@Murphyrocks I was on the phone calling from work 🤦‍♀️

NatashaRomanov · 06/08/2018 22:26

Hi.
I am 8+2 today, EDD of 16th March.
Second pregnancy, our not-so-little PFB is 8 and a half now! I have PCOS, and circumstances meant we weren't able to try again before this year.
Still can't quite believe it happened. Took two years to get pregnant last time, 5 months this time! Shock

But I feel so awful. I am not being sick, but I feel sick all day. I don't know how to make it stop. Sometimes eating something sweet and sitting down helps, but as soon as I move, the feeling is back. I wonder if it's the heat making it worse?
And my boobs! Last time, they didn't change much until late pregnancy, and they didn't hurt until my milk came in. This time, they constantly ache, and I have already gone up a cup size!

May we all have safe, happy pregnancies Smile

wordsmithereens · 06/08/2018 22:47

Congratulations @NatashaRomanov! That must feel like such a blessing after the uncertainty that comes with pcos. Really hope you have a healthy pregnancy.

Totally hear you on the sickness - I'm currently sat on the balcony because my DH is doing the washing up and I cannot bear the smell of the washing up liquid. Things I could not imagine that would happen in my life...

toastfiend · 06/08/2018 23:08

Got my 12 week scan date through today for next Tuesday! Very excited and rather nervous all at the same time.

It was a nice pick-me-up, really. I've started looking at options for loaning my horse out whilst I'm pregnant and on maternity leave and, daftly, I'm feeling very emotional about letting him go. I'm aware it's the biggest first world problem going. It's only for 18 months to 2 years or so, but I adore him and have had horses all my life. It will be weird not having one. I know it's the right decision, though, come the winter I won't want to be struggling through all the mud and ice in the dark and I'm already finding lifting huge containers of water and lugging all the heavy stuff around to be quite taxing.

Hope everyone is feeling OK today. I've had a long weekend am feeling much better, hopefully it continues when I'm back at work tomorrow!

pushit · 07/08/2018 08:01

@toastfiend mines next Tuesday too!!

I've not had a horse but I totally get how much connected to animals it's possible to get, and having to make the decision to let them go for a bit must be really hard. My friend had to part with her dog as couldn't cope with a pup and a baby. Thankfully the family who adopted the dog needed to give it back after 18months so turned out perfectly.
Could you still see your horse from time to time?

Newbie2703 · 07/08/2018 08:09

Has anybody got any tips on simple healthy snacks for when your feeling really sick. All I'm managing is toast at the minute and I'm so worried I'm not getting enough goodness !

pushit · 07/08/2018 08:24

@Newbie2703 sometimes I try a teeny bit of healthy food as the thought of it is gross but lush in reality. Like grapefruit, cherry tomatoes, watermelon. Grapes I find are wonderful at taking away nausea. But it's so personal. If toast is all you can manage, don't worry too much. It won't last long. Xx

Newbie2703 · 07/08/2018 08:28

Thankyou @pushit I'll give some of them ago. I keep thinking of meals I can eat and it puts me off haven't really thought of just trying to nibble little things on there own :)

BadBadBeans · 07/08/2018 08:32

Wow, I misplaced my phone over the weekend and I've missed loads on here!

@Wineandchoccy what a great scan - hope you are feeling very reassured! I'll be having one at a similar gestation for the Harmony so I hope it will be as clear!

@frenchgal I felt the same when I found out my first was a boy. I had always, always pictured myself with a daughter as my eldest - probably because I was the eldest. Also, my mum, when she was ill (she died of cancer a long, long time ago), had visualised herself being alive and seeing me have children - and in her visualisation I had a little girl with dark curly hair and was pregnant with a second. So I sort of took on her visualisation, and I was fairly shocked when I found out I was having a boy! But honestly, it really does not matter once they're born. DS is a gorgeous little poppet and I wouldn't have him any other way.

I'll be honest here though, I would quite like a girl this time round. If it's a boy I will love them just as much, OBVIOUSLY, but selfishly, I would like the experience of having a daughter as well. We shall see :)

@Murphyrocks sorry your DS has been acting out a bit as well. We've been pretty hardline on behaviour over the last few days and although it hasn't stopped him hitting, he has stopped biting (I hope) and he is also saying sorry slightly more readily.

@toastfiend awh, that must be hard to have to loan your horse out. Hope you find someone lovely to take care of him.

