Not sure about you all but I'm definitely feeling a lot better now at 14 weeks. Let's hope it lasts!! As you were.....

@maxiflump1 Yes, think we are of similar proportions at the moment! Grin I just looked at my photo again and that makes it look smaller than it is! Honestly, I cant believe that 4 weeks ago I was in my normal trousers going for my scan and I'm now in full blown maternity wear. So much more comfortable though. Felt amazing to eat a Sunday lunch in maternity leggings yesterday - such room for expansion. Think I'll be getting them out for every Christmas from now on!

Yakadee · 27/08/2018 20:25

Absolutely crap pic (apparently my hubby can't take a decent pic lol) but I am defo there with you all on the bump front! I'm 17+1 and so much bigger this time than with my first x

@hayley013 I’m also looking for a good online hypnobirthing course, heard good things about the positive birthing company, let me know! 😃

DragonFlew · 27/08/2018 21:10

Aw lovely bump pics!

jeanzbeanz · 27/08/2018 22:00

Jealous of the ladies who are in maternity clothes, I'm still struggling through with a few baggy normal clothes for now! Somehow feel like 17wks is too early to go shopping and if I buy stuff that fits now it won't fit in a couple of months...

hayley013 · 27/08/2018 22:36

@MakeLemonade @Leonora94 Ah yes I've read a lot of recommendations for the positive birth company too, I'm tempted to go for that one, seems cheap too really for what you can gain from it, when would I start it? I've no idea

@Picklesandpies I look huge on a night, probably after everything I eat haha, but then not as big during the day.

Surprisedmom · 27/08/2018 22:37

This is my 15 week bump. Once in loose clothing it’s not noticeable at all, but I notice it all the time because it feels so solid.

I’ve bought a few maternity things from eBay but not wearing them yet just sticking to loose clothes. Definitely need some maternity tights soon though in order to be comfortable in loose skirts and dresses for work.

Baby160P · 27/08/2018 22:39

Lovely bump pics.

Watching celeb big brother and Dan got me very emotional at the end. Literally out of control 😭 if anyone else watches

Leonora94 · 28/08/2018 06:51

@hayley013 yeah the price attracted me too. I’m not sure when to start but I think it will probably be closer to the time for me, maybe beginning of the third tri. Otherwise I can see myself doing it all and getting bored of it so ignoring it for the last few weeks 🤔

@Suprisedmom mine looks similar to yours, the only reason I know it’s not bloating is because it feels hard.

welshweasel · 28/08/2018 07:54

Firmly in maternity clothes now at 17 weeks. I was saying to the midwife about how much quicker I was showing this time - she laughed and said yeah, your stomach muscles don’t put up any resistance and everything just flops on out 😂

Is anyone else getting strange belly button sensations? It's really weird, almost like a pulling feeling inside?

powkin · 28/08/2018 08:47

14.5 weeks here and still being very sick. Only once every 3 days perhaps but horrendous when I am. It’s like freshers week at Newcastle University in my bathroom.

I can still squeeze into some of my stretchy clothes but feel really uncomfortable. I’m lucky to always have had issues with my tummy area so own lots of loose things already. I need to chuck a load of stuff in vacuum bags to be labelled “will probably never be able to wear this again”!

Doodlebug19 · 28/08/2018 09:59

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that's had to create a 'probably never to be worn again' pile! Tops seem to be ok still but jeans are just a no go!

Sickness seemed to had disappeared for a few weeks but has now returned at 17+4 with renewed violence, trouble is there doesn't seem to be much warning!

Has anyone else started purchasing bits and pieces? I'm planning on going on Mat leave as late as poss so am trying to make sure I'm prepared before rather than later! :)

MrsY87 · 28/08/2018 11:02

@powkin 15+4 here and I'm still being sick pretty much every day... I'm so fed up with it now. If I'm not sick I still end up wretching which isn't particularly pleasant!

I'm in my mat jeans but still just wearing my normal looser tops. I think I'm still in that awkward is she pregnant or just fat stage though if you don't know! I'd expected to be huge already given it's my 3rd pregnancy & twins so clinging on to feeling quite small & neat for as long as I can although I'm sure it won't last for long!

MrsY87 · 28/08/2018 11:04

@Doodlebug19 I haven't started buying anything but we did pop into Mothercare yesterday and look at double buggies...I think I'm more confused about what I want than I was from my online research! Can't decide between side by side or inline...pros and cons to both!

Baby160P · 28/08/2018 11:45

We haven't started buying but have set up a John Lewis nursery list.

