Thought I'd get the new thread started as no one objected to my title suggestion

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
j20baby · 26/06/2007 22:03

right had to post that then come back on because i couldn't remember who said what!

polar-feel free to vent, thats what we're here for, i have'nt got a sister, but most of my family infuriate me (esp sil, stuck up cow), have a big hug

nellie, i'm getting quite violent movements at 26 weeks, but they where nowhere near as noticable at 22 weeks, more fluttery movements, also your lo could be kicking you in the back, so you won't feel it. and i think its about 28 weeks when it should be 10 movements. hth

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 22:12

Can I just ask
could any of your dh/p's feel the baby's movements at 21 (or I could be 23) weeks?
Mine can so this makes me think I am further towards 23 than 21.

j20baby · 26/06/2007 22:18

muppetgirl, you really should have joined us earlier in your pg was feeling mine from about 14 weeks, i think a lot of people where

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 22:20

no i mean when dh puts his hand on my tummy he feels the baby kick

Sorry i think i've confused people

j20baby · 26/06/2007 22:23

oops sorry, didn't read properly, yes other people have been feeling it from about 20 weeks, and actually she did boot me really hard one day when i was about 15 weeks and my friend felt it, but that was just weird! don't know about your dates though, whats your gut feeling?

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 22:26

i always thought 3rd week oct and first scan (at 4 weeks) said 27th.
I am rather big as i was with ds1. I'm already getting people saying 'not long now' etc. They look amazed when i say 'actually i've got just under 4 months to go!

j20baby · 26/06/2007 22:28

well people have only just started noticing mine in the last few weeks, and with this stupid rain i have to wear a coat and people can't tell!

did you say your going for another scan to confirm dates?

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 22:30

yep, 3 weeks but seeing m/w tomorrow and are going to bend her ear with all my questions

PolarMummy · 26/06/2007 22:34

Thanks girls could rant for hours but to be honest I don't think it would really do me any further good Usually I can cope with our relationship but sometimes it really just gets to me!

Think I will go and start an AIBU thread about wanting to beat some sense and thought for others into my sister. Don't think it will be anywhere near as funny as the Merc thread though!

Mind you I might just hang around here as some of the earlier posts could be taken in all sorts of ways, I thought I had wandered into the wrong thread for a moment

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 22:37

polarmummy -try the 4 x 4 thread. It's starting to get ridiculous!

j20baby · 26/06/2007 22:39

polarmummmy, get a good nights sleep, maybe she won't affect you so much if your not tired, i must admit, i posted one about my brother earlier

well, i'm going to have to go for a bath and to bed, have a nice night girls

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 22:46

night all

PolarMummy · 26/06/2007 22:46

J20 thanks for the sentiment but unfortunately I know a good nights sleep wont make this one any better

Muppetgirl I might just head over to the 4x4 thread I could use a giggle.

I have just felt the LO kick from the outside for the first time pity DH wasn't here. Strange to say but somehow it feels more real from the outside

j20baby · 26/06/2007 22:50

polar - sending hugs to you.

re feeling movement from the outside, great isn't it

and if you need cheering up, just have a look at the AIBU threads

j20baby · 26/06/2007 22:52

ooo try the cat poo one

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 08:10

Morning all

nellieloula · 27/06/2007 08:17

Hi muppetgirl. how are you doing? We thankfully had a better night sleep (DS woke at 4 again but managed to doze off until 4.30 and then repeated that until 6!! - still, better than the last few days so can't complain!)hope you had a good night - we're off to town now to so will catch up later - have a good morning everyone