@Newbie2703 can you manage any fruit? I'm finding fruit really helpful - cool and sweet and hydrating - but I don't think I feel as sick as some of you guys. I've not actually vomited. Sorry you're struggling. Last time I used the Dr Karg's pumpkinseed & cheese crackers which you can get in a lot of supermarkets - they were very easy to nibble on but a bit more nutritious than ordinary crackers. The other thing I've been eating is some little baby biscuits I make for DS - they are a mixture of peanut butter (a couple of tablespoons), mashed bananas (2), an egg (beaten), and enough porridge oats to mix in and make a sticky sort of dough. Bake them in the oven at 180 till they are firm. They don't taste very strong (to me) - they're not particularly sweet - and I find them quite stomach-settling.

@NatashaRomanov Welcome! I also supsect the heat is making me feel worse. My first trimester with DS was over the autumn and into the winter, and I think that was easier.

My boobs have started to get tender and grow a bit now. Waving goodbye mentally to my body for the next eighteen months or so! I really hated my boobs growing last time and I was so happy when they went back down after I reduced breastfeeding. I felt like they didn't belong to me when they were big! Very weird.

Newbie2703 · 07/08/2018 08:38

@BadBadBeans thankyou that's some great advice. I stomached some strawberries last night but tried to not get a wiff of them it seems as soon as I smell anything I can't stomach it. The homemade biscuits seem good too ! I might go and get some crackers. I have ginger biscuits but they always seem so thick and crunchy.

hamandpease · 07/08/2018 08:44

Oooo @toastfiend @pushit getting super close!!!! 🤗🤗🤗

Bluebelltulip · 07/08/2018 09:05

badbadbeans those biscuits sound good I might give them a try DD will probably like them too.

ladycarlotta · 07/08/2018 09:14

@Newbie2703 I am also having Dr Karg's crackers - they work for me. DP wakes up to find me nibbling them in the night sometimes. They do bags of mini pieces too which are quite handy.

@Frenchgal congratulations on a little boy! Can totally understand feeling a bit discombobulated now your expectations have to change, but he'll be gorgeous. I've always quite fancied having a girl - and the only babies I've really been close to are girls, so I don't have much experience of boys to imagine what it might be like - but the way I increasingly see it, parenting will be such a massive new adventure that the baby's sex will be pretty much neither here nor there.

Thanks all for the lovely congrats on the house. I'm a bit worried as accountant hasn't prepared my second year of sole trader taxes (and I wouldn't even expect them til October); the mortgage broker had initially said that only one year of taxes would give me a slightly limited pool of available lenders but it would be OK; now she's saying we really need 2 years, which I just can't provide. I can supply a statement of all this year's incomings but I don't know if that'll be any help at all.

Crapping myself that the sale is going to fall through because of this. I really don't want that!

Mazlin · 07/08/2018 10:10

@frankiefumbles could I have details to be added to the fb group please? Thanks!

Angelmiracle · 07/08/2018 10:20

@NatashaRomanov I'm the same hate moving around but feel constantly nibbling helps. Apples and oranges do well.

How exciting @pushit and @toastfiend 😄
I'm still 4 weeks off yet! I'm sorry you'll have to loan out your lovely horse but just think he'll be happy and well looked after and you'll be so busy when baby comes.

I was going to tag you last night @Badbadbeans thought you were missing 😉 Homemade biscuits sound great. I agree my boobs were already big mow they're just in the way 😂

It becomes a joke the stuff lenders require but hopefully the mortgage broker will give good advice. Could you get unaudited accounts prepared and adjust the year end? Accountants have to do it all the time.

@frenchgal we didn't find out what we were having with DS although my instincts and everyone and their mother told me my bump was low for a boy. But as everyone said - when he was born we were both so overcome with emotion that the little baby was our flesh and blood- you really won't care when you have him!

I'm feeling like this 1 is a girl which would be great but I'm not bothered either way. If we have another DS I'll want to try for no.3 for a girl 😄

@ladycarlotta meant to tag you for the above post too!

@Newbie2703 I worried about the nutrition side of things as well (and you've got some great tips and hope they work!), but when I told my GP she basically said not to worry, baby is effectively a parasite and will take what it needs from you - you have reserves! So I focused mainly on keeping my supplement down. There's also interesting research that morning sickness is actually an evolutionary adaptation because humans have such a wide, 'risky' diet compared to other animals. So I reckon something about it must work.

