Hello everyone! I thought I'd start a thread for babies due in April 2019 as I couldn't see an existing post for it.

I'm 29
I have a DS who is 12 months
Due 3 April with DC2

I'm only 3+2 so extremely early! I can't quite believe it but I got a line on a test at 8dpo, and the line is getting darker. I'm very excited, but also very nervous.

Actually... 5+5 days today Confused all the rest as above

BeeKeeping · 09/08/2018 19:55

@MomoTheLemur 100% normal! Cramps that come and go and are not associated with bleeding are totally fine. I’m 5+6 today and have had mild cramps on and off since BFP. I mentioned it to the midwife when I saw her on Tuesday and she said it’s just stretching, the uterus is already 1/3 bigger even the the wee bean is only the size of a peppercorn xx

BeeKeeping · 09/08/2018 19:56

*even though

MomoTheLemur · 09/08/2018 19:59

@BeeKeeping thank you. That's reassuring.

Definitely having a hormone moment and DH who is my calming influence is out at the moment ... 😭 I'm am so not sure I'm cut out for a 9 month slog of emotional rollercoaster.

Treaclepie19 · 09/08/2018 20:06

Cramps are definitely normal @MomoTheLemur.
I had such awful ones with my son and it was just stretching and ligament pain.
I've had less this time. Maybe I'm already all stretched out :p

MomoTheLemur · 09/08/2018 20:10

@Treaclepie19 thank you too! ❤️ So glad to have you ladies for reassuring. All of this is so overwhelming at times. 😥

Treaclepie19 · 09/08/2018 20:11

It really is ❤ I'm making sure to take everything slowly and keep on top of it because my mental health can suffer very easily.
You've got this xxx

Rapunzel91 · 09/08/2018 20:25

I've had cramping on and off @MomoTheLemur and from what I've heard from friends its very normal. I woke up one night with quite bad cramps and back ache and got worried, but turned out it was mostly trapped wind! Grin

What's everyone's view on cleaning products and actually cleaning and tidying? My apps seem a bit over the top and everything seems like a possible danger Hmm But my DP is being quite overprotective too, it's very cute but I do feel like I can't really do anything! We're renovating our house and I wanted to do some wallpaper stripping and painting which I have decided I will postpone until at least the second trimester. Don't know what to do about cleaning products, bending and lifting though? I'm being more careful but I can't avoid it completely!

monkerina · 09/08/2018 20:28

@momo I'm right there with you! Dull cramps pretty much every day, 5+6 today, much more cramping last weekend (I think I did too much and got a bit dehydrated in the heat which didn't help) hence my freaking out also! Trying to keep repeating my mantra that this is normal, uterus is just making room for baby, but it's soooooo hard. I've also checked my records for previous pregnancies (yes I am very anal, why do you ask?) and have had some level of cramping in the last 2; one was successful, one not, but the mc was nothing to do with cramping (chromosomal abnormality) so it means precisely nothing. Hth x

Treaclepie19 · 09/08/2018 20:30

@Rapunzel91 my advice would be carry on as normally as you can.
I was overly cautious in my 2nd pregnancy after miscarrying first time and it did me no favours and I ended up with awful OCD.
Not saying that will happen of course, just that it's easy to make everything seem dangerous once you start analysing.

I'm trying to carry on as normal this time, I sort of have to with carrying an almost 3 year old about.

toots123 · 09/08/2018 20:48

Evening all. After a rough ride so far this year I got a bfp this morning. No idea how far along I am as AF was awol and I thought I ovulated 4 weeks ago (but must have been wrong!)
Good line and a 2-3 on a digi though so who knows where I am

Lovely strong bfp! Welcome @toots123 🤗

Treaclepie19 · 09/08/2018 20:54

Welcome @toots123, I'm so pleased for you xxx

MomoTheLemur · 09/08/2018 21:01

@toots123 congrats! 😁

Westmacott · 09/08/2018 21:02

@momothelemur I’m right there with you. It’s sort of a constant dull achey cramp. I worried myself earlier - stupidly fell off a chair. Very embarrassing (in front of all my colleagues too!). I scooter all the way along a bench and right off he end on to the floor!!!! Blush bad enough as it was but now, of course, my cramps seem sinister. But, I know that’s all in my head. We have to keep remembering that those little beans are all tucked up pretty cozy in there!