FloriaTosca · 27/06/2007 10:17

HMP;I have been using my doppler from 15 weeks but admit it took some getting used to (esp that early..I often frightened myself witless!!!) Make sure the battery is well charged (mistake no 1 I think for me!), have the volume up high (mine needs to be held up continuously or just returns to normal level), lying down flat is essential, use LOTS of gel, start just below your navel (I now just prod about with my fingers and feel where the baby is lying and put the probe on where I think the body is) and SLOWLY, VERY SLOWLY circle it round the navel making the passes wider each time, and stop and wait a while whenever you think you hear something (other than the scratching of the probe on your skin)...The echo gets stronger the longer you wait...When the probe is still and you are getting some sound; swooshing noises are baby moving/swimming, loud steady heart beat is probably yours (check your pulse to see if it matches), swishy heart beat is the placenta but the fast heart beat that can dissapear or get stronger as the baby moves is your little one. My LO seems to run away from the probe and has been known to kick it off when it didnt want to be disturbed!(is this a portent of the future teenager I wonder?) And do NOT panic if you dont hear anything on the first few attempts!!!! I used it to relieve my anxiety when I was having some of my fearful days earlier on but more often now he/she is regularly kicking, just when LO is having a rest day and I start to get worried...It is either worth its weight in gold or a blooming curse depending on how easy it is to get the heart beat! But when you do get the hang of it..ENJOY!!!!

have the day off today so have feet propped up and am browsin mn. another hilarious thread on 4 by 4 drivers......

here

am LOL! tis a scary world on MN! thought i would share.

alicet · 27/06/2007 12:25

Sorry to hear you're feeling stressed out with your sister polar. Hope it all seems better this am. And feel free to rant whenever!!

Dh off work today so have had a really great morning starting with a lie in and then playing with ds. he has so much personality now it's great!

nellie can I ask why you are having another dating scan? My understanding is that these are more accurate the earlier they are as after that the baby's size depends on so many other factors. Good news about mw appt though and make sure you go through everything that has been concerning you.

big wave to everyone else - hope you're having a good day! x

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 12:50

Hi dal21
Unfortunately I got over heated by the 4x4 debate. So i've decided to head on back to the safe thread.

I had my m/w app earlier and she seems not at all bothered by baby being big for dates and even said she didn't think it was.
Who do you believe the sonogropher who took actual measurements of circumference of head or the m/w?
She said she wouldn't change the dates and would keep with 5th nov even though I have never thought this was right -I thought 3rd week oct!!
I expressed concerns due to my history and she said she understood but she wasn't sure what I wanted her to do/advise.

I realise that it is still early days but
I can feel all of my old anxieties coming back.....

HI everyone,

Muppet - I think you should stick with 27th October due date - then we can be due date buddies...

Having said that, Ive never been on time for anything in my life, so wouldn't be at all surprised if I end up joining you in November...

BTW if we're about the same stage (which I reckon we probably are) then DH felt baby kick for the first time last week. I now get a mixture of the occasional BIG thump (whihc you can feel from the outside) but mostly just lots of little wiggles (which you can't). Activity does seem to be related to my sugar intake though...

Had the midwife's appointment this morning - she was actually really nice about everything, and more than happy to see me even though I'm not going to be having this baby in the hospital she's linked with. In fact she was very sympathetic when I told her why we weren't going there any more. So all good. Everything looks good - heard a powerful heartbeat, which sped up when baby heard it herself! How cute...

Ended up going on a celebratory shop on the way back into work...

Can I just say how much I LOVE Mamas & Papas? Actually quite stylish maternity wear which doesn't cost a fortune (well, not quite).

Did more damage by buying shoes in LK Bennet though... but I needed a pair of not-too-high wedges in order not to look like the hobbit I am, without resorting to my 4" heels and falling over and hurting the baby.

It's a health and safety issue, surely, and therefore doesn't count as gratuitous retail-therapy... right?

DB
xx

MrsFish · 27/06/2007 14:17

designerbaby - of course its best for your health to have wedges, a must in these times, a necessary purchase if ever I heard one Glad your appointment went well.

Inzi - enjoy Johnny (i'm sure you will) and happy birthday to your lo Also hope your sil is ok

muppetgirl - how very frustrating for you regarding dates, not sure what to suggest to be honest, but I would veer towards what the sonographer said, they can see lo after all, mw can only go by feel, which can't be very accurate.

Well we have been to Alton Towers this morning to the Splash Landings hotel, it has a fab indoor water centre, ds is now fast asleep and snoring on the sofa... heaven Feeling tired myself, ds woke me up crying at 4.30am he had got out of bed and was on the landing, of course couldn't really get back off myself after that as it was starting to get light and the damn birds were in full song Oh well might be lucky and get a decent nap out of him this afternoon

Hope everyone else is having a good day

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 14:31
