Into months 7 and 8 of our pregnancies now.. this will most likely be our last 'pregnant' thread before we all have our babies!!

How did we get here? Feels like just yesterday we were waving hello from the TTC boards.

If anyone new would like to join please do, we also have a very busy (private) Facebook group for everyone due in August 2018.

Emmasmum2013 · 05/08/2018 11:08

Omg @Hjkillas!!! Good luck!! Hope you are ok! On your due date too!

BertieBotts · 05/08/2018 11:18

How exciting :) Good luck Hjkillas!

Hjkillas · 05/08/2018 11:36

Thanks ladies..
Currently having an ECG because I don't want immediate induction (rather avoid the drip if possible)
And they need one within 18 hours of induction. Have to come back by 9 in the morning or antibiotics if nothing kicks off. But with my son my contractions started around 4 hours after waters broke so I'm going to hold off and try and let them naturally progress xx

louella99 · 05/08/2018 11:37

@WaitingforToto I'm in the same boat as you.. i'm 36+3 today and baby is breech, I've had my detailed scan, he's estimated to be around 6lb and although amniotic fluid is on the lower end they've decided the conditions are favourable enough to recommend an ECV. I really seriously did not want one, and planned to decline it. However, I've done a lot of reading and spoken to midwife friends and I'm giving it a go. It's tomorrow morning so I'll let you know! I feel he's too stuck for it to work, but at least when I end up with a c section I won't wonder whether I could have avoided it

Emmasmum2013 · 05/08/2018 11:55

Awww @Hjkillas hopefully things will start naturally very soon. Got everything crossed for you! X

WaitingforToto · 05/08/2018 12:02

Thanks @louella99 and @milney25 it's good to know there's others in the same boat! Good luck tomorrow Louella, I hope you get a good result. I'll keep you posted on what happens with me on Tuesday/Wednesday.

somersetsinger · 05/08/2018 14:04

Good luck, Hjkillas and Louella. Sounds like we will have some more babies very soon!

Hjkillas · 05/08/2018 14:24

Hopefully xx

TheGrumpySquirrel · 05/08/2018 17:41

Things kicked off for me today as well. Midwife has just left though because I'm only 1-2cm dilated so been told to try & rest. Yeah right! I need tens on max to cope with the pain! Got to look on the bright side I'm 38w tomorrow so lucky I guess.

Gem173 · 05/08/2018 17:59

@TheGrumpySquirrel that sounds good, it’s good it’s kicked off! Not long till baby will be here! I suppose your baby will be early if your only 38 weeks tomorrow!

I’ve been looking out for signs but still nothing, can’t even tell where baby is sitting either now as my whole belly is hard. I’m nervous to go into labour and can’t stop worrying about it :/ everytime I worry I try to just shut my thought process down and think of something else. I know we can’t change the way our labour goes but it’s the fear of the unknown, ie the pain as I’m a first time mum.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 05/08/2018 18:13

Well @Gem173 it's better than remembering my first time easy labour and thinking that it's all a walk in the park! Pretty sore so far and not much progress

BertieBotts · 05/08/2018 20:03

Aww Grumpy that sounds much like my first one, it is pretty exhausting. Apparently a good way to manage it if it goes on too long is to have some opiate type pain relief like pethidine - this will typically give you around ~4 hours sleep during which you'll likely progress and be able to continue when you wake up, but far enough away from the actual birth that it's not a risk to the baby.

Defo try to conserve energy but no harm in doing things to try and get it going as well - bouncing on birth ball, walking, climb stairs sideways like a crab, sex?? Hope it doesn't go on for too long.

Gkite · 05/08/2018 23:48

@bertie I thought your post said crab sex Grin
I was wondering how that'd work 😂
I got out the hospital myself around 7pm, started having painful tightenings. I'm 3cm dilated 😬 been told to rest despite having another hospital appointment tomorrow afternoon?! Impossible! These two days can't pass quick enough d

TheGrumpySquirrel · 06/08/2018 04:45

My son was born at 2:45am after 12 hours of labour and 3 hours of pushing
It was grim
But I did it all at home with just the tens machine and gas and air
He is perfect 💙

BeesKnees9 · 06/08/2018 05:40

@thegrumpysquirrel wow amazing news!! Well done you, hope you and baby are recovering well and getting some lovely bonding time

@Gkite @HJkillas hopefully you are next Grin

Hjkillas · 06/08/2018 05:51

Morning ladies.
I was a bit disappointed yesterday as 5pm came and went with nothing :/
About twenty to seven I felt a pop on my cervix..veryyyy bizarre as waters had already gone!
Every 10 minutes I has pain that were only lasting 30 seconds but fairly intense.
I rang up at half 8 to say my pains are 4 or 5 in ten minutes but they aren't lasting more than maybe 30 seconds. Told to have paracetamol and a bath.
Begrudgingly I did as I was told and I was started to struggle with the pains. I thought fuck this I'm going in! I got to hospital and was put into a waiting room where I had 5 very intense contractions in 6 minutes.
I was begging for gas and air but was told I needed to be examined. In walked the woman who examined me and gave me a good sweep while she was there Angry
She said you're at 5cm I stood up and let out a shrill. She got me on the gas and air and I was like..I need to push???!
Not much later and out popped my 8lbs 6oz baby!!
To say I was in shock is a total understatement I literally went from 5cm to transition and labour like a snap.

My recorded labour was 20 minutes. I was established at 22:38 and delivered at 22:58
Fuck me was I exhausted.
But! No stitches and has and air only (not that I had much fucking choice!!)
The midwives said I made it look easy but it doesn't feel that way!! Lol

Got discharged at about half 4 all home now and I can't sleep. Still in shock I think!!

Congratulations @TheGrumpySquirrel

Gem173 · 06/08/2018 06:35

Omg, congratulations both @GrumpySquirrel and @HjKillas.
Neither birth sounds ideal but you both got through it and your babies look and sound beautiful! Well done! Xx now I’m shitting myself 😂 last thing I need is to go in and not have time to have an epidural!

louella99 · 06/08/2018 06:37

Oh wow, amazing updates! Congratulations both!!

BeesKnees9 · 06/08/2018 06:41

ahhhh congratulations to you too @HJkillas that was a speedy delivery, glad you are ok and your baby is gorgeous!

Emmasmum2013 · 06/08/2018 07:25

2 more?! Congrats @TheGrumpySquirrel and @Hjkillas!

going from 5cm to pushing instantly is crazy! To be honest I'd love that. I remember last time getting "stuck" at about 8cm for hours on end. But I think it was because I'd had some diamorphine and it slowed everything down for me. Definitely not going to have anything like that this time.

Very brave to do a home birth as well @TheGrumpySquirrel, but it must be lovely to be instantly at home and in your own bed!

Hope you're both doing well!
I'm getting really impatient now haha

somersetsinger · 06/08/2018 07:42

Congratulations TheGrumpySquirrel and Hjkillas! Hello to the lovely new babies. Glad to hear that everyone is well.

BertieBotts · 06/08/2018 09:05

Congratulations Grumpy
