we put the offer in! Concerningly, haven't heard back (did it via email) so I will call them today.

@BadBadBeans maybe i'll try to sea bands again. I don't think I felt better wearing them, but I did have a really good day when I took them off...

@toastfiend my nails are great too! I've knackered them with nail varnish this year and they got really flaky and weak, but they seem to be restoring themselves. Pleased about that as I've always had strong nails and was feeling guilty.

In terms of weird symptoms, I don't think I've had a single mosquito bite all summer. I usually react really badly - like huge inch-across hard lumps - but nothing this year. Either I don't get bitten or I don't react. But that may be coincidental. Has anyone noticed similar?

ladycarlotta · 03/08/2018 08:40

also, yeah I can't hold my tummy in any more. I don't think I have a bump per se, but I definitely look like I've been at the biscuits.

pushit · 03/08/2018 08:43

@ladycarlotta I was wondering the same, no bites since being pregnant... weird!! And my friend got bitten loads the other day so I was expecting them. Hope the Spanish mozzies keep away too as I don't think we can wear repellent and I'm heading there at the end of the month!
Hope you hear back about your offer x

Cas90 · 03/08/2018 09:14

Hi all my due date GP thinks is 30/03/18 I am so excited but so worried. My sister went to her 12 week scan a few years ago and there was no heartbeat, just dreading the same thing happening to me x

Wineandchoccy · 03/08/2018 09:27

I feel so ill trying to get a new prescription or advice for a different sort of iron tablets is very frustrating rang the GP they said ring my midwife tried all 4 numbers in my book to eventually get through to somebody who said ring GP and reception said ok I will put you through to the pharmacy who don’t actually open until 10am Angry
Give me strength!

ladycarlotta · 03/08/2018 09:30

Oh shit, getting ready for my booking-in and can't find my forms anywhere!! They are going to hate me aren't they?

TheWanderlust · 03/08/2018 09:47

You have forms for booking in @ladycarlotta ?? I wasn't given any to fill in before my appointment today

ladycarlotta · 03/08/2018 10:50

@theWanderlust I think they're just to save time at the appointment, and probably non-vital. Luckily I found them at the 11th hour.

Nightmanagerfan · 03/08/2018 10:56

@toastfiends @ladycarlotta yes my nails are amazing! I hadn’t put it down to pregnancy until reading your post... we were on holiday for a week and I had to cut them twice, very odd. My hair on the other hand is a greasy, straggly mess and has grown lots - must get a haircut before I’m too tired to sit in the chair.

Back in London Last night and the heat and lack of air is awful - I’m really missing the air conditioned hotel as I slept so much better there. Might bite the bullet and order a fan today - we’ve been putting it off thinking the heat won’t last, but have been saying that since May!

I got my appointments through - booking in on 18th Aug and scan on 10th Sept. My appointments were on a Saturday and first thing Monday last time when everything went wrong so it feels a bit odd.

Couple of questions - anyone doing harmomy or similar in London - can I ask where you’re going?

Also my boobs don’t hurt at all and seem to have stayed normal sized. Last time I had already bought new bras at this point. Anyone else not had that symptom?

Angelmiracle · 03/08/2018 11:09

@Cas90 I worry too as waiting on scan at 11 weeks on 4th Sept. Sometimes I do not feel like I'm pregnant! Also keeping the secret makes it feel not real.

@TheWanderlust
@ladycarlotta

You've just reminded me I have a form to fill out and return by post before booking in!! But you're right it's just to give them a head start at booking in.

@nightmanagerfan yes totally me on the boobs! This time last pg they were at least a size up and I could barely wear a sports bra, this time they're fairly similarly sized and no real sensitivity or discomfort at all. Bizarre! Consulting Dr Google (step away, I know!) apparently they tend to grow more with boys so clinging onto hope that might mean I'm growing an additional x chromosome this time!

@Angelmiracle it's cheaper than buying those expensive commercial belly butters and got far more active ingredient! Quite a time investment doing the massaging in each night but worth it to still be confident flashing my belly post-birth! Although given I'll be mid thirties at that point this time I might be past the age where I can get away with it anyway! Essential oils were all from ebay but checked out reviews on the brands first to make sure I knew what I was getting.

peonylover22 · 03/08/2018 11:34

@nightmanagerfan I’m having the Panorama test done at the Portland Hospital next week.
No boob growth here for me, second time round. They’d gone up 2 cup sizes by this point last time. I was initially worried but actually I think this might be quite common in second or more pregnancies. My mother said she only had a slight increase towards the end in pregnancies 2, 3 and 4.

