I'm 18 weeks today woohoo!
The bump is something else lol I feel
Huge.

My question to any of you who have their belly button pierced. When do you think I should take it out or should I leave it in & buy the pregnancy belly bars?

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 19/09/2018 20:43

I have a pregnancy bar.. although, I bought it in my first pregnancy, I’m now on my third (successful) pregnancy and it’s still new in the wrapper.. I’ve always just kept my normal bar in 🤷🏻‍♀️

powkin · 19/09/2018 21:15

My bbhugme pillow arrived today! I got it cheap on their website in a minging “sand” colour as it was being discontinued (imagine a nana stocking colour) but it is AMAZINGLY! Was telling myself off for spending what seemed like frivolous money but I’m sitting in it on the sofa and almost instantaneously I felt calm and relaxed and happy! iPad resting on it and arms on the side, lovely!

Time to do my physio whilst I watch diysos!

powkin · 19/09/2018 21:17

Amazing* when will mumsnet get an edit function?!

AliceRR · 19/09/2018 21:45

@Since2016 I have chosen to have baby in a different city to the one I live in so have all scans, booking in, consultant appointments and will have the diabetes test at the hospital and then other MW appointments are at my local surgery... It’s handy in a way to have two points of contact...

@Alicejj8x Personally I just took my belly piercing out pretty much the day after I found out I was pregnant and thought I would take the opportunity to let it close up

Lulabell1 · 19/09/2018 22:08

Iv had my letter for my GD test appointment already says what to eat what not to eat day before ect. I never had it with DD though wonder why this time

Since2016 · 19/09/2018 22:14

@lulubell1 I didn’t have it last time either but think it’s standard now? Hoping I can arrange childcare as I’m not thrilled about the prospect of having DD with me!!!

Yakadee · 19/09/2018 22:23

I'm having this test too but my letter just said to fast and nothing more! Curious what it says you shouldn't / should have the day before? X

DeliberatelyGinger · 19/09/2018 23:19

I thought I was getting lucky as my scan date is at 19 weeks but it turns out it's probably in the wrong unit. I was supposed to be referred to the consultant due to having IVF and the baby having a 50% chance of having a hereditary blood disorder but it wasn't done.just waiting for the consultants appointment now and to see if they will rearrange the scan Sad

Fredthespider · 20/09/2018 06:45

@AliceRR I’ve got pelvic pain too, I’ve had it for about 6 weeks now! Some days are worse than others, yesterday was particularly bad 😔 I waddle like I’m 8 months gone so I hate to think how bad it’s going to get!

Baby160P · 20/09/2018 07:29

Does anyone have a tender abdomen to touch? I assume it because of the stretching as bump has got bigger this week.....

UndercoverLauren · 20/09/2018 07:36

@DragonFlew Yes to hair loss. I'm telling myself it's because I don't need to wash my hair as much, so the loose ones build up. Doesn't explain the amount on my comb though...

@AliceRR I'm still wearing my regular pyjamas, but my belly's poking out now. I was making a fried breakfast this weekend and ended up splattering hot fat on my bump X( I think I need to wear something else.

AliceRR · 20/09/2018 08:10

@Fredthespider Same! I’ve had it at least 4 weeks, probably more, feel like I already can’t walk probably and can’t help but think it will get worse! I’ve read it’s good to stay active but not do anything that hurts... well walking hurts so not sure what I can really do

Have you spoken to MW or anyone about it? I plan to ask next appointment

@UndercoverLauren! Ha! Oh dear! I Lien pyjamas (I have loads) but might just get a nice cosy pair for winter and wear my preg joggers the rest of the time. I have a onesie that still fits me too which is quite nice to lounge around in!

Lookingforadvice123 · 20/09/2018 08:18

About the GD test, no it's not standard as far as I'm aware? Not in Wales anyway, I won't be having it. And the only people I know who have it have risk factors (eg a friend of mine's dad has Type 2 diabetes which is classed as a risk).

