Fun little game for those who've had scans:

www.babybpm.com

Drastically unscientific I'd guess!

@hamandpease they refused to give me a bpm at either of my scans, just saw the little heart flickering at about the right speed. Pretty sure there isn't anything to the heart rate theory though!

hamandpease · 02/08/2018 08:20

Oh @Murphyrocks I wonder why?

No it's nonsense I know it's a boy 😝

BadBadBeans · 02/08/2018 08:46

@Jenfur sorry you are feeling sick but it is reassuring isn't it?! I did feel icky after I got up this morning but then I found my sickness bands. Maybe it's psychosomatic but I feel better again after putting them on. They are a massive 'I'M PREGNANT!' flag though aren't they?! Quite difficult to wear surreptitiously in a work environment I would imagine!

@hamandpease I am convinced this one is a girl. Then again, I was convinced DS was a girl!

ladycarlotta · 02/08/2018 09:17

@Badbadbeans luckily it's not too much of a wreck. It's a probate sale, the last owners were in since 1992, so there's a lot of freshening up and modernising to do, but nothing drastic. The basic survey is really positive but obviously we'll get an in-depth one done. I don't think there's much we could do to it that won't make a profit in the long-term. It's such a little gift. Naturally I had anxiety dreams all night about loads of people putting offers in last night, so I guess maybe we just need to do that...

@MurphyRocks @hamandpease I didn't get a BPM either. I wish I'd known to ask about it. For peace of mind, and also for this kind of nonsense Grin

Murphyrocks · 02/08/2018 09:28

@ladycarlotta I asked both times and they said it was too early to get an accurate bpm! Confusing but figured it didn't really matter too much.

orangekitkat13 · 02/08/2018 10:06

Just had my booking in appointment. About what I was expecting, just loads of questions. Hopefully I'll get my scan date through soon!

ladycarlotta · 02/08/2018 10:28

@orangekitkat13 ah, thanks for the reminder. My booking-in is tomorrow, and I need to round up all the bits for it, including a urine sample at some point. Sounds like it'll be deadly dull, but hasten the scan and the 'officialness'.

thefirsttimer · 02/08/2018 10:39

@ladycarlotta good luck with the house, it sounds like a great opportunity!

@Murphyrocks same here, I was told they won't measure it until at least 10 weeks. Was a bit disappointed to not find out!

orangekitkat13 · 02/08/2018 11:02

@ladycarlotta yeah it was pretty dull but nice to be in the system now. I just need to try not to lose my notes and sample pot for next time now!

HidCat · 02/08/2018 11:21

@ladycarlotta mine is tomorrow too. Hit 8 weeks today so feeling more positive (good nights sleep last night helped!). Still a bit uneasy but reminding myself that the chances of having a MC at this point twice in a row are pretty low.

Jenlou1992 · 02/08/2018 11:25

Woke up this morning feeling worst than ever. I almost fainted at work the other day too! . Seems to settle after a couple of hours . Don't know if my blood pressure is low or my blood sugar . Either way I am just laying on the sofa for a bit today .

Told my boss at work yesterday too as I have my booking in appt on Monday. She was happy for me . Altho I thought she would secretly be upset as 2 have just gone off on maternity leave last week .

I am 8 weeks today according to LMP. I just want my scan so I can make sure everything measures up . I keep thinking I will get my scan on my birthday which would be amazing . 5th of September .

Me and my partner are also in the process of house hunting . It's so stressful. I am still at my mum's altho I stay with him in his flat most days of the week. No place like home tho right ? Actually feel really nervous about is moving in together . I'm such a home bird and the thought of not living with my mum scares me . I know I sound so pathetic but everything is now moving so quick

Marmite2018 · 02/08/2018 11:35

Oh @Jenlou1992 I'm with you. Poor you! I've just been sick again. The sickness seems to have ramped up since I've got back from holiday and settled into not doing much during the school holidays. I feel pretty guilty for not making it off the sofa but I'm too scared to go out in case I'm sick!

Hope you feel better after some sofa time too. I'm thinking of putting on a film and dozing but I did that yesterday and ended up sleeping for three hours!!!

Newbie2703 · 02/08/2018 17:24

Gone for it and just booked our reassurance scan at 8 weeks. Cannot wait :) feeling so sick today, I normally love garlic bread just walked into the kitchen and had to run back out because the smell nearly made me vom :'( the sickness is definitely here !

