Hello everyone! I thought I'd start a thread for babies due in April 2019 as I couldn't see an existing post for it.

I'm 29
I have a DS who is 12 months
Due 3 April with DC2

I'm only 3+2 so extremely early! I can't quite believe it but I got a line on a test at 8dpo, and the line is getting darker. I'm very excited, but also very nervous.

Oh totally fluffy I'm crying at everything.
Any time a song comes on that's slightly emotional. When I can't decide on something... It's crazy.
My son is just coming up to 3 so I'm going to wait quite a while. If he was older I'd probably explain earlier.

Welcome new joiners and what a journey @AlexiaB - so pleased for you.

Has anyone had their first doctor's appointment yet and if so what happened? It seems to be different experiences for different people. I've done 5 positive tests now and AF is due today - assuming it doesn't come then I'm going to book an appointment for tomorrow.

Also those having their first - when and how are you going to tell your parents?! Eek!

Footymum81 · 30/07/2018 08:39

Hi, new member here wanting to join you all!
Got my BFP on Saturday so very early days but DH and I are very excited!
@fluffy475 my DD is 14 and I've told her, she knew we were trying and she's got to take over cat litter tray duty now! I have warned her that it's VERY early and it might not work out...
Congratulations to all of you Smile

Fluffy475 · 30/07/2018 08:51

@organised5 the way it works where I am is we have to get forms from the doctors depending on choice of hospital (as there are a few!) fill those out and return and then the midwife books you in at 8 weeks and everything follows from there

@Footymum81 I think I'm erring on the side of telling them as they're older. It's their summer holidays and I don't want it ruined with my mood swings!! If they know what's going on they can become part of it and help me and stuff. Plus ds2 (10) is adhd and can be quite full on at points especially now without the routine of school so thought it might be best he knows to help him make different choices.......plus I just want the excitement of telling them I think!!!! Smile

I told my mum before I told my husband! Not because we’re particularly close, but the fuss she would have kicked up if she wasn’t the first to know would not have been worth it 🙄 then because I we’d told her we told the in laws too. —also my two best friends and my boss and all the girls in my team— I dread to think how many people we’d have to tell if something went wrong. I just can’t keep my mouth shut 🤐🙈

BeeKeeping · 30/07/2018 09:15

Score out fail. -How do you do it?-

Footymum81 · 30/07/2018 09:25

@fluffy475 I've also told my Step sister as she's a midwifery lecturer at our local university and I needed to ask a few things so DD has her auntie to talk to about things too. Funny enough DD is only a year younger than SS was when I was pregnant last time!

@BeeKeeping I think you put 2 small dashes rather than one large like this has it worked?

Treaclepie19 · 30/07/2018 09:49

I've been to the doctor this morning because I was worried about the shoulder pain and spotting. They're just going to confirm pregnancy but it's not needed.

I've told my mom because I needed her to know in case she has to look after my son if I have any appointments or anything.

organised5 · 30/07/2018 10:30

So I just rang the doctor to book an appointment and they said I don't need one! They gave me the website of my local hospital maternity services and told me to self-refer online. I just had to fill in a form and got an email back with lots of pdf booklets and got told a midwife would be in touch to book in my first appointment and scan.

Interesting how it's different everywhere?!

BeeKeeping · 30/07/2018 10:32

Sounds like a good idea to get some reassurance @Trealepie19 especially re the shoulder pain.

I’ve just booked an early viability scan for when I’m 7+2 would be so good to try and see a heartbeat 💗 I’ve spent £51 on much worse things!!

Pitterpatter01 · 30/07/2018 10:37

Congratulations everybody, I have just got my BFP!!! I am 4+2 due on 6th April with my second. So excited!!
I tested at 11.30pm last night because I just had that instinct. I have been waking up with heartburn, have got pains which feel slightly different to AF, and, well I just felt different.
There was a very faint line last night, husband couldn’t see it. I did a digital one this morning and it says the magic word Pregnant.
So excited x

Treaclepie19 · 30/07/2018 11:21

organised you don't need a doctor's appointment here either. No contact until midwife booking appointment unless there are worries.

Beekeeping that was my thinking but she didn't seem concerned.
That's a good price! I'll definitely be booking one, it's such a long wait until 12 weeks and with my son my dating scan wasn't actually until 13+3 so felt forever.
I'm not sure when to book it for... maybe 8 weeks if I can wait that long!

