@FrowningFlamingo Lovely scan :)

Food wise I'm eating whatever I want which happens to include a lot of bread at the moment! I weighed at slimming world last night for the first time in 3 weeks and managed to lose half a pound so even though I'm eating rubbish I'm not eating too much which I'm thrilled about. I'm quite cautious of putting on too much as I know I can do that quite easily! Still a long way to go.

FrowningFlamingo · 26/07/2018 09:32

lookingatthestars you must be right - I read that we only need 200 extra calories a day but I've been really lax and allowing myself to eat pretty much whatever I want (a whole share bag of prawn crackers on the way home from work on Tuesday Blush) and tentatively weighed myself today but have actually lost a bit.
I feel like I've got a massive tummy even though I'm only 11 weeks and this is my first. It seems to be more at the top under my ribs though. Could be bloat but I don't particularly feel bloated. Pregnancy is weird!!

Since2016 · 26/07/2018 09:51

I'm 10w tomorrow and nausea has really eased off this week. Still have periods of retching but a lot better than it was. I'm getting bigger by the day though, and the heat is unbearable here. 37 tomorrow 😩 thank god for non working Fridays.

Still starving though and needing to pee ALL THE TIME. DD not sleeping well in this heat either which is an added nightmare.

fizzledays · 26/07/2018 10:00

@FrowningFlamingo I feel like my tummy is massive too! I mean, I had a bit of excess there anyway but it's way more now. None of my usual clothes that fit perfectly fit at ALL. Holding off buying anything new so my outfit choices are...interesting I'd say, especially in this heat!

fizzledays · 26/07/2018 10:01

@LookingAtTheStars89
ah good for you! We've told immediate family...we were living with my parents for a while and there's no way we'd be able to hide it from them, which meant we had to tell rest of immediate family SO much earlier than I wanted to. But...it's been kinda nice having their support too.
Just can't wait for the initial "ahhhh" to be over!

Baby160P · 26/07/2018 10:13

I'm too a worrier. Completely agree there's too much out there.

We had a scan at 6 weeks and Sunday and we're now 9+6 anddddddd I'm worrying again.

I think it's he lack of symptoms at this stage that makes you worry.

I can't wait to feel it moving!!!

Baby160P · 26/07/2018 10:13

I'm the same- beige food but went to slimming world Wednesday and had lost 2lb!

Since2016 · 26/07/2018 10:34

And yes the early scans make me worry more!! Have had no active bleeding for over a week now (touch wood) and just brown spotting so hoping this is healing now. BUT I've now had 4 scans 😳 and having not had one for 2 weeks now I'm freaked! Only 10 days till 12w scan though but even so...!!

booxox · 26/07/2018 11:07

Hello Everyone,

I'm really sorry I haven't been very active over the last few weeks. I really hope I don't upset anyone with my decision but I have decided to terminate my pregnancy. I have been in a very violent and toxic relationship and it wasn't until I got hurt bad enough I ended up in hospital I realised how dangerous the whole situation was for not just me but the baby. I can't risk the baby getting hurt. I wish you all the luck in the world and I'm sure you will all be amazing mummy's! Hopefully one day my time will come but for now I've had to make such a hard to decision but in my heart I know it's for the best. ❤️ xxx

bubblybrit · 26/07/2018 11:26

@booxox. I’m so sorry to hear about this year. I am sure that you have made the right decision for you. Please do get some real life support in relation to your abusive relationship. You are worth so much more than that. Wishing you all the luck and happiness in the future. Take care of yourself xxx

Alicejj8x · 26/07/2018 12:17

@fizzledays
Your so right these early scans cause more worry I think than anything else if we had to wait till 12 weeks we wouldn't know any diff

It's just horrible isn't it the not knowing and all the what ifs and then google lol!

I am
Sure everything is just fine for us after all we've seen heart beats each time and my last scan I was 9 weeks and I know each time the % of miscarriage drops but it just still
Sets my mind racing

FX our babies are doing just right.

@booxox bless you must of been such a hard decision.. I really hope your able to seek some advice bless you!! Always thinking of you xx

Lookingforadvice123 · 26/07/2018 12:32

boo that's so awful for you, but it sounds like you're 100% doing the right thing. Take care of yourself xxx

I definitely don't agree about the early scans, I think they're a life saver! Imagine going to the 12 week scan and finding the baby never developed beyond 6 weeks. If you have a scan at 8 weeks, I know the outcome won't be different but at least you'll know sooner. Plus once you see a strong heartbeat at 8+ weeks, your mc rate goes down to about 2%. That's so reassuring. I am wondering whether to have another scan though as if I wait til 12 weeks it'll be 4 weeks since my last! I don't feel the need right now though.

