Thought I'd get the new thread started as no one objected to my title suggestion

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dal21 · 27/06/2007 14:32

Muppet - I got heated too by the sweeping statements...tried to get involved by asking (what i thought) were reasonable questions - but they got misinterpreted (apparently only people who have money drive 4 by 4's - not what i said, but what it was interpreted into) and quite frankly couldnt be bothered trying to explain myself or to counter the viewpoints.

Have retreated to safety where people are respectful and nice!

I know now never to try again. Only discovered the AIBU thread yesterday (didnt realise what it stood for before) and blimey it is an eye opener!

Sorry that you are worried about your measurements, please dont worry too much. am sure the bub is fine! From my understanding the only time this becomes an issue is if they think you are overdue (and you dont) and the question of when to induce comes into play. You never know, baby could be right on time, so inducing wont even come up!

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 14:40

Thanks dal21
the 4x4 thread was getting ridiculous!!
I find that the bash certain types of people and when you try to explain your point of view they start to bash you!!

As to dates I'm jsut starting to get anxious because I feel I need a date to work to and I can't seem to get the the 'professionals' to understand that I had bad pnd and need to have some control over a very out of control situation.

Are definately considering asking for a c-section/planned induction to give me back some control. (plus they would definately have to work out proper dates then!!)

MrsFish · 27/06/2007 14:41

That's why I stay away from those types of threads

designerbaby · 27/06/2007 14:42

Ooooh... Bags..

Bags are required for carrying lots of extra stuff (that we pregnant ladies need) around, right?

Like bottles of Gaviscon, spare undies (TMI?) flip flops (in case the wedges hurt feet) pregnancy books (research, therefore virtuous)and chocolate.

Therefore also in the domain of 'necessary and practical' rather than 'frivolous and expensive'.

Nearly spent £70 on one today, except was alteady feeling a bit of (completely unfounded) guilt about the LK Bennet & M&Ps purchases.

I'm sure I'll be over it tomorrow though, so may go back for another look...

Mulberry though! Someone's a lucky girl...

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 14:45

I've been secretly adding up dh's spendage on running gear, x-box games and such like.
...will tell you all how pitch to get bag went soon

nellieloula · 27/06/2007 14:49

I tried that once and my DH said I could have a new bag if I threw an old one away!!!?? Someone clearly didn't understand - if you don't get the mulberry, Next (of all places) does good mulberry-esque bags at a fraction of the price (that's not really the point though, I know!) A good bag is an investment for us pregnant mums- You could always add the money you would save on the endless changing bags you would buy to make up for the lack of mulberry to your running gear list!

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 14:52

I don;t know where this facination fro hanbags comes from? I never used to be like this but since ds1 came along I literally drool over gorgeous leather handbags....

My best friend is into shoes and doesn;t have kids yet so god knows what she'll be like!!

dal21 · 27/06/2007 14:55

Defo let us know how the pitch goes....mulberry have some lush bags in...i drool whenever i walk past the shop window!

can you get the consultant and midwife into the room together to discuss the dates and their conflicting opinions? are they based at the same place?

shame though that the extreme opinions and 'bashing' prevents so many people from posting. surely that goes against the grain of what a chatroom is about?

MrsFish · 27/06/2007 15:00

I must be weird as I am not bothered about shoes or handbags... I do buy a lot of clothes though, and get fed up of them just as quickly.

ejt1764 · 27/06/2007 15:10

HMP ? perhaps it was you I was thinking about when I thought of teachers? It?s ejb who is the brummie, not me! I live just outside Cardiff ? by the sea (!) - although I grew up in Birmingham, I?ve lived in Wales for longer than I lived in Brum!

I think we could get the midwives to do a poo dance for us if we do one while we?re in labour ?. Just a thought

Dal21 ? hi and welcome! I have read a lot of threads where Xenia posts ? I tend not to post anything, as I figure that although I know she?s wrong about a lot of things, I just cannot be bothered to try to convince her of the fact!

J20 ? hope you car gets sorted out!

Muppetgirl ? can?t help but giggle as I imagine you in your pimp wagon ? as you get more pg ? it?ll somewhat spoil the effect having a huffing puffing lady getting out of it!
As for your dates, it?s a bit complex ? they say that the most reliable dating scans are done between 8 and 11 weeks ? before or after that gets less reliable as time goes on. I?ve thrown a bit of a wobbly about my dates as I knew when I ovulated ? and for madam bean to have been conceived when they tried to change my dates to, would have meant an immaculate conception iykwim! Anyway, that?s probably of no help to you at all, but if you think there are some problms with your dates, then you need to make a fuss ? and a mw, experienced though she is, cannot measure that accurately!

Polarmummy ? you rant away girl ? the person in life who p!sses me off almost as much as my mil is my sister too ? at the moment she?s being the most tactless person you could imagine ? telling me that I?m waddling, then laughing as I have to crawl up the stairs as I?m in so much pain! She?s quite severely physically disabled herself, and knows what chronic pain is like ? I never_ laugh at her when she is suffering ? sorry, am very with her at the moment.
I think I will join you on the AIBU thread, just to vent!

Nellie ? I?ve only just starting feeling the whole somersaulty thing going on ? and I?m 26 weeks now ? I think you start to feel the kicks more when they start running out of room to move, and have to make more of an effort to move ?

Inzi ? hope your sil is ok.

Designerbaby ? glad your appointment with the mw was positive! Buying shoes is never gratuitous ? it?s good for your mental wellbeing!