Congratulations pitterpatter :)

Treaclepie19 · 30/07/2018 11:35

The place we went to with my son is only £45 for a scan but only from 8 weeks. I think I'll book one if all is good still.

AlexiaB · 30/07/2018 11:49

Congratulations to all! It's such an exciting time.

I've got early scans booked for 6+2 and 7+4 (IVF clinic scan) just to make sure baby is on track. So far my hpts have been very reassuring. We will do the Harmony/NIPT blood test at 10ish weeks which includes a scan too.

@Treaclepie19 my GP is the same. No contact until the midwife calls around 8 weeks for your booking in appt.

Shk38 · 30/07/2018 13:59

I went to see my GP about something else on Friday and told them I was 4 +5 and she checked my urine for protein, looked at my FRER (I took one at home before my appointment) and told me that FRER were more sensitive then there's and then told me to self refer.

I'm having loads of symptoms, nausea , wind , sore boobs and incredibly tired. So I'm a little concerned as I'm very early on. I don't think I can wait for a scan at 12 weeks. How soon should you have an early pregnancy scan and still see a heart beat.

Husband and I are on holiday in the middle of August and not sure if I should have it done before. If it's good news I can relax on holiday. If it's bad it may ruin our holiday and 1 st wedding anniversary. What

Shk38 · 30/07/2018 13:59

Pressed post too early.

What would you guys do?

Treaclepie19 · 30/07/2018 15:03

At 6 weeks you can sometimes see a heartbeat. By 8 and definitely 10 weeks your chance of miscarriage is extremely reduced.

Treaclepie19 · 30/07/2018 15:28

Food aversion seems to be setting in already. Last time it was awful...
Trying to work out what to have for dinner 🙈

BeeKeeping · 30/07/2018 15:33

Poor you @Treaclepie19.... I’ve got the opposite- need to eat all the time! 🙊

Treaclepie19 · 30/07/2018 15:35

Haha! I'm doing the same because in always starving and feel sick if I don't eat but can never decide what I want. Sweets, biscuits, potato waffles and oranges are my favourites.

anothermama · 30/07/2018 16:14

Hi! I'm joining in after getting a positive test on Friday. This will be my second baby, I have a little girl who is 15m, so she'll be just under 2 when this one arrives! I don't think it's really sunk in yet. In fact, I keep forgetting I'm pregnant, and have a lovely little surprise each time I remember. No symptoms yet, really hoping the morning sickness buggers off this time though. Congratulations to everyone else expecting!

PhoenixBlaze · 30/07/2018 16:21

Hello, can I join too please? Found out last week I'm expecting DC3 Shock was a bit of a shock but I'm slowly getting used to the idea Grin Due date approx. April 5 (seems to be a popular one around here Grin)

Not many symptoms so far... Had a bit of brown spotting last week (also had this on and off during first trimester in first pregnancy so wasn't TOO worried but still not really what you wanna see) but it's settled down now.

Only me and DH know so far... In that limbo between wanting to tell everyone and kinda enjoying being in our own little knowing bubble. Seeing a lot of both sides of the family over the next 3 weeks so it will almost definitely all come out soon!

Congrats to everyone on their BFPs!

organised5 · 30/07/2018 16:29

@BeeKeeping me too, I'm starving!! Thinking the morning sickness will soon come so maybe that will change...

Glad there's lots of people on DC 2 and 3, you can help the rest of us beginners out 😁

Fluffy475 · 30/07/2018 18:32

@Treaclepie19 I'm not suffering food aversion so much as not wanting to eat full stop! Having to eat little an often to try and stave off starvation versus nausea!! Last week I just wanted anything spicy, this week nothing at all!! Definitely off anything sweet though!! I think what's not helping is my sense of smell is so strong at the moment!!

Treaclepie19 · 30/07/2018 18:34

Fluffy i was like that with my son. It took until about 7 weeks though i think. Just never wanted anything. Everything made me feel sick. I lost a lot of weight 🙈

Apart from the crippling tiredness I'm feeling ok today. It worries me when I feel ok :p
Have to remind myself that by LMP date I'm only 3+6. It's so weird bevause I've known since Friday (short cycles)
