MamaMaiasaura · 28/06/2007 21:59

harsh imo, hence my comments

LilyLoo · 28/06/2007 22:00

Thanks some pg solidarity

MamaMaiasaura · 28/06/2007 22:01

. Right off to get eastenders fix

plummymummy · 28/06/2007 22:48

Naetha - I weaned our cat off our bed when I became pg with ds as I didn't fancy 4 of us in the bed! Dh was pleased as he doesn't approve of pets on the bed. I now feel the same but I'm afraid she was a little spoiled back then. Anyway, all in all she took the new arrival fairly well but it was funny when he cried because she used to come running to find us and mioaw as if she was concerned about him. I noticed when I was pg she avoided me and seemed to bond with dh more. This time she has been clingy - no idea if that's significant.

Barristermum - sorry you're having a rough time. I felt very weepy yesterday too. Have been feeling depressed past week (and I don't use that word lightly, so things have to be bad for me to say it)but feel brighter today. Hope your hormones rearrange themselves in your favour soon

Gingeme - formula not provided at my local hospital either but I will prob breastfeed again anyway (oh god, the thought of it )

My aunt wore a white dress at my wedding and it didn't bother me at all. Tell em ter shove orf

Naetha · 28/06/2007 22:55

I'm being completely inept at the moment, so won't have a look at the style thread, but have you thought of dyeing the dress? I got married in a gorgeous monsoon wedding dress that isn't particularly weddingy (well if it wasn't cream anyway!) and although I haven't done it yet, I'm going to dye it a lovely blue colour so I can wear it to other events. I'm hoping I won't have to wear it as a wedding dress again lol!

plummymummy · 28/06/2007 23:11

Lovely dress. What about replacing the belt for a splash of colour - eg red. It's up to you what colour you go for obviously but silver might be too close to colour spectrum. Yellow is very trendy at the moment too. Then you can get shoes to match.

toomanyshoes · 28/06/2007 23:34

Hello, lovely to hear some happy scan news. Good luck to any that are coming up soon.

Lilyloo - i work as a fashion editor and I think the dress is fab and abslutely fine to wear to a wedding. As long as accessories are either colourful or black it won't look like a brides dress. Tell the stroppy madams on other thread to get stuffed. It's not like you were suggesting going in a bikini

Am off to bed now as knackered but just thought i'd check in for a quick catch up with all of your news and say hi x

beller · 29/06/2007 09:23

Morning All!
I still have a headache...5 days now...phoned the doctor yesturday, and missed her call back...might tray again today, although i dont think there is anything i can do that im not doing?!

Naetha- I feel the same about work at the moment. The desk I work on pretended to be ok when i told them the news...and then just a day later have been screaming obscenities and such across the desk ( not just at me) , and have ben more hormonal than me! Really hope I dont have another 5 months of this!

Baristermum- Sorry to hear about your day, thats dreadful news about your childminder, really do feel for you ( and her of course!). What did you do abotu last night?
hope youre ok x

Housemum - Phew...thought i was going mad hahahxx

Gingeme - Yes im going to breastfeed, well try at least...my hospital hasnt said anything to me about it yet?

Awen- Im going on a shopping trip tomorow, my tummy this week seems to have expanded at a rapid rate...havnt really put weight on, but definately have a small bump now! Have my normal jeans on today and they are not comfortable! Only clothes i have bought so far are linen trousers, and not good for this weather

I have been watching "home grown babies" this week, anyone here thinking of a home birth? How do you go about enquiring? Next midwife appt? Just looks really cool to be at home with home comforts etc, ... Although always the worry if something went wrong? Also anyone thinking of having a Doula...as my ex is very unliekly to be around, thinking maybe its a good idea?

Hope all is well xxxxxxxx

Housemum · 29/06/2007 09:29

Lilyloo - don't know if you would wear a dress any other time but I bought this from Bloming Marvellous to wear to a wedding in a couple of weeks - it doesn't scream "maternity" and I intend to wear it most of the summer when the weather improves (am hoping that I can get away with washing it on a delicate cycle rather than handwashing!)

Housemum · 29/06/2007 09:29

helps if I put the link in! Blooming Marvellous

Housemum · 29/06/2007 09:33

Beller - not thinking of a home birth myself but know people who rave about them - try calling your local NCT. Ours has a coffee morning every few weeks for a Homebirth Support Group - basically info about homebirth and the chance to talk to other mums who have done it. You do not have to be a member to go these sorts of group - there may be a donation pot to stick a quid in towards the coffee. As for the logistics, ask your MW at your next appointment.

beller · 29/06/2007 09:50

Cheers housemum- not sure, but would like to know more? way off yet..so have time to think....have been watching Living baby most evenings this week...maybe i should stop ! hahaha

beller · 29/06/2007 10:16

lilyloo- just read the style thread...some people were just sooooooooooo rude....
!