My news ? I?ll be brief ? I went for my 1st hydro session this morning ? it was bliss - water at bath temperature, and gentle exercises which really stretched my pelvis ? it?s hurting now, and I?m knackered, but I feel as though it?s a ?good? pain iykwim ? I?ve also found out that I?m entitled to all sorts of things after madam bean arrives ? I?ll get 5 days inpatient physio (if I?m in that long ? it wasn?t part of my plan tbh!), I also get care at home to help me with coping with the stairs and stuff, and I?ll get physio sessions to help with the spd for up to 4 months after the birth ? if I?m still having problems after that, they?ll still help, but not under the maternity banner. Absolutely fab! It was so nice to talk to other women who have the same problems ? one of the ladies also has coccyx problems (also from a sports accident!), but she doesn?t have the spd as well ? I was the only one there on crutches! I was also the least pg ? but quite a long way!
Anyhoo ? feeling very positive ? but tired, so am going to catch some zzzzzzzzzzzz

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 16:40

Ejt -really pleased you have planned support for your spd -sounds excrutiating and thanks for the advive re dates

Are currently watching the magic roundabout and contemplating getting up to make that spag bol I said I would...

oh and -does anyone want a jack russell 1yr puppy? Mine weed on my sofa and cushion and, now this is the best bit, chewed through my hover cable.

ARGH....[angry}

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 16:41

..anyone from around the swindon/wiltshire area?

Mumpbump · 27/06/2007 16:42

Hello all! Not even going to try to catch up with everyone today...

Re: bags, there is a lovely oioi changing bag in the For Sale section. £42! I would love it, but can't really justify the expense at the moment.

Bit tired today as dh and I went to the pub last night - neighbours babysat - so I didn't get to bed until 23h. Dh made me a salady dinner which I really didn't fancy, but he's trying to make me feel cared for after I had a massive go at him at the weekend about how he never did anything to make me personally feel special, although he does lots for our joint benefit/benefit of our family. So had to stay up to eat it!! Still, it's lovely that he's trying...

alicet · 27/06/2007 17:37

Ooohh bags and shoes!!!!! Better than angel delight!!! I bought a gorgeous oioi change bag on ebay recently for £30 and ts as good as new! The lovely one with black and white flowers and a red lining! Lush!

ejt all the support for you and your spd sounds fantastic. The NHS isn't all bad!!!

muppetgirl you sound like todays appointment with your midwife has made things worse not better. Not what you needed! I would amke another appointment - either with your consultant or your midwife whoever you feel you have the best relationship with. And I second ejt that the early scan where they dated your baby is the most accurate as lots of other factors influence their size after the first trimester. Dating scans get less accurate as you progress further on.

Inzi glad appointment went well!

OK so I am 90% sure these messages have been posted to the right people but please forgive if you have been muddled up! Sorry to anyone I have missed out....

Off to give ds his tea now but will prob be back later for a smirk at AIBU and a chat. Hope the rest of you are well...

Plus.... Has anyone heard from greedy as she was a bit upset last time I saw her on here I think?

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 17:40

Not heard of oioi.
...am off to check out

MrsFish · 27/06/2007 17:49

Just checked it out myself

Can't justify one, as have already bought a bag this one its got a funky pink flower pattern inside

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 17:56

I quite like all these different change bags..they didn;t seem to be around when ds1 was born. (or was I just tooooo knackered to see?)

alicet · 27/06/2007 18:23

I like that bag MrsFish!

I had a fab one by great expectations with ds1 that folded out into a change mat with pockets on each side to put stuff in. Was fab and organised and meant that I could change him easily anywhere. However don't think there is enough room for stuff for 2! Hence treating myself to the oioi one.

At the moment I have a change wallet by great expectations that is tiny and can strap to the stroller handle that also contains a change mat but only has room for a couple of nappies. All we need to go out with ds1 at the mo though!

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 18:31

I don't have a baby bag as ds is 3 and cos of my pnd I was quite irrational and sold everything. (Yep, even the change bag!)
Will have a look at great expectations too thanks alice

designerbaby · 27/06/2007 18:35

Change bags?

Oh, I'm SOOO not there yet - still only fantasizing about handbags - going to enjoy accessorizing BEFORE I have to consider whether it's big enough for a multi-pack of pampers and wipes...

Call me selfish...

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 18:40

What's the most expensive item anyone of you has purchased from ebay?

-What's the weirdest.[grin}

ejt1764 · 27/06/2007 18:49

most expensive - a piano .... probably also the wierdest!

Most expensive; Teak garden furniture.... £800 + £50 delivery..worried outselves stupid incase we had bought stained pine or something..but it was fab..seats 10! Just need a sunshade to fit it and the weather to actually use it !
Wierdest? well dh is always buying circuit boards for the computer and other stuff that is equally geeky and wierd to me (especially when it doesnt work!) but for me the birdfeeder in the shape of a bullrush was a bit wierd but it blends in with the garden and the birds love it and only cost £2.50 or something

OP posts:
alicet · 27/06/2007 18:53

Most expensive a Jane Powertrack 360 and matrix carseat that I wanted for ds1 only to discover that the carseat didn't fit in our car! So resold it actually at a profit!!!

Wierdest - nothing very strange. A few beautiful vintage 50's dresses, jewellery making stuff to make earrings and necklaces for my bridesmaids (they looked shite so I binned them!!!), not sure anything very wierd!
