New thread ladies after the last one only lasted 2 weeks Grin
Not sure about you all but I'm definitely feeling a lot better now at 14 weeks. Let's hope it lasts!! As you were.....

I'm definitely with those of you that are concerned about mat leave! I'm completely terrified of being able to cope financially (even though we will be fine!) As well as feeling bad about not earning and contributing to the bills etc! By the looks of everyone's comments, sitting down and working out the figures might be a good idea!

We saw a consultant today which was an underwhelming process! (Dp was born with a heart defect that required major surgery) They were running an hour behind and then the consultant basically didn't speak throughout the appointment! On the upside they have book an extra scan at 34 weeks and a specialist to do my 20 week scan so it's not all bad!

@DragonFlew
Oh I'm sorry to hear you suffered with it

Thank you and your right on my app today or says headaches and dizziness is normal in the 2nd trimester l

Wow so many people decorating/renovating! We had a new kitchen/dining living done in the spring which included knocking through the existing kitchen/dining room/conservatory so we've got a lovely big space now. We loved with my parents while it was being done, for about 8 weeks, which I actually enjoyed. They're both retired and it was lovely having dinner made every night!

We've just had the hall/landing plastered and that'll be painted in a couple of weeks. We need to do the second double bedroom as that'll be DS' big boy room, ideally by the end of the year. That'll mean new carpet, wallpaper stripping, painting, demolishing the ugly fitted wardrobes etc, and he'll need a new bed, all sorts. I shudder at the cost!

Mat leave wise I'm very lucky and get 6 months full pay, so I've already made a plan to save every month from Jan, to give me a bit extra for the 3 months I'm on statutory.

lanalawr · 23/08/2018 07:50

Wow there are a lot of us doing/planning/just done work on houses. We moved a couple of months ago and need to rewire, do plumbing, wall ties, kitchen (including knocking down walls), bathroom and possibly move downstairs toilet. That's before we even look at the garden. At least ours has been livable. It's not all going to be done before Feb because of finances but if the wiring, boiler, wall ties and kitchen can be done that would be amazing!

Is anyone else finding that their hair is falling out? Mine didn't last pregnancy but it is this time. It's not quite as bad as post-pregnancy hair loss was for me last time but not far off. I feel like it's getting worse too.

DragonFlew · 23/08/2018 08:09

@lanalawr yes to hair loss! So strange, my last 2 pregnancies I had beautiful thick hair - no loss. This time I wash it and there's just loads coming off. It's a bit worrying but I'm lucky to have very thick hair anyway!

Notquiteagandt · 23/08/2018 08:33

@lanalawr yea big clumps. Between damage hyperemesis is doing my teeth. Feel like come feb ill be toothless and bald 😭😭😭

DragonFlew · 23/08/2018 08:34

@notquiteagandt sorry I did laugh!! Pregnancy can be so glamourous!

Wames90 · 23/08/2018 08:47

@Yakadee the midwife told me first urine of the day because if you do one after breakfast it can show up positive for glucose because of the sugars in most foods. She said it didn’t matter hugely though so I’m sure if you just tell your midwife when you did yours then it’ll be fine!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 23/08/2018 09:04

I don’t feel so crazy now! We’re about to get started on a loft conversion, I live in a two bed house and with 4 people in it already, adding a fifth will be quite tight!
Can’t afford to move house, so making extra space is the only option.

Saying that, I moved house when I was four days overdue last pregnancy, so timing is clearly not my forte!!

My hair is falling out too 😩😩

MakeLemonade · 23/08/2018 09:08

We also have a load of house stuff to do, we moved three weeks ago (after having done a major renovation on our old house) and it hasn’t been touched since about 1976 so needs totally gutting, new kitchen (and a knock through) and a few exterior bits too. Thankfully we got it for quite a bit under budget so have some cash to throw at it which hopefully means it won’t take too long. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

jeanzbeanz · 23/08/2018 09:37

Oh good I'm not the only nutter who's doing renovation and pregnancy at the same time!