Great idea if anyone's interested, I'll explain Incase you don't know.

They price match everything.

You basically go in store and set it up and get a code, you can go in or online whenever you want to add or remove from the list. You buy yourself or if people want to get things you can give them the code and basically they have a warehouse where they keep everything and then you decide when you want things. You don't have to have it all at once either. They then deliver the same week.

Also great if you are having a baby shower or want people to buy things to your tastes.

I should get a job there 😜

powkin · 28/08/2018 12:09

They got my screening test results back and have said the downs risk is low but one of the hormones is really high and I have to come in for another scan and consultant appointment tomorrow as it may mean “something is not right with the pregnancy”. I’m really worried now. Has anyone had this before? I was starting to feel more confident :( I’m going on holiday in 4 days and now that’s the last thing I want to do.

Alicejj8x · 28/08/2018 12:44

So far we've got so so many unisex clothes babygrows. We brought a fluffy coming home suit yesterday as Feb will be freezing lol

I've wrote down the list of all the things a new born needs & the things I want to get thanks to google now will tick them
Off when I get them :)

Got a sleepy head today half the price which I was sooooo happy with :)

Lookingforadvice123 · 28/08/2018 13:15

Impressed at people still in normal jeans! I've been out of mine for weeks, am in either a pair of maternity jeans (which admittedly are big) or a sized up pair of jeggings I bought to wear in the transition period after DS was born. I'm usually a size 10 though and I only tend to wear skinnies so my normal jeans are pretty unforgiving.

powkin so sorry, that's really worrying. Did they ring you or was it just in the letter? Which hormone was too high? It may well be just something they want to monitor, I don't have experience myself but I know of a couple of people whose levels were not the norm, and in those circumstances the placenta wasn't quite functioning as it should. That's just one of a million things though I'm sure, and I think if it was anything really serious they would've contacted you earlier. When did you have the screening test?

Lookingforadvice123 · 28/08/2018 13:16

I won't be buying anything yet! I've kept all of DS' clothes so once we know the sex I can start sorting through (if it's a boy I'll just keep everything though!). We will need to get a crib eg next to me as the Moses basket only lasted DS until 10 weeks so want a proper crib this time. The main thing for us is actually stuff for DS' big boy room which we're hoping he'll be in by the end of the year so he gets used to it before the baby arrives.

Notquiteagandt · 28/08/2018 13:19

@powkin I am sure they are being over cautious.but id call uo and stress you are going on holiday they may get you in vefore hand to reassure you. Good luck. Hope all is well.

@Alicejj8x where did you get your sleepy head from? What a bargain!

@MrsY87 I am a total pram geek. I am a buyer in the nursery industry. So it is allowed!
Pram wise if you want side by side look at mountain buggy duo (narrowest side by side by far) I am getting a vista to use as a single. But it is fab as a double also.

Id pay attention to shop doorways around your area. Are they narrower older shops? Would you struggle with side by side?

As well as the fold. I would say thats the most importabt gage of size.

Just my 2 pence what I look for whilst buying product to sell. Smile

Alicejj8x · 28/08/2018 13:24

@Notquiteagandt
I was so so happy with it .. one of my friends I used to work in nursery with messaged me and said did I want hers as her baby has grown out of it now and it's in perfect condition and I know it's well looked after. Look at the pic looks brand new!!

powkin · 28/08/2018 13:31

@Lookingforadvice123 @notquiteagandt - I’m having a scan with the obstetrician in fetal medicine tomorrow and assume they’ll do more blood tests too. A midwife called this morning and said one hormone was high but didn’t say which. I had the blood test and NT scan (normal) on the afternoon of Friday 16th so it does seem a long time to have waited, I haven’t had a letter yet. Maybe they wanted to redo the bloods or something.
I was just starting to relax and telling people so feels like horrible timing.

Notquiteagandt · 28/08/2018 13:36

@powkin good luck. Least you dont have to wait to long. Easier said then done but Id try not to google. It always makes things seem scarier.

But I would also take the time they took to get in touch as some what reassuring.

Hopefully all is well then you can destress and relax on holiday Flowers

Lookingforadvice123 · 28/08/2018 13:51

Good luck powkin, it's a long wait for sure so hopefully that means it's nothing major. I was told if there was a problem I'd get a call within 3 days. A friend's sister's baby had Down syndrome and she got a call within two days.

I've heard only good things about fetal medicine departments so ask as many questions as you can think of. Everything crossed for you.
