Thanks @twobambinos! He was 8.13 pounds... The end stage was so quick I only had time for gas and air. Really intense experience! Haven't really slept since he was born as he is feeding almost round the clock 🙃

How is everyone else doing?

FreiasBathtub · 26/10/2018 13:58

Wow huge congrats on a huge baby @midnight1983 that must hace been intense! So glad it all went quickly once you got underway.

How are you doing @unicornchaser @meetthewildes @LanaLily11? The waiting is a killer! I was so lazy in my last few weeks, knew I should be walking/bouncing/shagging but just couldn't face it! Hope you all get to meet your babies soon.

We are doing well, little chap seems quite easygoing so far (touch wood) but I had forgotten the misery of early days breastfeeding. My nipples are shredded!

unicornchaser · 26/10/2018 15:56

I have given up, completely. Feel really down and a bit depressed the last couple of days and just want to cry (I normally have zero emotional capability......). I'm so over it all now.
The bouncing, the walking, rubbing oils over myself, eating pineapple. I'm just done.

Wish this was a good enough reason to be induced/c-sectioned in itself!

twobambinos · 26/10/2018 16:50

@midnight1983 adrenaline kind of gets you through the first few days but then u need to try and catch some sleep.
He was a good size baby wasn't here. Not far off my own little man.

@unicornchaser I actually think a good cry kicked off my first labour at 40+3 I was asked to come back again next week and it sent me into an hour long sob. I was so I've it. Next day I was in labour. Its OK to put the feet up too and just rest. I tried all the old wives tales bar the walking. Ball, sex, hot spicy foods, raspberry leaf tea and I still went overdue three times. Some babies just take longer to get going it really won't be too long now so feet up, good magazine
and something nice to ead and be kind to yourself.

unicornchaser · 27/10/2018 13:41

Tuna pasta with chillis in and jalapeño poppers for lunch.
Curry planned for dinner.
#desperation!

midnight1983 · 27/10/2018 17:24

@unicornchaser stay strong! I was so feeling exactly as you describe and it's really hard but it can go on forever. Your chilli plan sounds good!

@freiasbathtub thank you! Glad you and baby are getting on well. I feel that early breastfeeding pain and had also forgotten how relentless the nights are...

@twobambinos still on the adrenaline but baby seems a bit more settled today so hoping the night is not as brutal...

midnight1983 · 27/10/2018 17:25

*CAN'T go on forever. Oops.

meetthewildes · 29/10/2018 11:16

@unicornchaser is it just us left? 40+5 now. Have booked in a 41+6 scan which I'm sure I'll actually make; this baby is going to walk out straight to school, I swear.

I hope that my colleagues enjoy the smell of clary sage.

unicornchaser · 29/10/2018 11:52

Might well be @meetthewildes!
I think he has set up squatters rights to my uterus!
DD tomorrow and got a mw appointment just now so hoping they will agree to a sweep!

Uft hope the Clary Sage has a better outcome for you. I've been using it for 2 weeks now and not even so much as a BH as a result 😏

Tried everything except sex which I refuse to entertain so hoping a sweep will get things going!

OP posts:
unicornchaser · 29/10/2018 11:52

Is the scan due to size? Is baby measuring big or small? Hope all goes well with it

OP posts:
meetthewildes · 29/10/2018 12:04

@unicornchaser Good luck, I hope that the sweep works for you!! Scan is to check the condition of the placenta and well-being of the baby, which will determine whether I decide to induce or just let the lazy little git take its time.

My colleagues have renamed the office 'the danger zone'. They are not wrong.

unicornchaser · 29/10/2018 13:42

They refused to do it! Because I'm 12 hours from my due date 😩😤

So to go back on Thurs, then Monday for sweeps. then induction on 12th!

Don't know how you've managed to keep working and consider not inducing! Hats off to you lady!

OP posts:
meetthewildes · 29/10/2018 13:57

@unicornchaser I really, REALLY want my home birth. And I'm a bit neurotic about hospitals, even though my medical team are lovely- there is something about feeling trapped in one that turns me into an absolute basket case. Otherwise, I would absolutely consider an induction, and I still might in a week or so...