@ladycarlotta Fingers crossed on the house purchase! hoping the mortgage adviser is just dotting the is and crossing the ts - it's such a stressful process!

Murphyrocks · 07/08/2018 10:36

@Mazlin unfortunately frankiefumbles had a mc and has left the group, I'm an admin on the fb group though so can add you if you send me a message on here with a description of your profile pic.

@Newbie2703 I found in the height of the nausea the little kiddie pots of fruit in jelly went down OK, and figured there had to be at least some goodness in the fruit! Sipping fruit juice diluted with sparkling water was good too for a few vitamins. If it makes you feel any better my Dr told me when your sickness is that bad you should forget everything you know about healthy eating and just focus on simple carbs and sugar so you don't overload your digestive system. Baby will get all they need regardless at this stage, particularly if you keep taking your prenatal vitamins.

@hamandpease ah fair enough, yes they would generally want you to have them handy if calling - they are surprisingly fond of the notes! Why it can't all be done electronically I've no idea!

@BadBadBeans he's not been bad the last couple of days, still lovely 99% of the time but just having the odd lash out for attention. Trying not to rise to it and give him attention for good behaviour instead but it's so hard, particularly in my sensitive emotional state!

Wineandchoccy · 07/08/2018 10:44

It’s so warm and stuffy today and I have loads of appointments at work Sad Wish I could have a little nap

toastfiend · 07/08/2018 10:52

Thanks all. Some people are interested in him who seem lovely, which is great, and I just have to keep reminding myself that it's not forever and I'll have him back soon enough. Lugging several 30+kg water containers around every day worries me a bit, so it will take away the stress factor of that kind of thing at least! I figure since I was doing that and weight lifting before pregnancy that it's fine, but I'd prefer not to be, even so!

@pushit how exciting! I'm both excited and nervous for mine, surprised mine is going to be so early as I'll only be about 11 weeks then, but they must know that, so I'm guessing it's fine.

@Newbie2703 I ate vegemite on crumpets pretty much solely for the first few weeks, we had an early scan and bean seemed to be doing OK on that. My diet is a little more varied now, but I still have days where beige carbs are all I can face. The midwife seemed happy enough with that, just warned me of the dangers of putting on too much weight, but that's only because my BMI was slightly high to start with. As it is, I've lost some weight as can only tolerate food in small amounts at a time.

@ladycarlotta fingers crossed for you for the house purchase. When we bought ours my income had been all over the place as I was self-employed at the time, although am not now. Our mortgage adviser was really helpful and we managed to get it all sorted in the end. Stressful, but so, so worth it!

Newbie2703 · 07/08/2018 11:03

Thankyou all really good advise ! I'll probably worry a little less now :)

Velcro88 · 07/08/2018 11:22

Just had my booking appt with the midwife, and she's referred me for consultant review because my mum had pre-eclampsia and my dad had a DVT and pulmonary embolism. I've also got to take aspirin daily from 13 weeks. Of course, I'm so desperate to make bean a healthy home and give he or she the best start, it feels a bit unfair I'm starting from a higher risk starting point! I guess it's a good thing that I'll be monitored closely though. Feels very exciting to have my mat notes, and thanks for the heads up: I'll remember to keep them on me if I need to call!

Anyone else feel like fundamentally they could be making it all up?? I can't wait to see a (fx) wriggling bean in a couple of weeks.

I'm imagining a boy! Funny how you get these feelings. I guess it helps us make sense of what's happening and makes it easier to imagine. I know mum was convinced both my sister and I were boys though; guess only time will tell!

Hoping the cooler weather we're expecting gives everyone a bit of reprieve in their symptoms.

Murphyrocks · 07/08/2018 11:52

@Velcro88 good stuff about the booking appointment, I'm consultant led too due to some complications with ds and trying to see it as a good thing that I'll be getting more hands-on care. I've started showing now which definitely makes it feel more real, broke out the maternity gear over the weekend! Took ages to show with ds but guess the muscles are more relaxed now.

LittleKitty1985 · 07/08/2018 12:03

Hi everyone! I'm moving over from the February group because I've just had a scan (with my harmony test) and my due date has been pushed back 4 days to March 2nd. Nice to meet you all! x

Wineandchoccy · 07/08/2018 12:21

We are out on Friday night at a concert I may need to buy a pair of maternity jeans I feel a bit blob like in normal clothes.

LittleKitty1985 Welcome to the March group

Velcro88 it does make it more real once you have your notes. Good that they will keep a close eye on you
