mmmm love cucumber. Realy been craving sweet stuff though. Got some mega sweet grapes Saturday and theyve all gone. Got some home made cake from the fete and ate loads of that. Just had a muller corner which is tropical crunch and very sweet and yummy. Maybe a girl after all

LilyLoo · 02/07/2007 12:02

Gingme- my boobs are still a bit tender and sore, but not as bad as they were..15 weeks this week!

beller · 02/07/2007 12:53

welcome sarahjct!!! xx

MamaMaiasaura · 02/07/2007 13:07

goingfor3 - I keep feeling flutters in the evening. Dont know if baby or wind Am 14 weeks now.

I just got the post through Got my results

Estimated risk for

Trisomy 21 (Downs Syndrome) - my maternal age the risk is 1:500 but my adjusted risk is 1:7825

Trisomy 13/18 (Edwards and Patau's Syndrome) age risk is 1:945 but my adjusted risk is 1:18886

big relief as another hurdle overcome.

Naetha · 02/07/2007 13:29

Great news on the test results Awen! That reminds me I need to get mine organised - no news from MW yet so better get it sorted myself!

Welcome to Mumsnet SarahJCT - it feels like a big hurdle when you say that for the first time doesn't it! A bit like standing up and admitting your an alcoholic lol! (er obviously I have no experience of that!).

Got loads of birthdays this week - one gran's was on Saturday so she'll get a slightly belated card (she's 94!) my other gran is 85 on Wednesday, and then its my brother's 16th on Saturday. Me and my brother haven't always seen eye to eye (half siblings, haven't lived together for 10 years near enough) but are tentatively getting back in touch again. Is it lacking in imagination to stick a £20 note in his card? I don't usually get him anything, not too sure what he's into (well he's a 16 year old boy so I don't think I really want to know what he's into) and as he lives in deepest darkest Wales there's not much point in getting him vouchers or anything. I know I would have appreciated cash at his age!

Goingfor3 - this is my first so I'm not expecting to feel anything yet (14+2)but I am noticing lots of windy type feelings!

Sarahjct · 02/07/2007 14:09

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm now suffering from something extremely sad... result envy!

My risk after nuchal was 1:1203 which I gather is perfectly respectable and I was happy with that. But all yours are bigger numbers!

I'm only joking, I know how serious this all is and don't want to offend anyone.

MamaMaiasaura · 02/07/2007 14:11

not offended at all Just was panicking this morning about pains and stuf and getting this in the post seems such a good sign.

LilyLoo · 02/07/2007 14:13

Welcome Sarah.
The problem is there really is no way of knowing whether it is wind or movements i suppose so easy to dismiss it as the wind when it could probably be movements or vice versa. Prefer it when you can see the fist or foot sticking out then you have no mistakes

PBirdy · 02/07/2007 14:32

Hello All

I did not read all the weekend posts very carefully. So many to go through!

Welcome Sarah - congrats!

Beller - can you believe that Friday is 15 weeks!?!? It is unreal that we are heading fast towards the end of the 4th month! Well sort of, a few weeks to go I guess!

Awen - fab results babe - that must have been such wonderful news to receive. They are the best I have heard!

Naetha - I think money is a great present and I am stoked when I receive it, you can get whatever you want. And if he is 16, he is going to love it.

Feeling great today. I have gotten over the worse of my cold - oh dear, you just wait until that joy decends upon you and you can't take any drugs - such an ordeal. Morning sickness seems to have taken a massive back seat as well - still the odd dry retch but that is quite comforting in a way if you get what I mean.

I am envious of the flutters!!! I have felt nothing other than the usual aches and twinges which are just normal. I would love to feel flutters!

PBirdy x

Housemum · 02/07/2007 15:21

PBirdy - I keep trying to work out if I feel flutters or not - usually last thing at night when I lay quietly - but then I worry that I should be getting out of the habit of sleeping on my back and move so can't feel anything. Just have an uncomfortable "full" feeling today - like there is a large lump in the way (no way to refer to baby I know!) More stretching feelings as well - not cramps, but not comfortable. Roll on the proper baby movements! (and the test results - being an old bird pushing 40 I'm not expecting super high numbers but anything better than 1:250 would be a bonus!)

BeckyAu · 02/07/2007 16:12

PBirdy I'm even a little envious of you feeling full! I feel absolutely nothing! But yes roll on proper baby movements. I'm 38 and my results were 1:720 which the ladies here assure me is ok so fingers crossed for you.
I can only get to sleep on my back or front (and nearly always sleep all night on my front) so really must try to train myself to sleep on my side. Though is there any harm in sleeping on my front at the moment? I have no bump yet (only wine flab that's always there despite not drinking anymore )and I sort of think that surely nature will stop me sleeping like that when it becomes uncomfortable?