Best of luck with the sweeps. I hope that you're not still pregnant on the 12th, but it must be quite nice to have a definite end date in sight?

unicornchaser · 29/10/2018 14:58

Thanks @meetthewildes, it is good but just wish it was sooner! I'm so much pain with spasming/collapsing hips and rib pain that I've just not enjoyed the last 5/6 weeks in the slightest. Miss being able to go for proper walks so much.

Hope your waiting pays off for you and you can get the birth you want. I'm first baby and just team 'get him out!'
🤞 for a positive scan once it comes round!

The last day of October. And at times it felt like October would never come. Best of luck to those still waiting. It won't be too long now. Feet up and take it easy

meetthewildes · 31/10/2018 14:38

Thank you, @twobambinos! How are you?

41 weeks today! My toddlers' have generously shared their cold, so I might be the first ever woman to spontaneously sneeze out a baby. My boss earnestly pulled me aside earlier today to suggest that I might like to keep spare clothes and 'maternity towels' in the office, at which point I threatened to resign if he kept going..!

I knew that I'd have a bloody November baby. I'm appalled that it's still fatting around in there, GROWING.

unicornchaser · 31/10/2018 18:09

Sorry @meetthewildes but I have left you on your own it would appear!
Baby Callan decided his due date was the best day to make his arrival and was born at 02:45 yesterday morning.

Hang in there and hope you aren't kept waiting much longer!

OP posts:
meetthewildes · 31/10/2018 18:29

@unicornchaser congratulations and well done!! I hate you a tiny bit right now. ;)

twobambinos · 31/10/2018 22:11

Well done @unicornchaser that is fantastic timing by your little man.

@meetthewildes none of mine came on time and this one was supposed to be a September baby but I just knew from the start it would be October so you November will hopefully be good to you and you really haven't long to go. Your boss sounds nervous ha

midnight1983 · 01/11/2018 07:35

@unicornchaser congratulations! Due date baby!

@meetthewildes sorry you are still waiting, hope it happens soon for you.

FreiasBathtub · 03/11/2018 11:47

Congrats @unicornchaser glad he's arrived safely. How punctual as well!

@meetthewildes I hope you don't have to wait too much longer. Major respect for still working, that's amazing. I think you need to email this link to your boss, ease his worries a bit Grin www.artofmanliness.com/articles/a-mans-guide-to-pregnancy-how-to-deliver-a-baby-in-a-pinch/

@midnight1983 how's it going? We seem to have beaten the sore nipples but alas not the 2am party time spirit, coffee is the only thing keeping me upright at this point!

midnight1983 · 04/11/2018 17:59

@freiasbathtub it's going really well thank you! My first son didn't sleep and this new baby... Sleeps really well 👌 I thought a sleeping baby was a myth! My four year old has regressed a but behaviour wise but it's early days... How are your 2 am parties going?

@meetthewildes hope baby has now arrived...

@unicornchaser how are you doing?

twobambinos · 05/11/2018 10:03

@meetthewildes hoping you have had the baby.

meetthewildes · 09/11/2018 07:10

Thank you for checking in, @twobambinos, @freiasbathtub and @midnight1983.

Vita Marina Calliope was born at 05.50 on the 7th, at exactly 42 weeks and following four days of labour. She weighed 8lbs 1oz and has a head like a British bulldog, prompting two hours in theatre repairing the damage she left in her wake. It was - bizarrely - a wonderful experience though on paper it looks horrid, and she is a delightfully sweet and easy baby. We love her very much.

twobambinos · 09/11/2018 11:15

Congratulations @meetthewildes hope you are recovering well. Welcome new baby girl.

My boy is over 5 weeks now and it feels like he has been here forever. He suprised us last night with an 8 hour sleep. We couldn't believe it. Until now it has been an absolute max of 4 hours but closer to 3. Feeling much more human today after that.
