@sheratheallpowerful paracetemol is ok and has done the trick with the one or two headaches i have had. I think they are common due to hormones ☹

Those menthol sticks are fine too but just a word of warning to anyone with a cold, check labels to ensure the remedy doesnt contain eucalyptus (in things like Albas oil) which is banned in pregnancy. I was suprised actually how many natural remedies are actually dangerous in pregnancy.

The other thing i have used is a lavendar filled wheat bag, lovely for tension / tired heads x

newrubylane · 12/10/2018 10:59

So, just back from my scan. It was quite a shock to see TWO of them wiggling around in there...!

Ohnonotanotherusername · 12/10/2018 11:07

@newrubylane waaaaah!!! Double congratulations!

5tarlight · 12/10/2018 11:07

Oooh Ruby!! Congratulations! 😀 Yes that would be quite a shock am sure!

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 12/10/2018 11:18

Yay @newrubylane twins are the best, mine are 8 now :) identical or non?

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 12/10/2018 11:24

Sorry everyone - I seem to be good at keeping up with the facebook group, but not so much with the 2nd "continued" thread.

I'm 29, and 14 weeks pregnant with my first - my 12 week scan put my due date back so I'm now 11th April. One lovely mini human waving at me. DH thinks it's a girl but I've no idea - I think we'll try to find out at 20 weeks.

I had my flu jab on Thursday - nice and easy, no bruise or aching. I've had them before and they've been much worse, think the nurse was much more gentle since I'm pregnant now.

I'm reading "The Positive Birth Book" and thinking about a possible home water birth. I'm not sure how I feel about the hypnobirthing/orgasmic birth/hippie bits, but I'd like to stay in my own space, and be calm and quiet, if it's safe to stay. Anyone else thinking about a home birth?

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 12/10/2018 11:25

Congratulations @Ruby - how exciting! I always think twin pregnancies seem very efficient :)

newrubylane · 12/10/2018 11:25

Non-identical. So unexpected, they don't run in the family or anything. Sort of getting used to the idea, but it sounds like I'll be spending a lot of time at the hospital from here onwards! I'm also going to look ridiculous, because I'm really tiny - I'm going to be 90 per cent bump by the end!

SPR1107 · 12/10/2018 12:18

Wow! Congratulations @newrubylane! I can't imagine the shock you must have felt, how exciting!

italianwifey · 12/10/2018 13:08

Wow congrats @rubylane, what a shock! Is it still @organised5 who is sorting out the Facebook group?

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 12/10/2018 13:14

Yes I’ll join FB group once I’ve done my scan and it’s common knowledge :)

monkerina · 12/10/2018 13:33

Omg congrats @newrubylane!!

@archbishopofbanterbury I'm hoping for a home waterbirth 😊 had a waterbirth with DS in the MLU last time, no pain relief, so totally think I can do it! Only thing is I had a haemorrhage last time delivering the placenta- I don't recommend physiological 3rd stage!- so in theory need it signed off by the consultant. I'd definitely recommend hypnobirthing, really helped me stay in control.

Singlemummyto5 · 12/10/2018 15:16

Hi guys I have only just found out I'm pregnant so if my dates are right I am 15+2 and due 3rd of April. I live in the middle of no where so would love to chat with others at a similar stage x

MigMog · 12/10/2018 16:39

Hello everyone. Lovely to hear everyone's scan updates

So I want to talk hair. I'm due to get my hair colored tomorrow. Is it safe? I thought I'd avoid the bleach but wondered what your thoughts on hair dye is?
My hair dresser just had a bairn so she will be full of advice too.

SPR1107 · 12/10/2018 16:54

Congratulations @Singlemummyto5! Bet that was a shock finding out at this time.

@MigMog I'd have a patch test done first, with my last pregnancy, the colours always took a different tone than expected. Almost more of a copper tone every time, and once I'd had him, it stopped doing it

MigMog · 12/10/2018 17:16

@spr1107 thanks for that. Good idea too! Do you think it's safe to use hair dye?

Singlemummyto5 · 12/10/2018 17:29

Thank you @SPR1107, yes huge shock I haven't even had my booking in appointment yet (midwife hopefully coming out to me this weekend) so not really sure of where I am exactly I am. But being a veteran mummy I have been feeling baby move for a couple of weeks, so at least that keeps my mind at rest x

newrubylane · 12/10/2018 17:31

Thanks all for the congrats. Slowly adjusting to the idea... 😊

Annie264 · 12/10/2018 18:03

@MigMog I had my hair coloured a couple of weeks ago. I checked with my midwife first and she said it's fine. She said it's better to get t done at a salon rather than try to do it yourself at home, because if you're anything like me you'd just squirt it everywhere and the skin gets more saturated than if a professional applies it!

Ro84 · 12/10/2018 20:23

Hi!
EDD on 16th of April. i had the scan and harmony results (in NI we are not allowed to have the NT test...) and everything is fine. Im still getting anxious about everything, this evening i found out looking at my notes that i should have rang to book a midwife for my 16 week app. Getting a booking app was already an odyssey (they were fully booked in my hospital and i had to make phone calls until i finally was given an app in the next town at 12 weeks), so i am sure the midwife will be fully booked in 2 weeks time. The antenatal classes are also supposed to start at week 16th but they book up early so im afraid i wont be in without a midwife to follow this through. Why do they give so little information!!!

SPR1107 · 12/10/2018 20:29

@Ro84 can you not do it through your doctors surgery? Or through your community midwife team?

Rubbish day over here, woke up in the middle of the night thinking I'd some how wet myself, turned the light on to find I was covered in blood, cleaned myself up and stood up and it just kept running down my legs, went to the hospital, and whilst there started to pass large clots, so thought the worst. Had to have an internal at 4am which showed nothing obvious but I was convinced baby was gone. A 3pm, finally saw a midwife, who found babies heartbeat instantly, I've never felt relief like it! Turns out my placenta is low lying, and has been aggravated by me lifting my 2 year old and 'over doing it', so I'm on a weeks worth of bed rest... Netflix is about to become my bet friend!

newrubylane · 12/10/2018 20:38

Oh @SPR1107, that must have been terrifying. I'm so glad everything is ok - you know, relatively speaking. And I could totally get on board with the bed rest right now...

italianwifey · 12/10/2018 21:33

@spr1107 I’m so glad everything’s okay Flowers @migmog I had a full head of highlights done about a month ago - bob my SIL are hairdressers and assured me it’s fine! My hair actually took better to the bleach than normal, which was odd! But your hair does react differently with he hormones

Treaclepie19 · 12/10/2018 21:36

@SPR1107 I'm so sorry you've had such a time of it. I'm glad all is okay xxx

monkerina · 12/10/2018 21:47

Oh @SPR that must have been terrifying. So glad everything is OK x