As we had our test results this morning (thanks for all your thoughts on this ladies - much appreciated) DH has at last sent out his email to friends with the scan picture. He's ever so proud bless him...

Naetha · 02/07/2007 16:12

Housemum I definitely know what you mean about there being a large lump there! If I squat down or bend over there definitely feels like there's something in the way!

Also think bean is right above my bladder as I keep on going to the loo, then as soon as I stand up I need to go a bit more - I sit down and nothing more comes out lol!

PBirdy · 02/07/2007 16:24

I can definitely feel a bump about just above my pubic bone. It is sort of hard - like muscle hard although in reality I have no stomache muscles at all. It is more of a "mass" than anything else for me. It feels nice though. It will be exciting to get a proper bump and proper movement. I think I get those stretching pains as well.

I am worried about the whole sleeping on the back thing. I have been making a conscious effort to sleep on my side but I always wake up on my back! Does it wake you up do you think if you are sleeping in the wrong position?

Naetha · 02/07/2007 17:26

I think the sleeping on your back / stomach thing is something you don't do when you're too big / big enough partly because its not comfortable!

I think the risk with lying on your back is that the bump presses on one of your main veins which reduces circulation to your legs. By the point that happens, its too uncomfortable to lie on your back anyway.

Thats what I've heard anyway!

barristermum · 02/07/2007 17:48

Naetha - that's what I heard too - also that it's helpful to get lots of pillows for under bump and between legs and by the time you are banked in and supported like that you probably can't sleep any other way.

On the Mrs McJnr front I have done some thread research - I cdn't find any posts saying how long her holiday was but she last posted on 14th June and then was going on holiday on 16th June. She has an obs appt on 5th July so may be back now? If so - Mrs McJnr did you have a lovely holiday and is all well - we are thinking good thoughts for you?

Awen - cracking test results, and likewise beckyau - 1 in 750 sounds more than manageable to me. We've decided not to do the tests - wdn't want to worry if they were bad and don't think I cd abort so wd rather just think positive thoughts.

Welcome Sarahjct - good to have another to share the angst with.

I have been craving egg and hula hoops today and now have terrible heartburn. Still that at leasts beats the violent retching I had at 6am today! Pregnancy - how glamorous!

barristermum · 02/07/2007 17:51

btw Naetha - we are coming up yout neck of the woods this weekend - husband is off-road biker and is doing a rally in Pickering so I am staying with GP friend near Bradford. Will remember to pump for info relevant to you - where had to plumped for in the end and if necessary cd you change at this stage?

Naetha · 02/07/2007 20:32

Ooh that would be great to get some insider info Barristermum!

I've gone for Airedale hospital over Bradford Royal Infirmary - although BRI is bigger and has a SBCU etc it seems the care is a lot less personal. Essentially, its an innercity hospital so they get a lot more people through there than at Airedale. Also Airedale is only a few miles from the Dales national park, and the maternity unit looks out over the hills lol - its the small things eh!

When I went there for my scan we actually went in early (which was a bit annoying really because I'd left my drinking a bit late so the picture wasn't the best - 20 minutes later I was busting for a pee!) and there was hardly anyone waiting at all - lovely after having to endure Leeds hospitals! It also looked very clean and modern and everyone was very friendly

Naetha · 02/07/2007 20:33

btw best of luck with the rally in Pickering!

It's so frustrating to have two bikes in the garage and not be able to bring myself to ride either of them!

gingeme · 02/07/2007 20:51

Neatha after youve finnished weeing try leaning forward as if your going to get off the loo then sit up straight again and a little more should come out. Try too empty your bladder fully or it could result in an infection. I speak from experience and its not nice.
Its gets more uncomfortable sleeping on your back when baby gets bigger as baby does press on your lungs so it will wake you up because you cant breathe.
Right thats my doctor bit over
Hope it helped a bit.

Naetha · 03/07/2007 03:09

Argh I gambled and lost! I had a chinese take away as a last nice meal before my op on wednesday, but it obviously had too much fat in it and I am really suffering the consequences now.

In extreme pain, can't sleep (duh - why else would I be here at 3am!) and really thinking the food just wasn't worth it! Added to that I feel sick as a pig and very sorry for myself.

I've taken a codeine pill, unfortunately there's nothing for me to do other than sit it out for the next 4 hours...which will be just in time for going to work!

Its times like this I'm so glad I'm going ahead with the op!

Anyway, apologies for rambling, just something to take my mind off it.
