Hello everyone! I thought I'd start a thread for babies due in April 2019 as I couldn't see an existing post for it.

I'm 29
I have a DS who is 12 months
Due 3 April with DC2

I'm only 3+2 so extremely early! I can't quite believe it but I got a line on a test at 8dpo, and the line is getting darker. I'm very excited, but also very nervous.

He is a bit of a masnsplainer @monkerina Always insisting he's right about something when he can't possibly know he's right - because he's wrong!! I couldn't use the term "mansplaining" though, because he also likes to roll his eyes when I "get too feminist".

@QueenOfCatan I've given him the heads up about how wacky your body is in the early stages with hormones. He had to be receptive because he really hasn't been around a pregnant person before.

@MomoTheLemur I can't stop sleeping!! The sleepiness is insane! I'm out of bed at least once for the loo though. @Annie264 and @toomanyflatwhites hope the sleep bug starts coming to you at night soon!

So, here in Korea they really look after their pregnant ladies. There are seats like this on every carriage on the subway and regular announcements to leave them free "including for women in the early stages of pregnancy."

Go Korea! That's fantastic! I was on a busy underground train the other day, carrying my toddler and feeling grim with morning sickness... People saw me and no-one offered to move, so I started passive-agressively muttering, yes I'm stood here carrying a child AND I'm pregnant but you must all be terribly tired, terribly terribly tired Blush Quite embarrassing behaviour on my part, and of course people heard me and just went back to ignoring me!

Westmacott · 11/08/2018 10:32

@organised5 would love to know what you think once you’ve read it! I think it’s really fascinating!

@queenofcatan yup getting started on knitting for the little bean already. But only because it’ll probably take me 9 months to make one hat!!! Grin I’m so slow!

Off to visit my best friend for the weekend - but we’ve decided not to tell her yet. I bet she takes one look at me and just knows!!!

Annie264 · 11/08/2018 10:38

So today is the day we're gonna tell our parents and my brother. I feel really nervous but I don't know why because I know they're going to be so happy!!

AmyRhodes · 11/08/2018 10:43

@Littleloaf That's rubbish!! Yeah they really seem to respect the pregnant lady seat here. We've said we might use the seat and take a photo to show our parents as our kind of "announcement"

@Annie264 Enjoy and good luck!

Littleloaf · 11/08/2018 10:59

@AmyRhodes that's a great idea - would be a very cute photo!

monkerina · 11/08/2018 12:12

My scan was good! Little tiny blob with little tiny heartbeat, measuring 4.8mm so right for 6+1. Happy and surprised, but not taking this as being home safe- last pregnancy we saw the heartbeat at 7 weeks then lost the baby at 13 (incidentally, same sonographer today as at 13 weeks last time). Cramping doesn't necessarily mean bad news!

Aaaa @monkerina that’s great news!
Anyone else noticing everything tastes weird?!?
@amyrhodes those seats are so cute, I love it!
@annie264 hope it goes well and I think I am tempted to get one of these pillows even though I don’t need one yet! I’ve been so tired since last week I literally have been sleeping like a log when I’m usually a really light sleeper. So strange how it affects everyone differently!

Annie264 · 11/08/2018 12:49

@italianwifey yes about the weird tastes! I couldn't eat garlic bread last night as I thought it tasted off, which is very unlike me!!

Think I'll order a pillow this weekend - will let you know how it is! Does anyone have any recommendations for which one to get??

Treaclepie19 · 11/08/2018 12:54

With my son I had a massive U shaped pillow. This time I'm thinking of getting s long sausage one because I'll have him in our bed often so there won't be room.

We've just had a McDonald's. I feel sick 🙈

italianwifey · 11/08/2018 12:58

@treaclepie19 oh no!! We are going out for dinner tonight so I’m hoping I feel ok as so far my queasiness seems to have been evening not morning?! @annie364 I just treated myself to the first real coffee I’ve had since finding out, and it tasted really weird and fruity?!? Not nice! And disappointing that I now wasted my caffeine allowance on it 😂😂

toomanyflatwhites · 11/08/2018 14:15

@monkerina great news!
And for those quitting coffee...totally your choice of course and don't want to be controversial but imho not necessary to give it up entirely...especially after reading Expecting Better as recommended earlier. I thought I had to quit in my 1st pregnancy but apart from a short while in my 1st trimester when the smell made me gag I was delighted to find it wasn't necessary to give up! From my understanding you should limit to 2-3 cups a day but as long as you drink less than that there are no statistics to suggest you can't keep drinking it. There's enough hardship as far as I'm concerned Wink

AmyRhodes · 11/08/2018 14:37

@toomanyflatwhites

I actually can't tell the difference between caffeinated and decaf (I don't drink instant though) so coffee's not a problem for me.

It's tea that I can't live without and decaf tea is 🤢

italianwifey · 11/08/2018 15:55

@toomanyflatwhites is that of strong coffee from a machine or instant? I’ve been having two cups of tea a day but was worried if I had a coffee as well it might push me over he 200mg limit! So today decaf tea only
And the coffee... maybe I’ll read that book!!

toomanyflatwhites · 11/08/2018 16:15

@italianwifey I'll be honest I have no clue...but in case you can't guess from my username I'm rather fond of REAL coffee and look for any reason I can find to not give it up! My DD is living proof that it did no harm at all having an espresso and at least one other coffee a day (usually bought from a coffee shop) so that's good enough for me Smile

This might come in handy for those wanting to know about caffeine content:

Sorry I don't know how clicky links work!

MB34 · 11/08/2018 18:55

@kisses4u I'm so sorry to hear your news. Sending love

@AmyRhodes most decaf tea is rank which I found out years ago when I went over to decaf. I tried loads and the only one I like is Asda own brand. Maybe try that?

@organised5 did you get my pm about the Facebook group?

Treaclepie19 · 11/08/2018 19:02

I'm just sticking to normal tea and only having one cup a day. I'm more likely to go over caffeine content on chocolate 🙈

organised5 · 11/08/2018 19:38

@MB34 yes I invited you as soon as I got your message. Did you definitely use the right email? Let me uninvite and reinvite you and see if it works.

MB34 · 11/08/2018 19:52

Thanks @organised5 it's come through now

Fluffy475 · 11/08/2018 19:54

I've gone off chocolate :( just makes me feel sick. Thought I'd gone off tea but it was the sweetener so gone back to sugar!!

Told my other brother today and they were really chuffed, all starting to feel a bit more real!!

Treaclepie19 · 11/08/2018 20:04

Ugh I feel crap tonight. I'm hoping it's just digestive but I'm so crampy.
Friday can't come quickly enough.

Aww Fluffy that's lovely! :)

Annie264 · 11/08/2018 20:09

I know what you mean @Treaclepie19 , I was panicking a bit earlier when I had quite strong cramps but pretty sure it was digestive as I went to the loo soon after. I'm also really gassy 🙈

Treaclepie19 · 11/08/2018 20:11

@Annie264 haha yes! I think it'll just be that. Things keep slowing down and speeding up like crazy.
