregnancy but I have had sciatica pain previously which went away.

I have another scan on Wednesday as last weeks didn't go so good so fx all being well and everything is progressing fine I will visit drs after that go ask about it. Yours sounds fairly bad you poor thing, it's very sharp and sudden, I'm sat down now and am fine but don't want it to turn into spd or get worse yes. Don't think I've twisted or turned funny or anything to my knowledge, started as aching in tailbone area that's gone but seems to have developed into this.

earlybirdhasanap · 14/10/2018 13:15

@sprinkleofsunshine I have this and I had terrible spd last time. I'm now seeing an obstetric physio privately which has helped a lot. I googled women's health and obstetric physio in my area and found her.

sprinkleofsunshine · 14/10/2018 13:24

Thanks @earlybirdhasanap it seems like from people who have had it in previous pregnancies it often does develop into spd. I'll be sure to speak to dr or look into something privately, I'm kind of on edge until my scan this week and then all being well I'll get to it.

Thanks all x

SurfingOwl · 14/10/2018 13:33

Yes @sprinkleofsunshine I have this but it is Piriformis syndrome and because the muscle is so inflamed, the pain spreads down my leg in the same way sciatica does. It’s apparently relatively common in pregnancy.

Pebblespony · 14/10/2018 20:26

It drives me mental at night.

Niftyknitter · 15/10/2018 11:16

12 week scan today, they put me forward 3 days so officially due 26/04. Baby looks healthy and happy with a low nt measurement. Finally feel like this is real

May-ish 2019 - thread 2!
UntilTheVeryEnd · 15/10/2018 11:47

Lovely scan photo @Niftyknitter

So glad to hear all it well.
Looking forward to all the upcoming scan photos in the next few weeks Smile

Firstbornunicorn · 15/10/2018 12:40

Right, can someone please tell me how Meghan whatever-her-title-is-now has the energy to go on a tour of Australia when I can't even manage to scrub my loo??!

fadgadget · 15/10/2018 12:53

Thats lovely congrats @niftyknitter

UntilTheVeryEnd · 15/10/2018 13:06

Maybe because she doesn’t have to scrub her own loo while she is doing her your? Think that’s the jolly difference x