On another note: If anyone is academically minded, enjoys a statistic or two and is interested in evidence-based advice (that isn’t in any way preachy or dictatorial) I can HIGHLY recommend Professor Emily Oster’s book: Expecting Better. I read it cover to cover and it’s really put my mind at ease about things like moderate caffeine, foods to avoid and even the (controversial) alcohol issue. And she’s releasing another book in April called Cribsheet - which is all about data-driven parenting for newborns. Perfect timing for us all!!

Right, time to get back to my knitting (baby hat!!) and trying to ignore these cramps.....repeat after me everyone: “this is all totally normal, this is all totally normal....”

monkerina · 09/08/2018 21:06

Ooh @westmacott statistics and knitting, a woman after my own heart! Do share a pic of the hat when you're done Smile I'm about to start adding to a baby blanket I started last time

AwkwardAsAllGetout · 09/08/2018 21:09

Is anyone else feeling really warm? I’m definitely feeling queasy today, and actually had a nap this afternoon but for about a week now I’ve felt really warm to the touch, when normally I’m like an icicle.

Westmacott · 09/08/2018 21:12

@monkerina I sure will! It’s a really sweet basic pattern - I’m rubbish at knitting! Already frogged it twice because I got distracted, dropped stitches and there were great big holes!!! Haha! Looking forward to getting my sewing machine out and making some little outfits too. I bought the Oliver and S lullaby layette pattern a few years ago for a friend’s baby and never got round to making it. Excited to sew up some little clothes for my baby instead!!Grin

What blanket pattern are you using?

italianwifey · 09/08/2018 21:16

@beekeeping bad news about the sickness, I think mine may be starting to kick in too... on the tram of all places i suddenly felt like I was going to throw up... it’s eased off a bit but keeps coming and going!
@newbie2703 this is probably a really stupid question but what are pregnancy pillows actually for, and how would you know if you need one? They sound exciting but I don’t think I actually know what they are!

MomoTheLemur · 09/08/2018 21:35

@Westmacott oh no, sounds painful. I'm always clumsy too and bumping into /falling off things. 🙈 And stats sound intriguing will have to check it it.

@italianwifey glad you said about pillow ... I felt very uninformed for not knowing and went straight on Google after @newbie2703 mentioned it. (Funnily enough I've sorta recreated it by using a second pillow wedged in-between my legs without ever having heard of it - definitely has helped me sleep) 😊

toots123 · 09/08/2018 21:38

Thanks @beekeeping @treaclepie19 and @momothelemur
Its going to be a slow pregnancy but I'm thrilled to be here Smile

NorthernGirl1991 · 09/08/2018 21:44

@AwkwardAsAllGetout Yes I’ve been feeling really hot too! And tired...before I got my BFP I was feeling exhausted and napping every afternoon.

italianwifey · 09/08/2018 21:48

Haha @momothelemur glad. I’m not the only one! I did google them but from the pics I couldn’t figure it out! I think I want one though just Cos they sound comfy! @toots123 welcome and I know that feeling. Just want the next 8 weeks to fly by!

MB34 · 09/08/2018 21:49

Welcome toots123 and congrats!

I've had horrendous nausea since Sunday and I don't know if it's fluke or psychological (at this point I don't care which!) but I bought some sea sickness wrist bands today. I put them on and within 10 mins, I wasn't feeling the urge to puke!
I put them on around 12pm and still feel ok. Fingers crossed they still work in the morning!
Worth a try as they do say on the packaging that they can be used for morning sickness too.

toomanyflatwhites · 09/08/2018 22:02

Welcome @toots123!
Oh can I just have a moan....? We are almost a week into a 3 week stay with the in laws in France and I am feeling SO sorry for myself😭 only 5 weeks and no nausea/extra tiredness (thank GOODNESS!!) but I have had the absolute worst headache of my life and a cough that I've had for weeks has got worse, along with sinus pain that makes me feel like my head is exploding when I bend over. The headache may also be because I banged my head really hard on a cooker god yesterday Hmm
Anyway today my fever came back and I am just so fed up with being here, nobody speaking English and feeling crap! All sorts of stuff going on with DP's family so it's complicated but time always drags when we are here and waiting to make sure everything works out with this pregnancy means this is not a bloody holiday, it's like a torture!!
