Hey @kaytees that’s such good news. What a relief! If you have any words of wisdom or advice you would be happy to share about your experiences first time around I would love to hear them. I feel like my health team are already downplaying my (very legitimate) fears about birth.

kaytees · 06/09/2018 20:10

@AGirlinLondon I'm so sorry you're feeling like that - I can't remember specifics but know you definitely had some complications and have legitimate reasons to be worried! How do you feel they're downplaying your concerns?

I think the main thing I've learned from first time round is to ask questions and keep asking until I feel they're properly answered - or ask to speak to someone else if I feel fobbed off. I stopped worrying about feeling annoying! I didn't do this with my first and actually had I been pushier my birth would have been better managed.

AGirlinLondon · 06/09/2018 20:28

Thanks @kaytees. I have placenta praevia and they’re still adamant I’ll be in natural birth centre - in fact from the very beginning they’ve insisted I will be and when I raise it they just say ‘too soon to talk about that yet’ 🙄

December2018 · 07/09/2018 04:56

Well I've been up since 4:30 frantically mopping the floors and getting very upset because the dog has weed all over the kitchen!.....brilliant! 😖

kaytees · 07/09/2018 09:24

That's awful @AGirlinLondon - I thought with previa they had to make a plan in case it doesn't move! I think there's always a big push for the midwife led birth centres, I was told I would be in one even at 38 weeks after a growth scan revealed my son was already 8.5 pounds ... when I actually went into labour I was whisked straight to the consultant led unit, didn't even see a birthing pool!

AGirlinLondon · 07/09/2018 10:18

Ohh @December that is exactly what happened in our house last week! Turns out he had a UTI poor thing. But they thought it was upset because of the baby!

emwithme · 07/09/2018 13:02

Had a growth scan this morning. She's still a girl (!) and despite everyone and their fucking aunty telling me my bump is tiny, she's measuring perfect for my dates.

During the scan we had a lovely view of her yawning and using my bladder as a trampoline!

Got my GTT on Tuesday which I'm really not looking forward to but ho hum!

@AGirlinLondon wow. We have totally different advice. I've been told very unlikely to move and were planning for a section around 37/38 weeks and they're hoping no complications prior to this. Are you a total/partial/marginal? I'm pleased to find out that I'm total posterior though so if it does move it will move to the back. I was worried about it moving forward and then it complicating a c-section.
But I still have my fingers crossed it will move. At the mo (26 weeks) but is still transverse and kicks are low which suggests it hasn't moved but won't be confirmed until 32 week scan, so lots of time to move still.

December2018 · 07/09/2018 18:11

Emwithme
She is absolutely beautiful!! 💖

AGirlinLondon · 07/09/2018 18:21

Hey @Cake I am partial to marginal posterior. That might be why They aren’t scanning me again until 36 - at which point I will be told if I am going to have to have a caesarean THE FOLLOWING WEEK 🤔

They won’t so much as discuss moving me from natural birth until then. So I have heavily briefed OH that if anything happens between now and birth, he has to shout placenta praevia at anyone who will listen - so I don’t end up in a dangerous situation!

AGirlinLondon · 07/09/2018 18:22

Am still considering a private scan to see if it has moved. Having read every medical journal I can find on the topic it sounds like the vast majority resolve (and around the 28 week mark too)

lipstickandgin · 07/09/2018 19:10

Hi ladies can I join please? I'm 24+1 and due 27th December. Is it normal with your first to keep saying oh my gosh I'm actually pregnant, or is that just me?

ThirdChildFourthPile · 07/09/2018 19:29

Welcome, I'm due 24th December but I've decided I'm going to give birth on the 27th Wink
I'm pregnant with my third child and I get waves of "omg im pregnant!" I got it 10X more with my first child though.
Not so much with my second baby, no idea why not.

MagicalCreatures · 07/09/2018 23:54

@lipstickandgin Hi Hun. I’m 24 weeks today due 28th December going by my dating Scan. But I had 3 early scans all dating me as the 27th.
I still forget I’m pregnant sometimes then look down at my belly and think ‘oh wow, I’m pregnant’. (It’s my first)
Its a very strange but amazing feeling. X

lipstickandgin hey hun my first too 🙀
I'm due 19th December with a little man...
I was walking round my local Asda yesterday and forgot all about being pregnant and then caught a glimpse of myself in a reflection.... it was a moment of shock 😂
I'm getting feet & all kinds in the ribs now tho which is wonderful
(Hence why I'm bloody awake at this time)
.... I did just have a marsbar tho... not gonna lie 🤣

faykceb · 08/09/2018 06:44

Hey ladies had a really rough day yesterday. I had to commute to Bristol which takes around an hour train and 30 min walk either end of station. I’ve been finding it progressively harder to walk long distances but yesterday I didn’t sleep well and just had major breathlessness all day. To top it off my joints were all achy and I just felt like my bump had grown exponentially overnight. When I finally got home I just collapsed in a heap. What do you ladies do to relax after a long day? My legs are still achy. Think I’m going to insist on a growth scan at next appointment as I am huge and can’t believe the consultant refused my midwife referral.

lipstickandgin · 08/09/2018 08:18

Glad it's not just me Smile we have remained team yellow, although my partner was/is desperate to find out! Baby obviously sided with me as our 20wk scan the baby decided to cross his/her legs and put a hand over that area Grin

lipstickandgin · 08/09/2018 08:22

@faykceb I've started pregnancy yoga for aches and pains, it seems to be helping so far and I feel so relaxed after each session. If I could remember all of the moves I would do it at home but my memory seems to be failing me recently Grin

faykceb · 08/09/2018 09:02

@lipstickandgin I've been doing Tara Lee pregnancy yoga dvd and also yoga with Adrienne but legs are just so achy. Must just be excessive walking. I'm going to sit with my legs up a wall for a bitSmile

Cakelaur · 08/09/2018 09:07

@AGirlinLondon yes so my dr was saying the same. If partial/marginal it's very likely to move. But having said that, defo worth having your notes with you at all times and triage on speed dial. And a bag packed just in case. Look out for any bleeding. Sounds like you're doing all the right things. But I'm really sorry that your hospital isn't doing more to give you confidence. I found my consultant wonderful the other day and really made me feel good about the team looking after me. The only reason they think mine won't move is because it's complete. And it may move but not enough to deliver naturally. Sending hugs. X

AGirlinLondon · 08/09/2018 11:53

Thank you @cake that is so kind. Bag is packed - everything ready so my OH has nothing to worry about if I bleed and have to go in early. Now I’m almost down to single figures in weeks it’s becoming a lot more real...I’ll let you know if it moves! Very best of luck with yours x

Also I second the Yoga! I teach yoga and practise every day. Reducing the number of poses now but I absolutely love it. It’s my favourite time of the day and a real treat. X

AGirlinLondon · 08/09/2018 11:53

Ps anyone else getting restless leg yet??

Sjb10 · 08/09/2018 13:06

Hi everyone! I am a little late joining the party but I'm 27 weeks and due Dec 4th with a boy!!
I am feeling lots of movement but its all very low down still, well below my belly button. I am getting a little concerned reading peoples comments about being kicked in the ribs etc. Is he is too low down for how far along I am? Hopefully its just my latest thing to worry about for no reason, I have a growth scan on tuesday so not long to wait Smile

December2018 · 08/09/2018 13:21

Sjb10 my little one is only reaching the bottom ribs 😂.... when I went for the 20 week scan the sonographer said he got really really long legs so I think maybe he's got a bit more reach haha

December2018 · 08/09/2018 13:22

Most of my movement is still low down too so don't worry 😘
