Hope everyone is well xxx

Naetha · 03/07/2007 09:17

Sorry you're feeling a bit sick Imawurzel - could it be heartburn? Try taking a (pregnancy approved of course) antacid like Rennie or Gaviscon and see if it helps.

I'm feeling much better this morning, although the codeine has made me completely spaced out, and lack of sleep just making me incapable of stringing a coherent thought together! I guess this is good preparation for later pregnancy and after the birth!

I knew I shouldn't have risked the take-away, its just the place smelled so nice! My reward was 3 hours sleep, 4 hours of cricket, and 3 cats all trying to sit on me at once!

goingfor3 · 03/07/2007 09:36

Naetha - Are you having a general anaesthetic for your op? I have to see the aneasthetist on thursday and decide how I am going to have mine.

gingeme · 03/07/2007 09:51

Hope you feel beter soon ladies. Not feeling too sicky this morning. Though ms doesnt always go at 12 weeks. Some ladies have it right through. Sorry you didnt need to hear that did you?
Can I just say totaly off subject Freecycle rocks

LilyLoo · 03/07/2007 10:02

Hope everyone feeling a little better today . I am after demolishing a bowl of cereal and two crumpets.
DD 2 has just drwan a picture and asked me if the baby will like it when she pops out of my belly
Well it's raining here for a change today so might pop off to my sisters so dd can play with her cousins as we haven't left the house for 3 days with this awful weather. Glad i'm not on maternity leave this year !
Although can't say i'm looking forward to entertaining for 6 weeks of the summer hols though if the weather doesn't improve. Think may have to book a week abroad probably cheaper than staying at home TBH.

PBirdy · 03/07/2007 10:24

Sorry to hear about the morning sickness - I still have it too occaisonally but I have lost that all day sickness feeling. I am betting I will feel it occaisionally the whole way through.

I am glad to hear that the consensus seems to be that you will wake up if you are sleeping in the wrong position. I have had trouble getting to sleep recently so I don't need another thing to stress about!

Naetha - Oh no, I felt really bad for you with your 3am post! You are brave to go to work - I would not have bothered after a night like that.

Beller - yes, I agree the past few weeks have gone much faster than at the beginning. I think it might be because I am not quite as obsessed about it all as I was at the beginning. I still think about it every day and post on this site and read my books, but it was literally the only thing I thought about a few weeks ago. So maybe that is why it has gone faster - not sure.

pussycatmomma · 03/07/2007 10:33

Hi all, a quick hello from me, just to let you know I am still here! Am 11 weeks on thursday Feeling rough though, tired out, sick, skin horrible, emotional, cant sleep etc etc - other than that im fine! !
This thread seems to move v. quickly - you chatty lot! I havent posted much due to a)time, i seem to spend most spare time napping!, b)feeling too sorry for myself when im not asleep, and c) this is still not sinking in for me yet, and i darent become too involved just for fear of anything happening. My dh says the baby will be on its way out before i get a reality check....
The other thing is I was finding it too traumatic to see people leaving the thread because something awful had happened . I was starting to obsess that if it happened so readily on here, then why should i be so lucky?
But anyway, i digress, just wanted to say Hi and hope everyone is doing ok.
We had another scan a couple of weeks ago at 9 weeks, all was well, and we have our next one on 17th July.
love to all, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi PCM - great to see you, was thinking about ou the other day. Glad your scan went well. xx

angelcake99 · 03/07/2007 10:59

Had 12 week scan yesterday which went well, got my blood sugar testing kit again, I had Gestational Diabetes last time around and have been told that its likely I will get it much sooner this time, so have to start testing already! Had slight bleeding again last night, it seems to be around the time that I would have had my period, of course I can't stop worrying about it but there seems little point going telling the hospital again as only had scan yesterday. Has anyone else suffered this at all? Sickness had worn off but has come back now even though I am nearing 13 weeks

anyway, glad you are all doing well, hope Mrs McJ comes on soon as I have been thinknig about her and hoping all is well.
Take care ladies xx

gingeme · 03/07/2007 11:13

angelcake99 do you automaticaly have to do a blood sugar count then? My Mum is diabetic so I have to have a fasting glucose test each time. Its disgusting because you have to have an empty tummy then drink Lukozade which I detest . What did you have to do with gestational diabetes just watch your diet?
Glad all went well with your scan pussycatmumma
Well I have just been through my wardrobe and looked at all my lovely new summer stuff Ive gradualy been collecting from Ebay and have packed it all away till next summer So Im down to a few elasticated tracky bottoms and two pairs of jeans that I can still fit into and 3 pairs of maternity trousers whixh I dont fit into just yet Ho hum. Still if the weather carries on the way it is I wont need any summer clothes.

angelcake99 · 03/07/2007 11:45

Gingeme I was diagnosed last time at 28 weeks and was given two different types of insulin to take, it wasn't that bad but could be a bit of a pian sometimes writing down all of my sugar levels before and after every meal. i agree with you about the GTT not particularly nice but thankfully over and done with in a morning or afternoon. I am eating healthily pretty much to try and manage it as much as possible as i was hoping to avoid an induction like last time, I was told it was because of the GD that I was induced at 38 weeks, and it was not nice!!! Anyway fingers crossed its all okay this time.

Sarahjct · 03/07/2007 12:38

Hi everyone

Thanks for the welcomes. I just wanted to see if everyone else was having as miserable time as me? My main problems are as follows.

If my stomach gets empty, I get sick, and the sickness lasts for the rest of the day, no matter how much I eat. But I'm rarely hungry, so I'm forcing down food that I don't want to stave off sickness. And worse than that, a handful of raisins or whatever doesn't do it for me so it's got to be a sandwich or something. It's driving me crazy!