Naetha · 29/06/2007 10:35

I get the feeling that a home birth in a house with 3 cats would be a bad idea lol!

As it is their cat hair gets everywhere - open a brand new pack of whatever - usually food and there's almost always a cat hair on it!

I'm convinced bean will be born, and s/he'll have a couple of cat hairs on her too!

Btw can anyone tell me when I should next hear from my midwife/PCT? I had my scan on the 15th June, and haven't had any contact since then - do I need to contact the midwife to find out the next step, or will I get a letter through the post? Lots of people seem to be getting the dates for second scans already, but I haven't heard a peep!

Also, I know we haven't really covered location at all, but is anyone in the Bradford/Skipton area? I've gone for the Airedale hospital - heard too many scare stories about Bradford Royal Infirmary!

nicky6 · 29/06/2007 11:21

Barrister mum - poor you - the whole drinking culture in chambers is a tricky one - the one i have used with most ease with my chambers is that i have to pick the car up on the way back or dh's car so cant. Or loads of prep today - cant do it drunk.

I had to argue in front of costs committee and had put one of my favourite suits on but during course of day found trousers just too tight and ended up keeping them up with a paper clip - really doesnt make you feel the most professional of people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Angechica · 29/06/2007 11:23

Naetha I was given a list of appointments and told that after the scan I have to ring myself and make my next appointment for 16 weeks, because the scan would define when that should be.

Still hazy about my own dates. My dating scan has come through for 17 July which I am really cross about - seems like ages to wait! That will be 15 weeks by my dates and 13 by the midwife's.

I'm in Northumberland and my trust seems a bit crap - no nuchal scan offered just blood tests.

katyt1 · 29/06/2007 11:34

hi, i had a home birth with 2 cats, with ds, no probs.
at one point, one of them was sleeping on the sofa in the kitchen whilst i was in the pool labouring away!
i felt like saying, hey, i'm working hard here and you're just sleeping and washing yourself!
after i had tom, both of them brought in a little pressie too that night, aww sweet, not!

the midwives didn't say anything about the cats, keeping them out or whatever.
beller - def ask your midwife next visit.

tho it really depends on your area, they are v keen here but not so everywhere.

the formula thing in hosp - they don't offer it here anymore either.

re white dress to wedding - it def depends on the style of dress, my sisters mil-to-be wore a white lacy dress to her wedding and it looked well weird. your dress doesn't so i would say go for it + colourful accessories. ignore all the moaners!

re appts, my m/w said she wouldn't see me until 16 weeks and i made an appt then.

right, dh off work today so he's helping out today, i'm still knackered and done my neck in so can't lift ds up, boo.
better go and get a custard cream, feeling icky.

gingeme · 29/06/2007 11:50

Neatha we recently re homed our cat for that reason well apart from the fact my 8 month old thought he was a moving toy and had great fun trying to pull his rather long fur out. The cat was with me when I had my home birth though we did shut him in the kitchen as he would have probably tried to sit on me.
Home births are brill though Im opting for a water birth in hospital again this time as I had with ds3. That was brill too. If you can call labour brill.
Not feeling too icky today. Hope its starting to pass a bit now.
Beller I want to become a doula. That was my plan before I fell preg again this time. Would love love to be a midwife but its too much studying. Ive put a few feelers out but will have to wait a few years yet.
Well I hope you all have a good weekend. x

beller · 29/06/2007 11:51

naetha- they gave me my 16 week appt when i went for dating scan..and i got my 20 week scan thru the post...hope that helps? maybe call if not sure?
Katy1- thanks will do x

MamaMaiasaura · 29/06/2007 12:17

Afternoon ladies.. I think (fingers x'd) that morning sickness has gone day 3 now. Beller - have come back from shops after trying on huge bra (34H) and put it back deciding that I could keep to mine for a bit longer as still fit and will get new ones as late as possible. Only went ot mothercare and didnt feel motivated to go to other shops. Looped hairband through jeans button and it seem to be working

Has anyone heard from MrsMcJnr? She hasnt been around for ages.

wuzzlefraggle · 29/06/2007 12:24

sorry to crash ladies

i just wanted to check that all is well with Jenswish and Pussycatmomma...hi both (hi gingeme lol) any updates?

congrats everyone too

plummymummy · 29/06/2007 12:27
