New thread ladies after the last one only lasted 2 weeks Grin
Not sure about you all but I'm definitely feeling a lot better now at 14 weeks. Let's hope it lasts!! As you were.....

Sorry if this freaks some of you out..... but I have a consultants appointment tomorrow morning because I had a third degree tear when I had my DS and have had some minor issues since. Think I'm probably going to have a c section this time... anyone else considering a c section following a traumatic previous birth??

My previous births haven’t been traumatic.. thankfully!

Hope you get your c section without too much of a fight, stay firm... I’ve read that a lot of people have to really push for for it, others get it approved straightaway 🤷🏻‍♀️

jeanzbeanz · 19/08/2018 20:57

I've wondered a couple of times if I've felt movement but I think it's probably my stomach doing weird things!

After my fainting episode this morning I've felt a bit light headed all day. Anyone else experienced this, and is it something I should be worried about? It's making me so tired, I've spent most of the day in bed.

Yakadee · 19/08/2018 21:21

@maxiflump1 yes! At least I'm hoping I can. I know it's not the 'easy option' but really not a great experience with my first and although I didn't tear I had a mega episiotomy and I'm genuinely concerned about how I'll actually be able to get my baby out lol. X

Surprisedmom · 19/08/2018 22:17

@jeanzbeanz yes I also felt funny for the rest of the day after fainting. I have only just started feeling a bit better tonight after eating as much salty food as I could all day to try and raise my blood pressure. Apparently sitting cross legged also helps so i’ve been doing that whenever i’m sitting down too. Hope you’re feeling better soon and definitely by the morning.

Baby160P · 19/08/2018 23:02

@Alicejj8x what app do you use? I've felt so much pulling down below today x

Alicejj8x · 20/08/2018 06:20

@Baby160P
I use 3 different apps but Ovia pregnancy app was the one which said baby would be making more strong movements this week. :)

I use bounty app
What to expect app
And ovia pregnancy :)

I've been struck with the sickness bug! Threw up ALL night last night! Poor baby, I'm managing a piece of toast right now - I hope they have reserves! X

powkin · 20/08/2018 09:25

Had loads of random pains last night in my right hand side and right in the middle of my lower abdomen. Don’t know what’s normal and what to worry about! I guess as everything is starting to move I will get random pains?! 🤷‍♀️

Still don’t know if I’m just fat or starting to show.

Had to move twice on the tube today, first time because the man smelled of BO the second because they reaked of cigarettes. Urgh!

Since2016 · 20/08/2018 09:26

@maxiflump1 yep! I had 4 days of labour, two failed inductions (I didn’t dilate last 3cm) and an EMCS following meconium in the waters and dropping heart rate. DD spent a week in NICU on oxygen and IV antibiotics. I recovered well from the CS and it’s a no brainer for me this time. MW was v supportive and said she didn’t blame me. Cons appt not until December. I’m not expecting any resistance although I am going to double check that this appt is simply a consent and date selection exercise at my next MW appt!

Since2016 · 20/08/2018 09:32

Hope your cons appt goes well. Hopefully they’ll agree without too much challenge x @maxiflump1

Yakadee · 20/08/2018 09:34

@Since2016 & @maxiflump1 - how do you get these consultant appointments? I've heard it's a real fight to get elc? Xx

Tumon · 20/08/2018 09:44

Hi @maxiflump yes had a third degree tear with first and have had c section agreed in theory with midwife and will see consultants to confirm but midwife said there’ll be no problems considering what happened first time (won’t go into details here) please pm me for more info!

Since2016 · 20/08/2018 09:49

@yakadee - at my first MW appt we talked about my previous birth. She said what was I thinking this time - and said I don’t blame you. She said she’d make the referral to the consultant and that it would be booked for week 39. I think it’s probably also trust dependent, but generally if you’ve had an EMCS then you should be given the option next time. The mws kept saying after I had DD that I could have a vaginal birth next time - I said as if!

Since2016 · 20/08/2018 09:51

So in short - MW is the gate keeper. Mine has been super efficient and made all the referrals - i have to have various different checks - v quickly so all booked in already.

Yakadee · 20/08/2018 09:53

@Since2016 - thanks. I did mention it at my first appointment and she didn't really acknowledge what I said and just said it would have to be on labour wars due to complications. I put it down to it being my first appointment and being early days. X

jeanzbeanz · 20/08/2018 10:00

@surprisedmom glad to know it's not just me. I've been doing some reading up on how to increase blood pressure and think I'll try and increase my salt intake a bit!

AliceRR · 20/08/2018 10:01

I think I’m hormonal today. Argued with DH last night and woke up feeling crap. Argued a bit more. Now at work feeling rubbish and cannot concentrate. Also my bump feels small and that just makes me feel worse! 😩

Have to pop to hospital at lunch for blood tests as some of mine were lost - “blood group and save”. No idea what that means but she at least confirmed everything else ok and I got my DS risk letter which was low. Need to be positive 🙂

Since2016 · 20/08/2018 10:18

@yakadee maybe just follow up again at your next appt. I know they don’t like to do birth chars till later but I’m quite glad that this has been agreed already as I was quite worried about it after last time!

As an aside - has anyone else been referred for birth reflections / birth trauma counselling?

Alicejj8x · 20/08/2018 10:45

Has pregnancy made anyone's belly hairy??

maxiflump1 · 20/08/2018 10:48

@Tumon and @Since2016 nice to know I'm not alone with the traumatic first birth. Just waiting to go in know so will let u know how I get on!

@Yakadee apparently it's the policy where I am for anyone who had a third or fourth degree tear to be referred for consultant. Was expecting a bit of a fight with midwife at booking in but as soon as she saw I'd had one she said she'd refer me without me saying anything!!

Notquiteagandt · 20/08/2018 10:49

@Alicejj8x yep layer thin white downy hair all over and some black ones and a dark skin pigment line down the middle. Gross!!

Im super pale so feel its really noticible.

Effy1990 · 20/08/2018 10:49

Because of my previous birth and c-section I'm going to ask to have a scan at about 36 weeks and decide whether to have a c-section then as my previous birth was an undiagnosed breech with a risk of cord prolapse as she wasn't descending and if I have another breech I just want to go straight for the c-section.

But then I'm also going to ask for no interventions if I do go into labour and yet again go straight for c-section as I've had one before already have an increase in various risks and know what the recovery for that is like.

maxiflump1 · 20/08/2018 11:30

Just got out and consultant was lovely. Said it was totally my choice what I wanted. When I said I wanted a c section and the reasons why she said she'd probably chose the same! So back after xmas to confirm a date. Also been given a prescription for blood thinning injections from 26 weeks as have a medium risk of blood clots. The glamour of pregnancy!