I was VERY worried during my last pregnancy and it completely ruined it for me. I've learned from then and I hope to be different last time, I've been much better so far.

Lookingforadvice123 · 26/07/2018 12:33

And Baby160p I worried so much more once I had regular movements! Don't know about any others who already have children but I found there was no sodding pattern, meant I was in and out of MAU having him checked constantly. Obviously everything was always fine! But I ended up having an early sweep at 38+5 as I wasn't coping mentally, luckily it worked and DS was born at 39 weeks exactly.

welshweasel · 26/07/2018 12:33

We're still on holiday, having a nice time but missing being able to drink and go scuba diving! Got my Harmony results back yesterday, all low risk and it's another boy!

12 week scan on Monday, if that's ok then we'll tell work etc.

Alicejj8x · 26/07/2018 12:50

@Lookingforadvice123
Oh no don't get wrong I am so thankful I was able to have early scans on the nhs and am happy everything was fine but they can cause I worry also I think

I would much prefer to know earlier than 12 weeks if everything wasn't ok but I just think after you've had your early scans you worry much more as you know that so far everything is ok and you get abit more attached

Celebelly · 26/07/2018 12:52

I think early scans can be good but I think if you fall into the trap of needing them every week or two then it's obviously not making you any less anxious (and will be costing a fortune!). We had one at 6 weeks to check it was in right place before we went on holiday but neither of us wanted another before 12-week scan. It wouldn't really have made us less anxious other than the 20 mins or so we were actually in there seeing the baby as when you come back out you're just in the same position as you were before. It's tough but the vast majority of people have normal pregnancies and healthy babies and if there are no signs anything is wrong then there probably isn't anything wrong.

UndercoverLauren · 26/07/2018 12:59

@booxox Sounds like the right decision. I really hope you're somewhere safe now x

IndiX · 26/07/2018 13:03

@booxox I'm so sorry for what you have been through and think you are 100% making the right decision. I hope you get a lot of support and love through this tough time.

I had my first MW appt today at 11/12 weeks, I should be recieiving my scan date by letter in the next few days which is exciting! I don't want to tempt fate but I feel ok today my nausea is worse in the afternoons anyway and this heat is a bit much BUT atm I'm staying positive and hoping my nausea and sickness is coming to an end!

@welshweasel congratulations on a lovely baby boy! Hope the rest of the pregnancy is a happy and healthy one. Bet you're so relieved now.

Alicejj8x · 26/07/2018 13:14

@Celebelly
Oh yes 100%
I wouldn't of paid for my 4 early scans I am with the fertility clinic so they scan every 2 weeks up to 9 weeks then your discharged and your pregnancy is classed as 'normal' from
There on

I do understand why some ppl do
Choose to pay for private scans but I guess it's each to
There own isn't it :)

I do have my first private scan Monday only as OH wanted to have one as he then goes away for a week so wanted to see bub I think before he went so who can argue with that lol. Other than that I won't be paying for anymore scans will wait for my 12 week scan in August then will more than likely pay for the 4D one but that would be it :)

IndiX · 26/07/2018 13:27

As for scans yes I think an early scan around 6-8 weeks is reassuring to see the heartbeat etc ( I've never had to pay for one as I have had spotting around then with both my pregnancies) and ido understand 12 weeks seems forever to wait for the normal dating scan!
I will be paying for a private one at 16 weeks to find out the gender, neither of us are patient enough to wait until 20 weeks and then probably a 3D scan later on around 30 weeks as I did with my DD.

Is anyone else getting an early gender scan? My MW today said she thinks my baby is a boy 😬 she just 'had a feeling' 🙈

Lookingforadvice123 · 26/07/2018 13:32

Yes Indix I will be paying for a gender scan at 16 weeks Smile we had one with DS, it was actually a reassurance scan as I had some spotting but she told us the gender too!

I initially thought this time I'm having a girl but lately I'm not so sure and am leaning towards boy.

Congratulations on another boy welshweasel! Where do you live? I live in Cardiff.
