Oh my! I am defo in the 'no chance' camp! Nappies all the way for me x

twiglet · 24/09/2018 07:49

I've started going to pregnancy yoga finding it really helps with back ache and my hips as my posture is getting better.
I was a bit sceptical at first it's also tougher then I thought!

AliceRR · 24/09/2018 08:12

Thanks ladies.

@Twiglet I really enjoyed preg yoga for the two sessions I had until the instructor went off to have her baby! I found it quite good, I think it really would help strengthen everything and help with flexibility. The group were lovely too. There’s another one I can try so might give it a go. Instructor I went to is supposed to be back at work in November and then shes doing baby yoga

There’s preg pilates near me too so might the that

powkin · 24/09/2018 09:23

Glad I’m not the only one feeling a teensy bit grouchy! We’ve decided to call the moods ‘grouchy trout’ as a way of making it a bit sillier at home. Because that’s not weird at all...

Went to bed really early and woke up absolutely exhausted! Didn’t even have a busy weekend. I thought this was meant to be the wonderful magical time where we all skip through autumnal woods holding hands, feeling vibrant and full of energy and sharing our smug maternal glow with everyone?

powkin · 24/09/2018 09:32

If anyone knows of any affordable pregnancy Pilates in Hackney/Tower Hamlets/Newham/east London I’d appreciate it! Not entirely sure when it is I’d find the time to go but if there’s one that doesn’t cost a bomb that would be a start.

Celebelly · 24/09/2018 10:00

Is anyone starting to notice patterns in movement yet?

Our little girl is always sluggish in the mornings (I wonder where she gets that from) until I have my breakfast, then we get a little bout of spins and whirls. Then it's on and off during day with another little party after dinner and at bedtime.

I've deduced that she likes food :-D

Since2016 · 24/09/2018 10:06

No proper movement here yet. Just as someone said earlier - small kicks and tightness as baby turns like the way you feel later in pregnancy. It’s really worrying me tbh. I had visible outer movement that DH could feel at this stage last time and I am really worrying about it.

Re Pilates. Can’t help really as we’re in Enfield but my pregnancy yoga is £45 for 5 weeks as a comparator x

Baby160P · 24/09/2018 10:36

@powkin that made me laugh!

No skipping through the autumn woods here just congestion all night causing a wonderful migraine today. Kids off with sickness bug too 🙌🏽 just what I need to catch!

powkin · 24/09/2018 10:50

@Since2016 - I’m not really sure if I’m feeling things. I’m 18+3. I can certain feel something but it’s hard to really distinguish if it’s the baby or just random pains/uncomfortable feelings. I’ve started to guess it’s the baby! I don’t know what I’m meant to be feeling so hard for me to know what’s what. I’ve also have chronic pain so used to ignoring strange sensations!

Surprisedmom · 24/09/2018 11:16

@Celebelly apparently cold drinks/chocolate get the baby moving, I think in general food gets them going as they get some too but also because they can hear our digestion so I think all the noises probably wake them up some.

@Since2016 I would say from your description that you are feeling movement so not to worry. There’s been some talk on here about placenta location, so if yours is in a different place to your last baby I think the movements can feel quite different. Or perhaps this baby is just less kicky?

Alicejj8x · 24/09/2018 12:12

Defo feeling things which I imagine is baby
A few pokes here and there and bubbling motions inside lol
18+5 so I imagine it's baby but on two of my private scan notes it did say anterior placenta

Alicejj8x · 24/09/2018 13:30

What can I take for a cold? Just paracetamol

Lookingforadvice123 · 24/09/2018 13:47

I'm soooo irritable, everything annoys me, I'm usually reasonably chilled out too!

I'm feeling enough movement to stop me from panicking (a few times a day, but mainly when I first lie down in bed at night - Saturday night I had three strong ones in the same place) but it doesn't seem to be much. I'll go all day and realise I haven't felt anything, or haven't felt much. I can't remember at what stage I was feeling loads with DS (I'm 18+5 now), I think definitely by 23 weeks I was feeling it regularly throughout the day, although there was never a pattern in my whole pregnancy!

I'm going to (hopefully) be more laid back about movements now as I spent countless evenings in the MAU on a trace last pregnancy, just because I would worry so much if I hadn't felt him in 20 mins. This time, if you have 3 episodes of being monitored, they automatically put you consultant lead which I really don't want. A friend who had a baby in July told me this, it's a new policy (wasn't the case when I had ds) so lanalawr be warned, if you're hoping to be midwife learn

Lookingforadvice123 · 24/09/2018 13:47

*lead not learn!

Celebelly · 24/09/2018 14:04

I've only started feeling regular movement last few days, and I'm 20+2 now. From about 18 weeks I felt sensations that I weren't sure were movements, but now they're stronger I'm sure that's what they were. My placenta isn't anterior tho.

Celebelly · 24/09/2018 14:05

(And by regular I mean that I'm aware of them happening throughout the day, not that they are happening always at the same time, etc. although there are some slight patterns)

AliceRR · 24/09/2018 14:16

Does anyone know how may leave works when you get some enhanced pay from your employer? DH and I have different understanding of it.

Gov website says SMP for up to 39 weeks and first 6 week’s are at 90% and then 90% or £146/pw whichever is lower.

My work pays 3 month full and then 3 month half.

I think that means I get 3 month full pay, 3 month half pay and then statutory for only 3 months. I’m not even 100% sure I’d get the 6 week’s at 90% given I’d have had enhanced pay earlier on?

DH thinks I would get SMP for the full six months including the 6 months at 90% because the 39 week entitlement would start after my firm mat pay ends.

Does anyone know?

I’m trying to budget for when I’m on leave

Celebelly · 24/09/2018 14:26

I think you're right, Alice, not your DH (sadly, as that would be a much better deal!). It's most likely that your work will claim back the SMP portion of what they pay you and then add their own cash to it to make up the enhanced, so the first six months will still be SMP (just with the added money on top). You could check with them if that's the case.

twiglet · 24/09/2018 15:03

@Alicerr your stat will be included in your first 6 months but you won't see it (so it won't be on top of your salary) your work will be claiming it back though.
So sadly your DH is not correct!

Notquiteagandt · 24/09/2018 16:15

Poor dogs just got fright of his life. Was cuddled up on me. My little shaddow at the moment. When I felt the baby really move. He must of felt it to. Because he lept off me looking really confused and discusted then kept tapping my stomach. 😂😂😂Reassuring as I felt baby move really early on. Then felt like it had died down. Well today feel like I have swollowed a bag of eels 😂😂😂

Surprisedmom · 24/09/2018 16:52

@Alicejj8x for a cold, other than paracetamol you can use saline nasal sprays and if you have a sore through lots of honey and lemon (in tea if you like)

lanalawr · 24/09/2018 17:29

Thanks @Lookingforadvice123 I am midwife led and would like to stay that way! They threatened consultant led with me last time after two episodes on the trace but I had an extra scan and everything looked fine so I was able to stay midwife led.
@AliceRR I also think you're right, although check your half pay section (mine is half pay plus SMP for that portion of time but it's made clear in our policy).

AliceRR · 24/09/2018 17:38

@lanawr thanks I will check!

Lookingforadvice123 · 24/09/2018 17:46

Really lanalawr! I went in SO many times last time and never once did they mention being consultant lead. That was 3 years ago though!
