@Cas90 congratulations and welcome!

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/due-date-calculator/

The nhs link above can help you with your date based on the start of your last period. It also has good info on what happens next. I was able to see my GP right away and she referred me for my Booking In appointment. Ask at GP reception when the best time is - some don't see you until you're further along. My hospital website has a Self Referral form which most should have. You can fill this out and you will get a date through for your Booking in appointment. Good luck 🤞

@BadBadBeans and @ladycarlotta: me too! I feel so, so awful. I'm not freelance, but at the moment my work sort of works like that (as in, no one else knows or minds what I'm doing most of the time so long as I come up with the goods eventually) and I am getting NOTHING done. I'm beginning to panic. And feel really guilty that my DD is in holiday club and I'm not actually getting any work done!

I feel sick, think I'm hungry, eat something, feel better for about 5 minutes, and then it starts again. I've also gained too much weight - at least 3 lbs already - and am feeling too rough to exercise. All in all just feeling a bit shit.

I think I'm going to at least try to go for a run or a swim before I pick up DD to see if it helps. wish me luck...

toastfiend · 31/07/2018 15:24

I was celebrating the nausea beginning to ease off and my appetite coming back a couple of days ago, but i was premature in that as I feel absolutely horrendous again today. I feel hungry constantly and when I eat the nausea eases temporarily, but within half an hour it's ramped right back up again. I'm at work and think I must have just been sitting at my desk staring into space most of the day trying not to throw up. Just want to go to bed! I have so much to do as well, but feeling too awful to concentrate on anything. Sad Sympathies with anyone else feeling dodgy.

peonylover22 · 31/07/2018 15:45

With the constipation, I was really struggling too. I’ve swapped my pregnancy vitamins for just folic acid and vitamin D (so no extra iron) and that seems to have done the trick. Of course not an option if you’re anaemic though.

pushit · 31/07/2018 16:00

@MoosterTheMoose I'm very similar. Eating loads to ease the sickness but putting on weight like crazy and unable to exercise. Gonna beg hubby to let me go out for a swim tonight. I find it eases the nausea and burns a few calories x

hamandpease · 31/07/2018 16:15

Thank you @Velcro88 I'm
Sure it's fine just need to see it again I think

Bas27 · 31/07/2018 16:16

@toastfiend I feel like I'm channelling that at the moment. Staring into space trying not to throw up sucks!

sherbertdibdab · 31/07/2018 16:53

I'm lucky in some ways, I'm off as a teacher for the summer, but it's more knackering looking after the toddler than being at work! Though last time round I was dashing out of class to throw up so better to be at home if it starts again.
We're waiting for the NHS 12 week scan, hoping to get my date through in the next week. But super jealous of these early pictures, might do a quick google to tempt me further!

Jenfur · 31/07/2018 17:10

@RachaelT We're also waiting for the NHS scan but I feel like I won't believe I'm really pregnant until I see the scan and see that everything's alright.

I'm feeling so rough at the moment. Its been about a week of feeling hungry and sick, not feeling like I can stomach anything, forcing some food down and feeling better for 5 minutes and then feeling nauseous again but not being able to tell if I'm sick or hungry. I'm also so tired I want to cry.

Is everyone taking pregnancy vitamins? I'm only taking folic acid as that was all I took last time - are other vitamins required?

hamandpease · 31/07/2018 17:19

@Jenfur vit d is the other big one x

TheWanderlust · 31/07/2018 17:24

Also waiting for 12 week scan... but that's another 3 weeks away 😅 I feel like an impatient teenager at the moment... just want to see my baby and know that things are okay!!

TheOneWithTheBaby · 31/07/2018 17:38

I am considering stopping the combined vitamins. I am so constipated it's ridiculous. I drink as much as I can and try to eat fruit and veg.
DH bought me prune juice but just the thought of it make sure me feel queasy.

sherbertdibdab · 31/07/2018 17:39

@Jenfur yes Vit D and apparently as babies are due in the winter it should be an extra large dose. But I can't remember exactly how much the midwife said it should be!

Wineandchoccy · 31/07/2018 17:39

I’m taking vitamin d and folic acid plus I have been prescribed iron because my iron levels were very low following my booking in appointment

Marmite2018 · 31/07/2018 18:14

I am very tempted to swap tomorrow. I am in so much pain with it and my tummy is huge and sore! Not too mention I've had a bit of bleeding with it too (sorry, way TMI!!) Confusedjust what is needed on top of nausea!

WildFlower2018 · 31/07/2018 18:15

This thread moves far too quick for me so I'm not caught up but I just had to post. I'm at the end of my tether.

I'm 8+4.

If I eat or drink anything at all, I get terrible acid reflux, gas/burping absolutely non stop, heavy bloated stomach, sometimes vomiting acid too.

I've tried eating bland things, tiny portions, healthy things - nothing makes a difference.

