I feel decidedly odd that our parents don't know yet but randoms like bravissimo sales assistant, a waitress (I was unsure about a menu item), & gym instructor do.

UntilTheVeryEnd · 06/10/2018 18:43

I caved today and bought some matty jeans and leggings from lidls! I’m embarrassed to have to buy them at 10+5 but needs must... anyone else having to take the plunge?

earlybirdhasanap · 06/10/2018 18:52

@seeingdots I'm the opposite. I find it much easier to tell people I don't know than those I know.
@UntilTheVeryEnd I've not gone for maternity stuff yet but i got some jeggings in the next size up from H&M yesterday that are more comfortable. Although finding a size 12 was actually a nightmare and it made me really cross. Loads of size 4,6 and 8 a few 12s and no 14s. I was hoping to get a size 14 so they'd last longer but no chance Angry.

seeingdots · 06/10/2018 19:24

It's not so much telling people I don't know, more the idea of telling the wider family, friends, folk at work etc that makes me feel quite uncomfortable. Or maybe it's more the idea of having to announce it rather than the telling individual people. At work it's the norm to send an email around our dept (about 30 people) but I didn't last time and not sure I want to this time either. I've got a big family too and we don't see each other all that often so i'll need to do some sort of group message or someone is bound to feel left out. Bleh!

A11yj123 · 06/10/2018 20:01

Hey anyone here expecting twins? Im 6+2 and had a scan at 5+6 showing 2 sacs and 2 yokes a follow up scan due 12th

Shazafied · 06/10/2018 20:13

I already had mat jeans and have been wearing them since 7.5 weeks !!

SurfingOwl · 06/10/2018 22:09

I’m also in maternity jeans and have been for a while.

Patapouf · 06/10/2018 22:31

How have you announced it to close family/friends if you've told them? I'm so nervous about it! 27 is quite young to be having a child in my workplace and I'm expecting some judgey reactions (even though I've been married 5 years and they know it).

My booking in appointment letter and text arrived, it's next week when I'm bang on 8 weeks.

I ordered a couple of maternity trousers/ jeans and they look ridiculous, the bump fabric is obviously so loose so I think I just need to size up for now until I have a bump rather than a belly Blush

SassehMonsta · 07/10/2018 06:10

I've been ummig and ahhing about mat jeans again. I regularly wear my maternity work trousers as I only have 2 regular pairs that fit so if I'm behind on washing I grab my mat ones!!

I've told a few people - some close mates, a.mentor, my manager, HR manager and a couple of people in shops that I frequent and am on first name terms with! MiL and SFiL know, but not my parents, any of our siblings or DD. Have a day out with my parents today so we shall see how that works out...!!

Time is going.so very slowly. Its.less.than 2 weeks until our early scan, and just over 2 weeks until booking in appt, but it feels like forever away!

We already know h9w we are announcing it to my sister/DD and my family. Got t-shirt for DD that says "This is what an awesome big sister looks like", So all being well, after the scan we will give it to DD and get my sister to tell her what it says on the Friday. Then Saturday afternoon will probably take her in her new top to my parents house to show them too.

UntilTheVeryEnd · 07/10/2018 07:43

@SassehMonsta I’m loving the T-shirt idea as well to announce the news to family. I was looking on amazon and seen “I’m going to be a big sister (again)” - think I’ll get a T-shirt for DS as well.

My DM and DGranny know and my SIL but no one else knows at all. We are having to keep the pregnancy hush hush until my DSIL gives birth in the next week or so, then give her “time in the spotlight” as it were. So won’t be telling for another few weeks yet... which I must admit is getting a lot harder to hide now that I actually can’t fit in my normal clothes (and DSIL has all my matty stuff Hmm) hoping she pops soon haha.

Yay I’m not the only one buying/ wearing matty trousers... that makes me feel a lot better. I’ve also been slobbing around the house in DH joggers and T-shirt’s Grin I’ve absolutely no shame!

Happy Sunday everyone x

SassehMonsta · 07/10/2018 09:28

SiL sounds annoying. :/

Last time, we told one set of parents with a "we're going to need a bigger boat" card (they live on a boat), and the other with "Upgrading to grandparents" mugs with loading bars.

ZoeOutdoors · 07/10/2018 12:46

Does the worrying ever stop? I've had random shoulder pain and my first thought was how it's a symptom of ectopic pregnancy 😕 Its pretty irrational though as I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and have had no bleeding and only the odd stomach pain!

user1467718508 · 07/10/2018 12:55

👋 happy Sunday all!

Can I please huddle in with you?

30, first baby (fingers crossed!) 6+3

Have a scan booked for 2 weeks time but considering bringing it forward by a week as I'm struggling with my impatience 😬

That one week won't make much of a difference in terms of what we'll be able to see, will it?

MissSmith80 · 07/10/2018 13:35

👋 @plantingandpotting welcome to the gang x

Mumtobe89 · 07/10/2018 15:29

Hi everyone. I am 29 and currently 7+2 with my first baby.
Not feeling much at the moment just exhaustion and some dizziness. I am nervously awaiting sickness any day...
Have my booking appointment on 16th.

Firstbornunicorn · 07/10/2018 15:46

Welcome, newbies! 😁

Firstbornunicorn · 07/10/2018 17:45

Oh, my gosh, I cannot stop throwing up. Someone send in the priest 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

MissSmith80 · 07/10/2018 18:11

Welcome @Mumtobe89 👋

Beckyv88 · 07/10/2018 18:47

@mumtobe89 7+1 and 30 here! So quite similar to you. My nausea started earlier this week, but controlling it a bit by eating small things regularly. Welcome!

Beckyv88 · 07/10/2018 18:48

@firstbornunicorn ahh so sorry for you. Apparently you can get anti nausea medicine!

MimiSunshine · 07/10/2018 19:32

Got my letter for 12wk scan date through. It’s not for just over another 2 weeks and was hoping it would be a little bit sooner than that (I’ll be 13wks by then).
I’m going to try and reschedule for a more convinent time if nothing else but I remember from last time that it’s not easy to do and near impossible to being forward 😏

Popsalot15 · 07/10/2018 19:56

@MimiSunshine that’s exciting! How long did it take after your booking appointment? X

MimiSunshine · 07/10/2018 20:25

2wks, had my booking in at 8+5, the next two weeks and a bit are going to drag 😬😏

Amolly · 07/10/2018 22:16

@Mumtobe89 hey I'm the same. 29 and 7+6 with my first :)

@firstbornunicorn so sorry your sickness is bad.

My nausea has calmed down a bit today to the point where iv been able to have my first meal in nearly 2 weeks. A chicken butty :) it was delicious. Still calm stand the thought of anything else tho. An ice lolly taste almost made me throw up.
@ZoeOutdoors I've been the same worrying. Been having cramps since 2 weeks. They calmed dawn the last couple weeks but I'm noticing them again tonight.

Sat watching tv tonight and the thought hit me that wow I'm going to be a mum and have a little one holding my hand and playing and growing. I'm now crying aha happy tears

SassehMonsta · 08/10/2018 06:13

Planning and plott8ng, there's huge difference each week at this stage. If you can, hold off until the 8week mark! Last time we went for early scan around what we tho7ght was 7 weeks. Turns out it was 6+4 and we didn't get to see much - friend went same and she was 8weeks ish and got a much better look! :/ This time I have booked in for 8+1 - Friday after next - can't wait time is going sooooo slooowwwwly