Yakadee · 20/09/2018 08:59

For those of you who have had private scans to find out what baby is, did you find 3D or 4D better? I'm thrilled to have either of course but after finding out 'it looks like a girl' we're hoping to try and get some confirmation. I know of course it's never 100% but wondering which of these scans might be better for trying to find out? Xxx

Fredthespider · 20/09/2018 09:00

@AliceRR I've not spoken to the MW yet. It comes and goes, but if it gets as bad as yesterday then I might have to. I've done a lot of driving the last couple days so I think that's aggravated it.

I think the GD test is only if you're classed as high risk -

your body mass index (BMI) is above 30

you previously had a baby who weighed 4.5kg (10lbs) or more at birth

you had gestational diabetes in a previous pregnancy

one of your parents or siblings has diabetes

your family origins are south Asian, Chinese, African-Caribbean or Middle Eastern

lanalawr · 20/09/2018 09:22

@Lookingforadvice123 I haven't been told I need the GD test either and didn't have it last time. I didn't realise so many people had the test! I thought it was just if you had risk factors in your family or sugar in your urine.

Any advice on nice maternity pjs? Ideally ones that would be easy to feed in too. I've got one normal pair that still fits and nighties are fine but they'll be cold in the winter/spring. All these things that you don't need to think about with summer borns!

Since2016 · 20/09/2018 09:28

Interesting re the GD. I fit none of those criteria - although DD was 9 11 at birth so almost 10 pounds. I’ve been referred as I had such awful swelling in my last pregnancy and on talking to friends, everyone I know has had it recently - no one fits that criteria either. Although the initial bloods suggest it’s clear so I’m hopeful it will be all clear anyway.

Since2016 · 20/09/2018 09:29

Although it may also be trust policy?

Lulabell1 · 20/09/2018 10:50

Me and the girl at work dont fit any of them categories so it must be they are giving it to everyone maybe over here? Ill upload a picture of the foods @since

DuchieBlonde · 20/09/2018 15:31

We moved to Amsterdam from London last year so trying to navigate pregnancy here but seems to be routine that everyone gets the glucose test where they test your blood again after an hour and you don’t need to fast before. Then if anything shows on that test, have to have the longer 3 hour fasted test. Still don’t understand which one is called what, but think the one hour one will be at around 24 weeks. Need to ask at my 20 week appointment next week. Not looking forward to having to drink the drink, have heard it’s terrible 😬.
Everyone also gets a scan at 26 weeks and 30 something weeks. You have to have private health insurance here, so think that must be why? Won’t complain because it’s an extra two chances to see the baby.

DragonFlew · 20/09/2018 17:44

Can anyone help with the Chicco Next to Me crib?
My bed is 44cm from the ground but to the top of the mattress from the ground is 64cm.
Now the Chicco says it fits beds between 35-52cm - does that mean to the top of the bed or top of the mattress?

As I know they're meant to be in line with no difference between the two mattresses for safety reasons. I don't want to spend £200 on the crib if it's not suitable for my high bed! Anyone know?

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 20/09/2018 18:36

I thought those cribs were meant to be slightly lower than the beds mattress?
But I’m only going by what I’ve seen on adverts tbh..
I’m planning on getting one (not necessarily chicco) so will be interested to see the answers!

DragonFlew · 20/09/2018 19:07

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking apparently - and this is only from what I've read - they are meant to be in line because the baby could roll and press it's face up against your mattress and suffocate. Or if it's head moves on to your mattress and it's higher, then baby's airway would be compressed.
But I'm not sure what is true and now im questioning whether they're safe. And I was really keen to get one as I co-slept with my first 2 and think this is safer.

AliceRR · 20/09/2018 19:17

@dragonflew @notasgreenascabbagelooking I’m keen on one of those types of cribs as well so interested in any info on these. I quite liked the snuzpod2 which I think is similar

I liked the