I feel like my entire digestive system has just stopped working.

Gaviscon helps but only so much. I just asked the pharmacist for some ranitidine and they said no, to see GP. So that pissed me off as I'm sure Zantac is safe in pregnancy.

I'm at the end of my tether. Anybody else experiencing this?

pushit · 31/07/2018 18:32

@RachaelT I'm another waiting for my 12 week scan. Still 2 weeks away!! The nearer it gets the more worried I am

Murphyrocks · 31/07/2018 18:42

@WildFlower2018 I'm so sorry you're feeling so rough. Sounds very similar to what to what I was having a couple of weeks ago - went to see GP and she said to ignore everything I know about healthy eating and to just concentrate on simple carbs and sugar to not overload my digestive system. Suggested white toast, biscuits, bananas, white pasta, chocolate if I can manage it. Did help a little and it's not starting to ease anyway. I'm 9+1. She did also sign me off work for a week so could be worth a try!

For those that asked here's the link for my pregnancy pillow: QUEEN ROSE Full Body Pregnancy Pillow & Maternity Pillow with Replaceable and Washable Cover (165 x 80 cm, Jersey, Grey) www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0793N69N2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_s1jyBb878C0E4?tag=mumsnetforum-21

I got the largest option as I'm quite tall and found the old one wasn't long enough to support down to my ankles, and the Jersey as its lovely and soft. Would highly recommend, decent pillow and maternity bra were my best investments last time!

newatbabystuff · 31/07/2018 19:27

Wow so much chat to catch up on! Sympathising massively with everyone suffering the nausea - I had it really badly a couple of weeks ago and whilst it’s a lot better now (9+4) i’m still like clockwork every morning needing a good old retch, I just keep telling myself this will pass. Feel so sorry for anyone who deals with it the whole way through.

Is anyone considering moving house whilst pregnant? We’re wondering whether to move before or after baby... we are in a 1 bed flat and could make it work but itd be a lot easier with a bit more space for prams and such. I’m just not sure if it’s madness to consider it!

Nightmanagerfan · 31/07/2018 19:37

Flowers to those who are feeling rough. Hope you all feel better soon. @newatbabystuff we aren’t planning to move immediately as we have a spare room, but do live in quite a small second floor London flat with no lift and no where to store a pram. Baby is in with you for first six months or so so might be ok for a while?

Is anyone else overcome by crappy hormones making them feel awful? I don’t have many symptoms yet but am feeling teary, fat (swear I’ve put on half a stone) and generally crap about myself. I’m on holiday too so should be having a lovely time. Almost cried at lunch today about nothing (poor DH). I’m sure it’s the hormones!

Nightmanagerfan · 31/07/2018 19:39

@murphyrocks flipping heck look at the size of that pillow! Do you have an enormous bed or does DP get relegated to the spare room? It’s massive! (But does look v v comfy - I’ll give you that!)

Murphyrocks · 31/07/2018 19:43

@nightmanagerfan to be fair it does look bigger in that picture than in real life! It's actually more compact than the one I had last time (the summer infant one) and does fit on my side of our king size bed. Dh confirms he was not disturbed!

Wineandchoccy · 31/07/2018 19:58

That pillow looks amazing Grin I bought the dreamgenii pillow last time after a friend recommended it I hated it much preferred a long bolster style pillow I got from Dunelm.

MistakenHoliday · 31/07/2018 20:17

@sherbertdibdab teacher here too! Bit gutted that I'm wasting my holiday feeling sick but it IS better than leaving a class to puke. Probably.

@WildFlower2018 My midwife took one look at me at booking in and told me to see a doctor about anti-sickness tablets. I haven't been yet but am sure the doc could help you out - it does sound like your suffering 🤢

@Murphyrocks I AM BUYING THAT PILLOW.

We're on our holidays at the moment - glamorous Wales - and I'm coping by having a nap every afternoon. Still feel sick, but maybe less when I'm distracted? And not walking too much.

I feel so unhealthy at the moment though; knackered and bloated, definitely lacking the pregnancy glow. I can't wait until this sickness lifts (🤞🏽) and I can start moving a bit more.

Anyway, mustn't grumble, it took a long time to get here so I'm trying not to moan too much 😀

MoosterTheMoose · 31/07/2018 20:48

Well I can report back that a bit of exercise actually helped with the sickness... must remember this!

theonewiththebaby have you tried kiwi fruit for constipation? It was a lifesaver for me last time

On moving, i’d say easier to move while pregnant newatbabystuff - we did last time and it’s was ok, and trying to do so this time too. Might be very different for you but having more space I think helps in the early days if it’s an option for you.

Help me understand the pillows murphyrocks or anyone else! What do you do, lie on your side with one leg on top? I’m a side/front sleeper and struggling with the pressure on my tummy - would it help?