SquirtlesMumAgain · 02/08/2018 18:41

Smells are so bad at the moment. Even flowers are making me feel horribly sick!

Wineandchoccy · 02/08/2018 18:50

I had to abandon my shopping earlier and dash to Sainsbury’s toilets Sad The iron tablets don’t help they are making me feel lousy

toastfiend · 02/08/2018 19:06

Sorry for all those feeling so sick. It sucks. Sad I'm feeling a little better today but still queasy and 'not right'. On the plus side, my nails are growing like crazy. I've always had short, stubby, manky nails and now they're all long and elegant looking. This may be the only time in my life that I have relatively grown up looking hands...

Had a good night's sleep for the first time in what feels like forever last night, which I think is contributing to my feeling better. Been having some crazy dreams. The night before last I woke up standing on the bed screaming Confused Which was a slightly alarming way to awaken myself...I can't even remember what the nightmare was! Quite glad DH is away. Poor bugger would have had a heart attack!

Angelmiracle · 02/08/2018 19:50

@toastfiend haha that would be terrifying! I'd give myself a heart attack. DH woke me up the week I got my BFP grinding my teeth it felt horrible!

I'm fairly mundanely normal today. Last time garlic made me run and gag I'm wondering will it kick in this time? I'm 6+4 now. My ovaries are aching a lot more each day which is annoying.

Come 6pm you could not scrape me off the floor with exhaustion though 💤💤

BadBadBeans · 02/08/2018 20:01

@ladycarlotta put that offer in! :D

@Jenlou1992 yes, suddenly life does move quickly! Nine months sounds like ages but you don't even know you're pregnant for the first one and, although they feel interminable at the time, the next eight will be gone in a flash. Don't worry though, we're all frantically running to stand still alongside you!

@SquirtlesMumAgain yep me too with the smells. I've just got over a two-week cold and suddenly I can smell everything, and it is terribly disappointing because nothing smells good!

@toastfiend Standing up?! That is some impressive nightmare!

I've been wearing anti-sickness bands today. I don't know if it's that they've worked or that my sickness has suddenly abated, but honestly I have felt so much better and have had the most productive day. I would recommend trying them - especially if, like me, you've just got that 'travel sick' feeling rather than throwing up. I don't know if they work on actual throwing up?!

However I then cried over dinner at the state of my life and the fact that I no longer fully use my once rather capable brain Hmm. Hormones getting to me. I literally could not stop weeping over my stuffed courgette.

Angelmiracle · 02/08/2018 21:01

I get cold very easily and wrap up in layers it's very unlike me. I've been like this from the beginning of pregnancy. Is it just tiredness anyone feel the same?

OP posts:
Murphyrocks · 02/08/2018 21:29

@Angelmiracle your body temperature actually goes up when you're pregnant so yes I'd suggest that's a low metabolism from tiredness/low blood sugar/illness etc.

@BadBadBeans I'm with you on baby brain, I somehow managed to put the dishwasher on this afternoon only 1/3 full (I'm pretty environmentally conscious and never run it less than full) and have literally no recollection whatsoever of doing it! Think I must be going insane! I also find the sickness bands quite good with nausea.

@toastfiend that must have been so freaky! Get yourself a massive pregnancy pillow and you won't be able to work yourself out of it 😜

Murphyrocks · 02/08/2018 21:53

Also given I'm now definitely starting to show I made the homemade belly butter I used in my last pg this morning - it was a bit of a religion for me but I came out 100% stretch mark free despite knowing I'm prone to them (got them on hips/bbs from puberty) so onto it again this time! Here's the recipe if anyone's interested:

Bozley47 · 02/08/2018 21:58

@Angelmiracle I am similar with the cold. Currently in bed with a hot water bottle despite living in warm devon! I think it’s tiredness too though as didn’t get home from work until past midnight last night.

Angelmiracle · 02/08/2018 22:28

@Bozley47 oh hun it's horrible. I'm in bed with fleecey dressing gown on! That's awful late I can't cope with late nights now makes me feel physically sick. Got up made toast and jam with a cup of weak tea it has helped a bit. I keep forgetting to eat through the day. I'll be rushing around and realise its 5/6 hrs since I last ate and it's not good for you at all!!