Cas90 · 03/08/2018 11:42

@Angelmiracle thanks for replying. I'm really considering paying for an early scan, am I mad?

Angelmiracle · 03/08/2018 12:06

@Cas90 your not mad lots of the ladies have had them! They have all said they're amazing to see. I'm trying to be patient 🙈 but will be telling my sister before then as she leaves the country. Then I think should I do an early scan to be sure 😨

Sat waiting for my booking in appointment. Feeling so unbelievably anxious 😧

MistakenHoliday · 03/08/2018 12:48

@Nightmanagerfan same here with the boobs! They expanded massively last time but exactly the same this time. It was my boobs that were the giveaway last pregnancy!

@TheWanderlust good luck at booking in!

ladycarlotta · 03/08/2018 14:01

welcome @Cas90! Hope your pregnancy is going well. I had an early scan (well, two in fact - one at the EPU because of a few concerns, one private one because why the hell not), and I did feel a bit mad about it. But I've had 3 miscarriages in the past and I just really wanted to know everything is OK. I think if I get through this one all right I won't be so bothered about extra scans with a subsequent pregnancy, but for me the scans were so reassuring. It's nice to know that something's really in there, and to be able to share the news a bit earlier.

There's nothing wrong with either choice - to wait or to scan early - but do whichever gives you peace of mind. If part of enjoying this pregnancy is having scans, go for it!

BadBadBeans · 03/08/2018 14:13

@Wineandchoccy have you tried a liquid iron supplement like Spatone? I found it was far more gentle on my digestive system.

I thought the nausea had gone this morning and had started to worry, but it hit me smack while I was driving home from playgroup and it was all I could do to carry on driving! DS then had the world's most protracted lunch and preparation for afternoon nap when I all I wanted to do was to lie down! To be fair to the little chap though he did manage to have two poos in the grown up toilet for the first time ever, so I was quite impressed! (Great not having to clean up a poopy nappy when you feel sick!)

Hope booking in has gone well @ladycarlotta. I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and nobody has sent me an appointment yet. I think if I haven't heard by this time next week, I shall chase.

ladycarlotta · 03/08/2018 14:37

@Badbadbeans I'm 9+6 today so there is still plenty of time, but I agree you want to at least have a date for it soon. Do chase. With mine the midwife made the appointment with me on the phone after I called up, but I know it varies so much from trust to trust.

Booking in was fine, completely boring and tbh I don't even know why I had to fill out the form as she barely looked at it and just asked me the same questions to put them into the computer. Maybe it's just to make sure you've checked the details rather than umming and erring on the day.

One good thing - usually they find it really really hard to find my shy veins, and stick me in about 4 different places before managing to coax any blood out of me at all. But today it was absolutely pouring out! Made it so much less of an ordeal than it often is - thanks pregnancy!

Congratulations to your boy and his grown-up poos. And to you, of course!

Wineandchoccy · 03/08/2018 14:50

BadBadBeans yes I have taken that in the past might have to splash out and get some though I feel rotten.

I have a prescription to collect a different sort on Tuesday the chemist wouldn’t let me buy over the counter I shouldn’t have mentioned that I was pregnant,

Orville82 · 03/08/2018 16:26

So I’ve just spent the last hour trying to find out if anyone’s fancies giving me a booking appointment. Apparently not! I’m out of area for my hospital but surely SOMEBODY should be able to give me an answer. I didn’t have it until 14 weeks last time because I rocked up for my scan and they wondered why I had no notes and no blood work. Then they indicated it was my fault! I’ve finally managed to narrow down the department and clinic I need to call at the hospital but they closed at 4pm so I have to call on Monday when I’ll be 9 weeks Angry. All of this just because the hospital has a good reputation - their out patient care need some work though!

Ironically I’ve already booked my 16wk appointment and my 12wk scan came throughout this morning! Annoyingly it fell in the middle of when we’re away for 5 days so I’ve been rebooked for the week after on Sept 4th. Good job I have a cheeky private scan booked for next Wednesday as im not sure I could wait that’s long without knowing everything isn’t progressing ok. Sorry for the rant - I’m very highly strung right now!

HidCat · 03/08/2018 19:02

@Cas90 it's a common worry. My miscarriage was confirmed at the 12 week scan too so feeling quite anxious. I had my booking in appointment today and the midwife was lovely and tried to reassure me. All ok as far as far as she was concerned except for low blood pressure (a long term problem for me) but there's nothing they can do about that.

luckyleeds · 03/08/2018 20:56

Hi everyone. Please can I join? I'm 5+5 and it's my second. Already have a 15 month old dd who has just gone to bed phew. Time for corrie catch up and a cuppa x