But worst of all is the acid that plagues me. I've tried eating certain things, not eating certain things, Rennies, Tums and there's a bottle of Gaviscon on my desk that I can't bear to touch 'cos I hate medicine. I only seem to suffer from this during the week when I'm at my desk all day so I wondered if it was because I was sitting down all day (rather than sleeping, which is what I do at the weekends!).

Sorry for the long moan and for being so miserable but I am getting to the stage where I can't bear it anymore. The working day is a real struggle and I'm really finding it hard to cope although it sounds so trivial. I just wondered if anyone has any idea of anything I could take?

barristermum · 03/07/2007 12:43

Thanks for that angelcake - I think I might be quite a risk for GD as both Mum and Dad have diabetes and I am a big girl who does not exercise enough!

Pbirdy - I am with you on the way time seems to have speeded up and being much less obsessed - I haven't read a pg book for 4 days and at the start I was completely over-researching so feeling constantly stressed and low. Like PCM it was just dreadful reading people go so regularly and quickly on this thread. But I seem a little more zen at the mo' and hope to feel even more positive after scan on Thurs.

Naetha - poor you after just a little indulgence. Will ask for all the info on the Airedale.

Beller - I have actually lost 6 lbs! I think that's the effect of not drinking and maybe the constant nausea that has settled in the last couple of weeks. I certainly haven't been dieting - dh and I went for fabulous fish and chips at Toffs in Muswell Hill before going to Ocean's 13 last night (was it me or did Ellen Barkin look really ropey?)

Anyway in preparation for serious weight gain have just spent fortune on new suits and looser clothing in bigger sizes in local store very good for professional women. Nothing like retail therapy for keeping the mind buoyant!

Angechica · 03/07/2007 13:21

Re GD: I am not sure if it is related to normal diabetes. A friend of a friend had it and had 2 x C-sections because it means your babies although perfectly healthy, grow big.

Dear Sarah I am starting to feel better now you will too - please believe us, it will pass! Eating staved off my nausea but strangely have also had a huge appetite and put on loads of weight so I look 5ths gone with twins already.

I quit the cigs (for good, hurrah!) & booze to have this baby so that is probably another factor though!

Sarahjct · 03/07/2007 13:44

Thanks Angechica. I really hope so.

Just tried to swallow some Gaviscon and threw up all over my desk in front of everyone. I could die of embarrassment!

What's worse is that no one here bats an eyelid anymore...

beller · 03/07/2007 13:44

same here barristermum....i lost 6lbs in the beginning (weirdly just after the marathon),and still not back up to that weight, Like you i think its the not drinking and eating healthly...sure i will explode very shortly!

Sarahjct- sorry to hear your feeling so crap..I get headaches during the week as well, but seem to be ok at weekends?! Maybe we have developed allergy to work/

MamaMaiasaura · 03/07/2007 13:47

I had gestational diabetes with ds. Prior to preg with him was very slim. I ended up big for dates with ds and was diagnosed with GD. Had other complecations. Ds born by c-section 38 weeks 8lb12oz. He had to have his sugars checked regular for first 24/48 hours.

Was diet controlled.

barristermum · 03/07/2007 14:17

Poor Sarah - I find I feel sicker the day after a bad night's sleep - so early to bed and sleeping till I wake tends to lead to a better day - which isn't much help for me as I generally have to be up at 6 for work.

I also read somewhere that having porridge last thing at night helps because as it's slow-release energy it tides you over and you don't get empty and feel sick in the am. Lets hope it passes for you with the 1st trimester.

Naetha · 03/07/2007 14:21

SarahJCT - your sickness/eating habits sound exactly the same as mine - I find starchy foods do the trick - try eating a banana, or a packet of crisps. Also if you have trouble eating or drinking stuff because of the taste, try holding your nose while you eat/drink it. I can't taste a thing when I hold my nose and makes taking medicines MUCH easier!

If today wasn't my last day at work for 3 weeks I definitely would have sacked it off! Unfortunately I have loads of handover stuff to do (and shouldn't be on here now lol!) and had my pre-operative assessment today as well. Same as any other time I go see anyone medical, BP (low), weight (high), blood tests (surprised I have any left tbh) etc. The nurse was great though - very reassuring, she's had a couple of pregnant ladies in for gall bladder and appendix ops and they've all been fine.

Goingfor3 - yes I am having a GA for my op, but I think they're using a different one to normal. Will have a big long chat with the anaesthetist tomorrow morning.

Lol spelling anaesthetist reminds me of a dream I had last night (in the 2 hours of sleep I got) where they'd only operate if I could spell anaesthetist, gynaecologist, laparascopic cholecystectomy and loads of other medical terms! How bizarre is that!

MotherofZ · 03/07/2007 14:23

Hello all and congrats on the pregnancies. .
Thought I would come and 'gate-crash' a little; am due 30/12, so feel like I am on the bit on the boarder (already joined the Dec thread).
All the best with the rest of your pregnancy.

Naetha · 03/07/2007 14:24

Ooh just one other thing before I really settle down to do some work (no really - I do work!)

There's a petition to abolish the VAT on feminine sanitary wear. I know we don't use it at the moment, but its hardly classed as a luxury! If you think VAT should be abolished on pads and tampons, then sign the petition here:

petitions.pm.gov.uk/notaluxury/

Remember you have to click the link in the email for it to work.

beller · 03/07/2007 16:01

Good luck tomorrow Naetha!! will be thinking of you xx

Welcome motherofz- im end of dec too, so straddle both months! xx

Naetha · 03/07/2007 16:30

Welcome MotherofZ - you're date buddies with me

I occasionally flick to the Dec thread, but I find it hard enough keeping up with this one, let alone two!

barristermum · 03/07/2007 16:43

Good luck with op Naetha - all thinking of you and fingers crossed all goes well. xx