@MrsY87 it should have been ready for is to move in next month but I think it will probably be October before we have a working bathroom (and I'm not moving in before that!). Just about to order the kitchen... 😊😊

Picklesandpies · 23/08/2018 09:45

I'm having a bit of a panic - felt fine when I woke up this morning but now when I stand up I feel a bit breathless and lightheaded, as though I might faint. I know dizziness is normal but is breathlessness? I'm on holiday abroad so not near my own hospital or GP to get checked out. Can anyone relate?

Picklesandpies · 23/08/2018 09:49

I'm 16 weeks by the way. Sure I'm ok but feel a bit alarmed as haven't felt like this before Confused

twiglet · 23/08/2018 09:56

Picklesandpies it's another quirky pregnancy symptom people don't really tell you about.

Re light headedness focus on something dead ahead as you stand up and drink plenty of fluids

Yakadee · 23/08/2018 10:26

Had my 16 week appointment. She said it wasn't the norm to listen for heartbeat at 16 weeks anymore as it's hit and miss if they'll catch the baby. I told her I was fine with that so we tried. She caught the HB once but they were being naughty 😍 managed to hear a few bumps though when it was moving around / kicking. Nice to know they are wriggling away happy in there. Hope everyone is OK today x

Picklesandpies · 23/08/2018 10:48

Thanks @twiglet. That's really helpful. I've had a second breakfast and I feel a bit better now. Posture could definitely be worked on!

lanalawr · 23/08/2018 10:50

So glad it's not just me.

I really feel for you though @Notquiteagandt (although I did have a little smile at your description). Is there any sign of your hyperemesis easing or do you think it's there for the long run?

Notquiteagandt · 23/08/2018 11:02

@lanalawr

Thanks for asking...

Every dr I have seen has said some people see a vast improvement at 15weeks as hormones dip. But I am 14w3d and having a really bad week. Feel like taken a step back. So looking likely I wont be so lucky.

Once I hit 16w though there is more meds I can try like stronger steroids etc so 🤞

Roll on february....

Baby160P · 23/08/2018 11:10

@Yakadee good to know. I really hope they check the HB

jeanzbeanz · 23/08/2018 11:11

@Notquiteagandt do you find you have a better week then have a really bad week again? I felt much better when I was about 11+4 and thought I must be on the mend, but felt awful again at 12w. I felt somewhat better at 14w but was terrible again for the last two weeks but today (16+3) I'm feeling pretty good again, although I've been sick several times the last few days. It's so weird. Every time I think I'm getting better I suddenly get loads worse again.

jeanzbeanz · 23/08/2018 11:17

Anyone else not planning to find out the gender until their baby is born?

Picklesandpies · 23/08/2018 11:30

@jeanzbeanz we won't be finding out. We didn't with our last two either. I know everyone's different but I love the surprise of finding out at the end.

Notquiteagandt · 23/08/2018 11:33

@jeanzbeanz I have had 2 sick free days since I was 5w and they where both around 12w so got prematurely excited. But nope 😭 its just the general feeling of absolute exhaustion and weakness. Ive been house bound for 9w now other than medical appointments.

Some days i feel like i have a little more energy then bam next day i collapse in bambi legged heap trying to get out bed.

Just wish was consistant so didnt get my hopes up and could plan ahead.

Rant over...soin be forgotten once baby is in my arms im sure.

AliceRR · 23/08/2018 12:19

I think i just has some spotting after I went to the loo. I went for a number 2 (sorry if tmi but feeling a bit constipated so may have been slightly forced if that makes a difference). Literally one spot when I wiped and wondering if I imagined it...

I am 15 weeks. Is this normal at this stage? This happened once before when I was able 12 weeks and was fine at scan...

🙄

DragonFlew · 23/08/2018 12:26

@AliceRR are you sure the blood was vaginal? If you're constipated is there a chance it could be a fissure or piles? I had this with DS1, freaked out and went to the GP who was amazing and said it was just piles!

If you're concerned call the GP if only to put your mind at rest xx
